Sounds like Adam is recording demos of all his new songs now? no wonder we haven't found him.. He's probably living in the studio. Some of these sound like demo sessions but many of could be final recording sessions. Since he is working with so many different collaborators, in so many locations, my bet is that, like he did on FYE, the vocal tracks will be the final recordings for most of this album. If Adam is really working toward a November release, he will need to deliver the album in July or August. So he is probably close to done -- maybe 4 more weeks. The other interesting thing about this album is that it is very hard to get information about what he is recording and who he is working with. And, most importantly, very few people have heard anything yet. The is very different than FYE where they were working hard on generating pre-release buzz and letting out lots of info. Q3- I remember for Adam1, someone or reporters saying that RCA really kept it really tight any information about Adam1. They wouldn't let any small thing out. The opposite with Kris, they could get info for Kris1 that time. So I guess they do it again this time? And I really do hope that Adam's aiming for November release. Since fans keep on asking him about Adam2, he knows very well that his fans couldn't wait for Adam2. Maybe we should be waiting here patiently??? But.. Adam ... don't you go to Starbuck for coffee anymore?? or someone get it for you this time??? ??? ???

In your opinion, is this a good strategy - no info, no buzz?

Adam ... don't you go to Starbuck for coffee anymore?? or someone get it for you this time??? ??? ??? For FYE I had almost all the collaborators, and many of the song titles by July 1. There was much more info about what Adam was doing than Kris. When it was closer to album release time, it flipped. In August, Jive started to promote Kris' album and released a lot of info. In September, there was a lot more info about FYE -- including several previews from Rolling Stone, EW, etc. Some reporters complained about not getting previews of Adam's album in August. But fans knew a ton by then. This time info is locked down but the lock-down is coming from Adam not RCA. Even my contacts at RCA don't know a lot or are not talking. And what do we really know this time --- Adam has been vague. We have a few collaborators names. We do not have tweets from producers about beat tracks, or anyone like Aimee Mayo tweeting about hoping her song makes it.

Perhaps song leaks are strategic buzz builders for major label artists, but they are big problems for indie label type bands. My son's band had an entire album leaked about 2 months before it was to be released. It went straight to the free download sites. They hurried to counter-act the leak with a way to purchase a download until they could move up the itunes release (physical album had to wait until original release date), but still lost tons of sales. Indie albums don't sell in high numbers, so to lose a bunch more than usual to pirate sites was a big financial blow.
Ironically, leaks like this happen because a fan working at a magazine or at the studio doing the mastering or some such comes across a promo or working copy and leaks it because they are trying to do the band a favor by getting the music out there!
Anyway, son's band and label were WAY more careful on the album that came out after the leaked one.
Adam is so lucky to have a fan base that supports his music through purchases! Not many of his fans would even consider an illegal download of an entire album. Yay Adam fans!
