Q3 - this is actually the lowest the DVD/CD has been on Amazon since it became available  I think it peaked around #15 in music (not sure exactly which number = didn't watch it that closely - just a couple times per day) and has been slowly moving down (I assume most of us fans that know about it have already pre-ordered) (I think it became available on Amazon on the 11th since that is the date on my order, so it was over #100 for about a week) |

This is a purely selfish point of view & I hope you'll forgive me, but I am glad things are slow right now because I have house guests and won't be able to check in much for the next few days. It'll be hard. Damn hard. |

It is a nice presale for an album that is 16 months old. ;D |

Thanks for clearing this, Q3- I have to admit the article Stardust posted earlier made me a bit uneasy, especially this part: "Without naming names, there are a few very good contestants from “American Idol” of seasons past- and not that far back- whose recording careers with Sony are tenuous at best. If their first albums did only “okay” despite being linked to the hype built around the Season from which they came, what chance is there of their second and third albums doing any better?"I know that Adam is not with Jive, but Kris is? But he is also working on his new album so he should be safe too?? Really sad for a young artist like Archuleta. Rumor is that Lee, Crystal, Kris and Fantasia will also be dropped by RCA/Jive. Adam is fine. Carrie, Kelly P., Cook, Daughtry and Kelly are fine. (except that Kelly's album has still not be accepted and Barry Weiss is rumored to be leaving it for his successor to deal with.) Casey hasn't released yet so not up for option. No buzz on Gokey at all but my guess is he is OK. Same for Jordin, bet she is OK but no buzz. Did I miss anyone? I hope that rumour doesn't come true. It seems too soon for Lee and Crystal. Fantasia seems to be doing reasonably well in sales. Of course, her image is just a mess. Kris has been in LA writing. Also, I would not want to have to deal with the Adam backlash if this were actually to occur. |

I know nothing, but I thought Fantasia's album was selling pretty good, and she won a Grammy. Q3, do you think she is not safe? How about Kris, how can they drop him while he is making an album? My bet is Lee will be dropped because the numbers are not good, he has no hit singles, there is nothing to indicate he has a market. They may keep him for a while just because they can without a contract option. Expect this news after August 2011. (His album is dead -- even an Idol appearance will not help.) I actually think that Crystal deserves a second album but her sales were not good either and she has no single. (She might be saved by an Idol appearance if it is a big moment. Not putting my money on that.) Kris is writing songs but that doesn't mean that Jive has optioned the next album. I have no idea what will happen but there is no word on a second album from Jive -- and not a good sign. I would not be surprised either way about Kris but it just doesn't seem like a smart investment to spend $1.5 million on his album. My guess is they told him to write some songs and if Jive thinks they will sell, they will option his album. No sign he can write a hit. In any case, all of this has nothing to do with Adam. It is part of the business -- and most artists only get one major label album. And I am sad for Archie. |
