The MangoKats left today so my recap is a few days late. It was a delight to have them, we reminisced about old times (first met them in Knoxville during GNT almost 6 years ago) and jointly experienced the two TOHT at the Orpheum.
I am not going to address the vocals, the production, etc. as those have been eloquently covered by others. And to the other recappers, thank you very much for sharing.
LA1: My son and I had orchestra seats and people stood up for most of the concert. The two ladies next to me were Claymates but have moved on to Adam. They love Adam and have followed him after Idol and have been to many concerts. There was a family in front of us. The Dad and Mom danced the whole night, especially the Dad who knew every song. I think that their two teenagers were embarrassed by his wild dancing. But I say, “good for him”! I had no sound issues although I thought Alex was too loud and sounded shrill (sorry Alex). My niece and her BF, both newbies, had a fantastic time and kept saying Adam was flawless. My niece said that the theatre was not big enough to contain Adam. They were also very impressed with the Glamily and how we all support Adam and each other.
MangoKat and I spoke to the merchandise guy during the break. He has been doing this for 30 years and said that Adam is one of the nicest celebrity he has worked with. Adam says hello to him every opportunity he gets and said Adam did not have to do it but does it anyway.
LA2: We had balcony seats this time. I enjoyed it more because I had a better view and the sound was much better. However, I thought there was more energy the first night but then again, it could be that people had no choice but to stand up and dance otherwise, they won’t be able to see a thing. I was seated next to a guy who has heard of Adam but did not know much about him. He was with 3 other guys who were fans. He really enjoyed Adam and was very impressed and we exchanged emails so I can send him links to videos, especially QAL videos. He sent me an email yesterday and he was gushing! Another One Bites the Dust!
My nephew and his wife, both newbies, attended the concert. My nephew is a musician and teaches at a local school and also plays with a band. They were very impressed and at one point, thought Adam was lip synching because he was so perfect. My nephew could not believe that this was the third straight night that Adam sang. He told us that the singer in their band would not have been able to do this. Needless to say, they came away as fans. In his FB page, my nephew wrote, “What a performer. What vocals!” I am always happy when new people get to experience Adam because once he is in, he owns your heart!
I am going to savor every moment of these concerts until the next time I see Adam again.
