This article is rlly interesting...it's abt Gaga's drastic sales decline. Some of the points about how the 99 cent gimmick devalued the album and points about artists that appeal to older and younger demos are interesting.. ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/60719602.html#cutid1The concluding paragraph of this LATimes blog is..... “It isn't inconceivable to think of a day soon when Gaga and other superstar acts will use radio and social networks and giveaways to create massive international hits -- not defined by sales but by the number of fans that are familiar with and excited by the music.” Without the record labels paying for first albums and investing in artists, who will fund them. And are Gaga fans going to front $10 million for her next album? Somebody has to sell something that makes money -- somewhere. I think. Or the whole machine will fall apart. It is not inconceivable that within a few years the only music available in traditional stores will be collectors gift sets, cheap reissues of catalog albums and a handful of top sellers/big new releases. It really isn't a question of if any more, just a question of how long it will take.

Hi everyone - delurking to thank everyone for the kind birthday wishes yesterday and to try my hand at posting, since it's a slow day. There have been so many interesting and clever ideas suggested for the Adam 2 campaign that I'm almost embarrassed to tell you the first thing that popped into my head - lambert , small L , the physics definition. (I live with an engineer A striking photo of Adam, simple, stripped down, shades of light and dark, with the caption; 'lam-bert n: unit of brightness or luminance Get ready to open your minds and let in the light Then I remembered Q3's rule "respect the artist", lol. Whatever form the real campaign takes, I hope it reflects Adam - intelligent, edgy, stylish, with wit and a sense of humor. Since he likes to express himself through photography and creates images that are striking and powerful, I wouldn't mind seeing a series of photos, revealed over time. Maybe starting with just the eyes, then a silhouette or darkened profile, a rear view, or a fist thrust in the air. Just arresting pictures with an enticing caption, no name, to get people wondering who this beautiful creature is. Maybe on various ISP's so you would see it every time you open your email. I can't wait to see what Adam has in mind for himself. P.S. My DH's reaction to my small L definition idea? "how about, get lambert - get lit! " : Oh, love that. I am adding Lambert to the ATop dictionary!!!! Added it here: adamtopia.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=announcement&thread=350&page=1

I love the way y'all defend Adam's fidelity and I didn't mean to suggest that he wouldn't be loyal or couldn't be trusted. But you never know what might transpire under certain circumstances. As much as I love Adam, I'm not totally convinced that he will always make the best decisions, especially when adrenaline, testosterone and alcohol are involved. I guess I've just known too many "cheaters" in my life lol. I just think having Sauli around on the road might not be a bad thing...all the way around !! JMHO YMMV, etc. LOL, not sure there is anything to defend, I trust Adam at his word and then let the universe take care of the rest

I hope Q3 sees your suggestion and puts it with the rest (I think she had mentioned sending our ideas to BB).

I am thinking that unless someone comes up with a genius way to revolutionize music sales, that artists will have to rely on money made from concerts and merchandise and other side projects. Like celeb perfumes. LOL. Which begs the bigger question....when will the market become so over saturated with celeb perfume lines that the whole thing just falls apart? LOL

I wonder if we won't see the rise of indie artists making deals with a variety of independent online store that sells to directly to the consumer. I know they are in existence now.. but I think these might take a deeper hold after the music industry markets itself into a hole with the same 5 artists.

From what he has said while on the road With the Glam nationTour.. he tried to get enough rest, ate properly and tried not to burn out. He often went to bed early and spent a day off watching movies and ordering room service. Of course he might not have been alone, but from the sound of a number of interviews , he wanted alone time. Sauli seems willing to fly off to see Adam very often so ,it's all good. I sure don't have any worries, even though this certainly isn't my business.

Some are a ton of fun, some might even happen but Adam has a pro team working on this. I am collating the ideas and posting them publicly but not sending directly to Adam.
