What if Adam……….?
7.8.11 by Q3
We know almost nothing about TBD by Adam Lambert and the lead single TBD by Adam Lambert. But one thing is certain – there will be some controversy related to Adam when he starts promoting the album. So I have decided to create my own dream controversy.
Come with me to August 13, 2011 -- the near future.
We can just observe the future, we cannot alter or change it. But I will give you a sneak preview.
Q3’s fantastic controversy -- August 13, 2011. Adam performed at the 2011 Los Angeles Equality Awards. He debuted his new single and people loved it!!. Adam and the band left the stage. The formally attired audience cheered and screamed for an encore with the enthusiasm of 9 year old girls at a Bieber concert. The band returned to the stage and Monte started playing a riff over-and-over while the band prepared ready to play. Unconsciously, Monte started to play the famous riff the “American Woman”. Tommy joined in. No big deal -- they were just playing filler music.
Adam returned to the stage and the band kept playing. Adam picked up the mike and sang along. “American Woman” “American Woman”.
Adam didn't know the lyrics but in the spirit of the moment he just made something up and sand his own lyrics. It was oddly similar to how the original song was created. (See below.)
American Woman lyrics (Adam Lambert version)
American woman
Stay away from me
American Woman
Mama let me be
Don’t come hanging around my door
I don’t want to see your face no more
I got more important things to do
Then spend my time growing old with you
American Woman
Stay away from me
American woman
Baby let me be
Don’t come knocking around my door
I don’t want to see your shadow no more
Extacy can hypnotize
Go and sparkle someone else’s eyes
Now woman I said get away
American Woman listen what I say
American Woman I said get away
American woman listen what I say
Don’t come hanging around my door
I don’t want to see your face no more
I don’t need your tea parties
I don’t need your morality
Fear and hate can hypnotize
Sparkle someone else’s eyes
Now woman, get away from me
American woman, mama let me be
Go, gotta get away, gotta get away
Now go go go
Equality, woman
Equality, woman
Equality
Equality
You’re no good for me
I’m no good for you
Gonna look you right in the eye.
Tell you what I’m gonna do
You know I’m not gonna leave
You know I’m not gonna go
You know we’re gonna win
You know we’re gonna stay, woman
we’re not gonna leave, woman
Goodbye, American Woman
Then it began....
55 minutes after the performance a video of the performance appeared on YouTube. Fans loved it. Adam did a great rock performance. It was a vocal masterpiece. The audience loved it.
67 minutes after the performance, #AmericanWoman trended worldwide.
Within 1 hour and 15 minutes of the performance a clip of the video was on Fox News. During their late night news-talk show, Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld, the video was shown and a young conservative panelist was outraged about the Tea Party comment. There were references to a “left-wing gay conspiracy” led by Adam Lambert. Twitter started to explode and Adam was responsible for a trend or two.
By 7:00AM EDT on August 14th, 7 of the 10 worldwide treads were related to the performance and ensuing controversy.
This time, the majority of American’s though Adam was great and right. And as the controversy grew, Adam gained more support.
The controversy moved across the internet, cable TV news and even to the 2012 US Presidential Race. Front runner Mitt Romney took a poll, then condemned Adam. Michelle Bachmann claimed that she was the American Woman and proudly defended the Tea Party. Sarah Palin knew she was the topic of the song and had her people issue a press release. President Obama did not address the controversy directly and did not mention Adam by name but made a speech where he strongly supported Marriage Equality.
RCA didn’t miss a beat this time. Adam’s performance of “EQCA American Woman” was released on iTunes within 36 hours of the performance. Proceeds, at Adam’s direction, were donated to Equality California, It Gets Better, and The Trevor Project. The track was #1 on iTunes for 17 consecutive days. Idol mavens confirmed that this was an all-time Idol record. Later, iTunes confirmed that it was also a iTunes record.
Adam’s new single was released as scheduled on August 30th and knocked “EQCA American Woman” down to #2.
A bit of background on the original song.
"American Woman" is a song by Canadian rock band The Guess Who, first released in February 1970 on the album of the same name and later in March as a single, as a double A-side with "No Sugar Tonight." It was #1 in the US for 3 weeks. The Guess Who were already huge in Canada, but this broke them in The States. The song has been covered by many rock artists, including Lenny Kravitz, Krokus, and The Butthole Surfers.
The song's origins took the form of a live jam at a curling rink concert in Kitchener, Ontario. The group was rushing into the second set and began improvising a rhythm to liven up the crowd. Burton Cummings, the lead singer, began improvising lyrics to fit the music.
Randy Bachman explained the origins of this song in an interview with Words & Music magazine, Spring 2005. Said Bachman: "We were playing in a curling rink in Kitchener, Ontario (Canada), and I broke a string. I was up there alone, tuning up my E an B strings on an old Les Paul. I started playing that riff and in the audience, heads started turning. The band got up, and I said, 'Keep playing this, I don't want to forget it.' When Burton had run out of solos, I yelled out, 'Sing something!' So out of the blue Burton just screamed, 'American Woman, stay away from me!' That was the song, the riff and Burton yelling that line over and over. Later, he added other lines like 'I don't need your war machine, you ghetto scenes.' Before America knew it, it was a #1 record and it was a protest song."
Due to the anti-American lyrics, The Guess Who was not allowed to play this when they performed at the White House for President Richard Nixon in 1970.

Non-controversial songs that Adam must never sing
When I was writing my Adam cover song fantasy, I thought about other cover Adam could do – and also songs he should never do!!
Here are a few songs that Adam should never consider covering but that would not cause a big stir – just a “Ws—at!?!” Most are awful, awful songs that should never have been hits, but a few are just so wrong for Adam.
Jefferson Starship "We Built This City"
Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart"
Limp Bizkit "Rollin'"
Vanilla Ice "Ice Ice Baby"
Right Said Fred "I'm Too Sexy"
America's "A Horse With No Name"
Richard Harris’ "MacArthur Park"
Donny Osmond’s "Puppy Love"
Live the Life will be on iTunes
@jscottgofficial Guess what. I'm uploading "Live The Life" to iTunes right now. Should be out in a couple weeks to buy. Yeah really.

This is a song that was recorded before Adam did American Idol, and Adam is just credited as a featured artist indicating that his only involvement may have been to record the vocal track.
