Yikes! That was scary - so glad Q3 posted this: because I was about to ask what she thought.  ??? >:( :-/  ETA: This appears to not be limited to just Jive but could also include RCA. I wasn't too worried. I was actually encouraged by this line: “Idol” fans spout “numbers” and “chart positions” way too easily without understanding how meaningless these figures are to a music company and its bottom line. Because of Adam's international draw, life performance success so far and his ability to take risks, yet find savvy new revenue streams, I think he is most definitely safe. I also think he would get signed by another label in a minute if RCA really gets crazy. One thing I'm a little disturbed about (but will probably have to get over) is the RIDICULOUS product placement in Britney's video. Now, I have nothing against raising funds through advertising and product placement, hell, I'm in media, that's how it's done. But there is gratuitous and there is GRATUITOUS. There was no subtlety in that whatsoever. I REALLY hope they realize the sledgehammer isn't necessary by the time Adam is making his next vids. The Sony tablet thingy Adam was reading tweets on in IIHY was fine, IMO. It's there, but there wasn't this beyond extended close-up on every logo. |

OT but a bit of Idol news -- and RCA/Jive news -- Archie has been dropped by both his management and Jive Records. There is a rumor that other Idol alums will be dropped by RCA/Jive -- but word I get is Adam is fine. (Although I can't imagine RCA dropping Adam because he has built just a great foundation for future $$$$$ for them.) Gorgeous. But, how did you get this? I don't understand. It was one of the incentives for Lee Cherry's "Labor of Love" project ... it has a full Adam autograph, plus Lee's initials, and is numbered 15 of 40. It was advertised as a limited edition of 20 when I pledged, but Lee added 20 more later on ... that kind of ticked me off (I thought it should have been a different pic for the second 20), but I'm still THRILLED to have the pic ... |

Thanks for clearing this, Q3- I have to admit the article Stardust posted earlier made me a bit uneasy, especially this part: "Without naming names, there are a few very good contestants from “American Idol” of seasons past- and not that far back- whose recording careers with Sony are tenuous at best. If their first albums did only “okay” despite being linked to the hype built around the Season from which they came, what chance is there of their second and third albums doing any better?"I know that Adam is not with Jive, but Kris is? But he is also working on his new album so he should be safe too?? Really sad for a young artist like Archuleta. Rumor is that Lee, Crystal, Kris and Fantasia will also be dropped by RCA/Jive. Adam is fine. Carrie, Kelly P., Cook, Daughtry and Kelly are fine. (except that Kelly's album has still not be accepted and Barry Weiss is rumored to be leaving it for his successor to deal with.) Casey hasn't released yet so not up for option. No buzz on Gokey at all but my guess is he is OK. Same for Jordin, bet she is OK but no buzz. Did I miss anyone? |

That is a high rank for a DVD set that will not be out for over a month.

And RIAA even more likely will be combined. Closer to Platinum every day!!
