Thank you so much, mom, for your,as always, detailed and eloquent account of the latest magical weekend with Adam in LA. Although I can't begin to add much to your accurate descriptions of the Orpheum theatre itself, the amazing aura and love that surrounded all the folks entering it, and THE MAN himself,on that electrifying stage----I will at least share some of my thoughts and experiences,{ mostly because I appreciate all of you who take the time and effort to do so and make me feel a part of Adam's journey wherever he is performing all over the world.}
So here goes....The quiet, post concert melancholy is starting to fade,just a little. I think this happens to me because of the vast contrast between the months of heightened anticipation and the realization when he walks off that stage, that it's OVER.You know, as a famous guy once said,"Parting is such sweet sorrow..." I was only able to go to one concert, the Saturday night one in LA because I drove up to LA from San Diego with my DH and met my dear friend who was going to the concert with me.She and I met when I moved from NY to LA decades ago, and my hubby was happy to spend time with her husband while she and I went off for our night of ecstasy. But wait, I must tell you, this was my friend's FIRST Adam concert so I was nervous about whether she would enjoy the event at all. When I asked her to come with me she sounded happy and said "Sure, he's adorable and I voted for him on Idol." So I guess you can see that she wasn't exactly a fan -or following him throughout the years like me---but she knows my passion and I guess was intrigued enough to get a little excited. Besides, we go way back and she's the dearest of friends,so....
Should I plan to go to the pre concert gathering with my friend? What would she think of spending hours with a bunch of strangers who would be wearing Adam shirts, jackets, talking about ADAM, M&Gs, following him all over the world, raving about his performances ad infinitum. So I decided to go for it, and into the Umamiburger we walked and life inside would never be the same. As you all know---because I can't mention you all by name, we were greeted by the most loving ,joyful group of people --a GLAMILY all united by our love for Adam, and my friend was immediately swept up by all the connected joy. Even before our name tags were on, I heard "Lorraine!" everywhere I turned and my friend started to realize this was "HOME" for me. We eventually had a lovely meal surrounded by folks from all over,including Canada, Israel and all over the US. My friend spent years in the Peace Corps when she was young, and has always enjoyed world travel and loves meeting people from all over the world. I needn't have been concerned about her being able to relate to the special folks we were with that night and I thank all of you for your warm, loving welcomes.
I wasn't fortunate to be able to get an M&G {the only time I met Adam was at the Del Mar Fair after a former student of mine, who is the on-air personality for a radio station here in San Diego,responded to a letter I wrote him by giving my daughter and me a pass to meet him.} Somehow, I'm never fast enough and I haven't mastered the mystique of being able to get one of those treasured front row seats but, who knows--maybe one day it will happen. But I have to stop here for a minute and acknowledge how truly blessed I am to even be able to go to Adam's concerts when so many are not able to attend at all.And, I wish it WERE possible for everyone who loves him to get the chance to see and hear him performing LIVE because there is nothing like it in all the world. His voice truly is a "Gift from God" as Brian has said.
Inside at last, dead center, aisle seat Row D! My friend was so captivated by the Orpheum, she kept taking pictures of everything. Even though she was born and raised in LA,she had never been there before and was fascinated by the ornate architecture,winding staircases,beautiful murals etc. She even took pictures of the 2 of us before the concert and I'll ask DH to see if I can post one of them here. I still don;t have the savvy to transfer photos...
We were surrounded by friendly faces everywhere. My friend was having a grand old time continuing conversations with Atoppers {You guys are simply amazing!} And then out came Alex. He certainly has talent and can sing, but I really couldn't understand any of the lyrics. He seemed sweet and tried to make us laugh.Later on, in the lobby, we saw him taking pictures with some of the Glee fans and my friend pointed out that he seemed very likable and approachable.
Another half hour went by, the lights went down.Those first notes of Evil in the Night---the audience stood in unison, a continual scream as the shadow erupted to reveal OUR ADAM--almost an unreal figure, up there on the stage and we all were floating in ecstasy.A young couple was behind me and the guy had never been to an Adam concert before. He told me he was only there because it was his girlfriend's birthday and she wanted to see him.He asked me if I thought Adam would be singing any of Queen's songs and I said I think he might do AOBTD. "Well, I might like that," he said.
You already know how amazing the songs and his voice were, so I'll just note these few thoughts. I was blown away when Adam sang that long high note at the end of FEVER!!! He didn't hold back anything.It just didn't seem possible for any human to be able to sustain and control such a note! I found it amusing when his suit button opened at the beginning of AH and he was intent on closing it in spite of the fact that the mike lowered a little and his voice was muted, albeit a few seconds. You know, it's all about the "costume." His delivery of After Hours is pure sex. I get the feeling that many of us have the same fantasy--hopping in his convertible and sitting right next to him as he drives through all those red lights in the lonely dark streets of LA. Of course when Laleh joined him for WTTS, everyone erupted in screams of delight.I loved all his cute expressions during his speech.Several times,I glanced over at my friend just to see how she was doing. Each time she was dancing, clapping, with a look of wonder in her face. I asked her,"Are you having fun?' I know, I know.....She kept saying, "He's wonderful!" I loved the Lay Me Down, Shady, Fever trilogy. The choreography is so sharp and it was a thrill to hear SHADY {one of my all-time favorites, Live.}
The only bit of frustration for me was when the aisle started to fill with people as the concert went on.Initially, the usher cleared it and sent people back to their seats, but a little later, back they came --and stayed. So of course I had to try and see between all the tall pnes,since I'm only 5 ft 2. Yet, I can't complain too much because I did see him from a very close seat-enough to see the sweat roll down his forehead and take in his magnetic smile. And, I swear, I think he glanced right at me for a fleeting moment, and everything and everyone around me disappeared.
When AOBTD started, I turned around to the handsome young man behind me in recognition---but he was too busy rockin'out to notice--and I get the feeling he hadn't just come to life for that one song!!!
The lights came up, a stunned silence, it was time to go. So I said to my friend, "Which songs did you like?" She kept repeating----"All of them, Lori. He was WONDERFUL!" Then she went on to say that she was so surprised how amazing and beautiful WYWFM sounded LIVE. Like we've heard so many times before,she remarked how much better it was than the recording.When I got home ,she had sent me several pictures from the concert-as I mentioned previously---and she also told me that she is worried she's becoming addicted to Adam because she had been listening to Youtube recordings from throughout the years and wanted to know if I've heard his chilling rendition of Girl Crush with Leona Lewis. Dare I ask her? has she become a .....?
I know this post is almost as long as a Dickens novel, but this is the only way I know how to give back a little, since I don't have the tech knowledge to post videos etc and I thought in some small way it can express my gratitude for all of you who share so much to keep us close and connected to our Beautiful One. And thank you again, Atoppers for welcoming my "virgin Adam concert friend" on Saturday night. It is a time to remember -always XO
P.S. Loving thoughts to the friends and family of dear Ingrid.R.I.P.

Adam looks gorgeous and keeping warm arriving at cold Toronto.
It was very exciting to hear WTTS watching the NCAA finals, but way too short.

OH! Lorraine...what a wonderful recap!! I am so glad your dear friend loved the concert and is/and or/becoming a Adam fan!! Did you happen to ask the "cute young guy" behind you how he liked the show after it was over? I always love hearing the reactions of people who go to an Adam concert because of someone else. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!!

You're welcome,adamrocks. I'm sorry I didn't get to ask him because he and his girlfriend were already walking down the aisle ,arm in arm looking awfully happy---and I guess THAT said enough!

They just played WTTS to introduce the final ncaa Basketball game on TBS. I wished they had put his name and the title on screen as they sometimes do, but hey, it was on! Damn, missed it again! DH is watching the game but didn't tune in until a few minutes in. Same thing happened when CBS played it the other week! So happy it was played anyhow even if I didn't hear it, haha!
