I have to say that when he tweets to someone and makes their day like this, I am just as happy as the person he tweets to. The flailing is all kinds of awesome. I would give up a tweet from Adam to make someone that happy! Awww...he made their day and mine too with his response. How sweet was that. BTW - Cook had Q4 CD's in the bottom right hand corner of the new music rack in my Walmart. Adam had Q3 FYE's and Q4 Glam Nation Live's. They do sell and restock regularly there. I keep track. ;D

The concluding paragraph of this LATimes blog is..... “It isn't inconceivable to think of a day soon when Gaga and other superstar acts will use radio and social networks and giveaways to create massive international hits -- not defined by sales but by the number of fans that are familiar with and excited by the music.” Without the record labels paying for first albums and investing in artists, who will fund them. And are Gaga fans going to front $10 million for her next album? Somebody has to sell something that makes money -- somewhere. I think. Or the whole machine will fall apart. It is not inconceivable that within a few years the only music available in traditional stores will be collectors gift sets, cheap reissues of catalog albums and a handful of top sellers/big new releases. It really isn't a question of if any more, just a question of how long it will take. I wonder if we won't see the rise of indie artists making deals with a variety of independent online store that sells to directly to the consumer. I know they are in existence now.. but I think these might take a deeper hold after the music industry markets itself into a hole with the same 5 artists. I know a couple of indie artists (small and big) have done the "download the music and pay what you think it's worth" route, and I wondered how well that experiment has worked out for them? I don't think it would work for big names, but for small/starting out ones as an occasional strategy?

Wow! Glad someone liked my ideas and they weren't as nutty as they seemed once I held my breath and hit reply.
The music business is so crazy these days, I can't imagine how hard it is to come up with new ideas for promotion when it seems like it's all been done before.
I know I'm biased, but Adam is unique and seems to inspire passion and creativity in so many ways. I'm sure his campaign will reflect this.

Hi everyone - delurking to thank everyone for the kind birthday wishes yesterday and to try my hand at posting, since it's a slow day. There have been so many interesting and clever ideas suggested for the Adam 2 campaign that I'm almost embarrassed to tell you the first thing that popped into my head - lambert , small L , the physics definition. (I live with an engineer A striking photo of Adam, simple, stripped down, shades of light and dark, with the caption; 'lam-bert n: unit of brightness or luminance Get ready to open your minds and let in the light Then I remembered Q3's rule "respect the artist", lol. Whatever form the real campaign takes, I hope it reflects Adam - intelligent, edgy, stylish, with wit and a sense of humor. Since he likes to express himself through photography and creates images that are striking and powerful, I wouldn't mind seeing a series of photos, revealed over time. Maybe starting with just the eyes, then a silhouette or darkened profile, a rear view, or a fist thrust in the air. Just arresting pictures with an enticing caption, no name, to get people wondering who this beautiful creature is. Maybe on various ISP's so you would see it every time you open your email. I can't wait to see what Adam has in mind for himself. P.S. My DH's reaction to my small L definition idea? "how about, get lambert - get lit! " : wow, I'm impressed with this. Welcome and thanks for illuminating us.

After seeing Charity water make 300,000 and after seeing Monte raise over 66,000 with Kickstarter, I have no doubt that Adam's fans could fund his album if need be! He'd probably get a bigger profit even that way!

I can so easily imagine the way it would unfold that I'm frustrated to think that it won't happen unless Adam or someone he's working with hears about it and is receptive to it. I wish we knew a way to pass it along that would guarantee it would be seen by the right people. Fans bombard celebrities with suggestions all the time and it's too easy for a really good idea to get lost in the crowd.

Fans bombard celebrities with suggestions all the time and it's too easy for a really good idea to get lost in the crowd. RCA Promo seems to really read their tweets. Maybe that's one avenue. But also, I got the feeling, from Chamillionaire at the Summit, that if they directly use a fan's suggestion there has to be a contract and such drawn up. But maybe I misunderstood something he was saying.

Hi wilkie! Happy bday and so glad you delurked. A couple of things I'm thinking of with the other suggestions we've had. What about a direct-to-fan scenario? Fans know they are getting an exclusive and they will pay a premium amount of money. Bottom line, it seems artists must leverage and build their fans; it's the only thing that's going to keep them afloat. I was blown away to read how many of Gaga's "Monsters" are still ripping her off. That is unconscionable to me. Somehow, some way, the industry has to establish a tacit relationship between audience and artist so that people will not consider stealing from that person. I do think all of this bodes well for Adam, but he needs to foster it more. Sorry, Adam, I rarely criticize you, but you need to nurture this a LITTLE more. I'm not saying you need to kowtow to us, but you DO need to acknowledge the relationship a little bit more. (Hai any of Adam's camp who might be lurking!! )

That sounds likely to me. I know that actors, singers, producers, etc., try to avoid looking at or listening to any unsolicited submission of material for fear of facing a lawsuit down the line if they later become involved in a project that even remotely resembles the submitted script or song. I've heard that you mail a script to a production company, they tear off a big enough corner to peek in and verify that it is indeed a script, and then they return it to you unopened.
