But that was so tame -- I guess I have a different definition of "inappropriate". Not exactly the AMA performance I don't think it was inapprorpriate, either. It was pure Rock Star! And much milder than what the Idol results' night guests were doing! Adam also said in an interview, maybe the same one with Slezak, that he was surprised he was able to say "every inch of my love" without Idol trying to change that lyric. I don't think the AMA performance was inappropriate either, for the type of show it was and the hour. Hee!! Yeah, he said that in the Idolatry interview, not the Realité interview. Oh damn, I may have to watch that one again now. Such a lazy day ... so nice!

Happy Glam Nation Anniversary, Everyone! Seems impossible it was a year ago that right about now I was in my room overlooking the tour busses at the Genetti Best Western in lovely downtown Wilkes Barre. When I checked in, the front desk staff were actually discussing "Adam" - not Mr. Lambert - in glowing terms. The maid was there, she had cleaned his room (he had already checked out) which was now the - not kidding - Bridal Suite. A bride and groom were checking in that night. (Apparently no correlation with Glam Nation) Not that I somehow managed to get off at the wrong floor, later. It was a short building, quick elevator ride, long drive, I wasn't paying attention. The Bridal Suite and my room were at the same end of the floor. The security camera footage, if there is such a thing, would just show someone perplexed, looking for their room. And no indication of her touching the doorknob of said Bridal Suite and channeling in how Adam must have felt going in and out of there for days, rehearsing the launch of his solo extravanganza.And how much thousands of us were as excited and thrilled and eager and happy as he was. And wished him every good and glorious success. That would have been completely out of my very mature character. Absolutely didn't happen. Seems like eons and eons since "first show, first tour." Not just a mere year. But what a year it's been. May Adam - and all of us - have many more years of wonder and delight. And imagine "first show, second tour". What joy that will be. --And-- Happy Birthday, Linda!!! Good day Adam picked for GNT launch, wouldn't you say? LMAO FifthHouse! I so love your stories!! They always make my day. PLEASE come by more often bb! The twitterverse doesn't do you justice. {{HUGS}}

The unbroadcast F-you hand gesture at the end of the AMA FYE performance was not appropriate for prime time network TV -- which it was in the Central Time Zone. But the director, called a cutaway audience shot for that moment. If they had not, it would have been a huge FCC mess for ABC and the affiliates. It is a specifically banned action for network broadcast TV except in late night.
The rest really is an example of the double standard for men vs. women.

Aww, love this post, FHS!!! Thanks for the memories. Yes, what a year it's been and so glad you could be there for first show. I remember all the should-we or should-we-not go discussion. All the anticipation and later flail. The first of soooo many GNT shows. Our first glimpses of the costumes, choreography, staging – good times!! Have to saw sitting in that hotel room after, having moved the desk so that I could scope out all the bus tour activity, swilling Zinfandel and tweeting and posting as fast as I could are wonderful memories for me. That was such fun. Because I could feel everyone's electric excitement over the ethers. Everyone was, of course, eager for all info, and were waiting for the fabulous Suz - whom I had just been so happy to meet in person for the first time that night - to get those first vids out. But the internet was so-oooooo-oooo slow there. So I wanted to give everyone every glittery detail. PF, alas, no longer among us, and finding one's year old tweets - and I tried - not so easy. But I do remember gist of my first one "Call People Magazine, no need to have the contest this year, Adam Lambert is the sexiest man alive." Yes, the music, sets, costumes were all splendid, and I did get to those, but Adam's innate sexiness combined with his delight at being alive in his dream left one feeling the heat more than anything. So had to report that first. ETA: Thanks and HUGS right back at you, esteemed HSM!

Ack - must get out of here. Taking our daughter to her very first HMS Pinafore show tonight. Lawn seats, so we can scoot if she starts acting up. However, if she does ok today, next stop is orchestra for Mikado later this month. She's listened to us sing songs from it at bedtime her whole life, but with...um...bastardized lyrics. To the tune of "Tit Willow"We're hoping she not too confused.
