Heeeyyyy, girls and (one or two) guys!!! I have been sort of busy with rl lately, haven't had a chance to do more than sporadically check twitter. Enough to know Adam is making himself pretty scarce. So-- just thought I'd drop a quick update on my one Adam convert-- my trainer. She asked yesterday whether Adam would ever be here again. She said, "does he do that/ Give concerts and stuff?" Yes! I said. He is working on a new album and will tour to support it. "Oh, good. I CAN'T WAIT to see him!" The woman who was just leaving piped up... "Me, too!" Apparently my trainer has been indoctrinating her other clients. I am a happy and satisfied Adam fan. I feel so fulfilled. So happy. So..... useful. I can't wait to find another victim potential convert. Heee. This makes me strangely happy ;D ;D ;D

I think we have just seen "the tip of the iceberg" of Adam's talent. Me too! This is part of what makes me so excited for new material. He is going to blow us away!!!

Not meaning to be a Pollyanna, but am loving the positive vibe tonight. Some say we're as happy as we decide to be, but Adam sure makes it easier!
Reihmer - Thanks for the AI8 retrospective...

I think Adam is working very hard, while trying to also have a personal life. What did fans do before twitter & face book, As an Atoper so aptly asked a few pages back. I sure never expected in days gone by to hear from my favorite singers or actors.. I read about them in magazines or the newspapers. I was just so content to hear their new songs or see their new films. Are we really so bored because Adam hasn't tweeted one line in a few days.. If Adam is the only thing keeping us from boredom... we've got to re-think our addiction. There is always the Betty Ford Clinic.. If we go in mass ,maybe we could get good rates.LOL Someone needs to re-post those addiction centers that used to get posted regularly, anyone ? : ;D

Such a dry spell in Adamland. Might as well break out the ol' AI marathon for the fun of it. [/qoute] I've been revising ol' AI too 8-) I can't stop my stomach fluttering while watching Adam's sing "whole lotta love" drool so much sexiness is intoxicating.

Alright, I really hope that I don't offend anyone, but from visiting at least three Adam fan sites as well as twitter, I think I have to rant or something, as I'm becoming increasingly bewildered at the memo everywhere that Adam is isolating or ignoring his fan base and that they're gonna go and away and leave him because he's not regularly tweeting once or more times a day. I think that fans have gotten a bit spoiled by those frequent twitter parties that he have done when he got his million followers. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I've followed him, Adam never seemed to be that much of a prolific twitterer. I mean wasn't it a joke among his fans that he only used twitter to clear up rumors, explaining himself in cleaning up the rumors, promoting other artists and the weather? And I would also put ranting in there to get away cray stalker fans who dissed, and jumped on his loved ones. Even during Idol, with the exception of Feeling Good, we never got a leak of a song that he was going to sing for the following week, we were all surprised and elated on the day of the performances. We know how much Adam loves to stun and surprise us, and considering we knew what airport terminal and that it was in Miami that Adam was at just by looking at the picture of the restaurant in the background and knowing where he was at on vacation cause he was standing by the brochures to Bora Bora , I think that he probably knows how good his fans are at finding any information that he leaks out, no matter how small it is. Being as someone who really loves to be surprised and hate to be spoiled, by knowing the ending, or key elements of books, movies, shows etc., even thought it's a bit dry at times, I'm really enjoying the fact that he keeping almost everything close to the vest until near release time. I know I'm kind of late to the party but just wanted to say that if TWOP was one of the places you visited just please ignore the trolls. There are a few people who routinely troll that thread trying to stir up shit. The moderator used to shut that thing down on an annoyingly regular basis until most of the core posters learned to either ignore or snark back at the trolls. There was a troll post there today at 12:30 along the lines of what you are worried about but all the other posts afterwards were OTT humorous jabs at the troll. Nothing to see there. I would venture to say that it was probably the same story on other boards. There are a few dedicated Adam haters that spend an awful lot of energy concern trolling on Adam sites. Some of them have disguised themselves so well that people think they are fans. As far as Adam's twitter activity goes I think Adam is a master at employing the most powerful reward model used in operant conditioning. It is what makes gambling addictive and that is "variable ratio of reward". Adam's use of twitter is totally unpredictable and ranges everywhere from little or no tweets to full fledged twitter parties with no predictability and no regularity. This is the variable ratio that actually intensifies interest and response. In operant conditioning if you want to extinguish a behavior you can do so by rewarding it on a constant basis with the same level of reward every time. The reward becomes so monotonous that the behavior is actually discouraged rather than encouraged. The quickest way to solidify a behavior is to vary both the rate and the intensity of the reward. All of these people who are kvetching about Adam not tweeting are actually paying MORE attention to him than usual because the ratio of reward changed. I'm not in the least worried about people losing interest because he has never gone anywhere near long enough without tweeting to actually loose people's attention.

chunkey and marie23 I have seen some of what you are talking. Not tweeted directly to Adam so often, but amongst twitter friends talking to each other (but since they have a lot of followers it's not exactly a private conversation.) I don't think it has anything to do with Adam and his tweeting patterns which aren't that different from usual as people have pointed out, but more with us, the "hardcore" fans. We joke about it, but the feed of Adam info from multiple sources is a daily habit, even an addiction in some cases. This has gone on fairly steadily with brief interruptions at most for two years. It's understandable that a longer interruption is going to cause more than a little boredom for the small group that has made it part of their daily lives for two years and they may get a little irrational and upset about it at times along with joking and grumbling. It's something I think about with regards to myself. I think Adam would hope for us to #getoneofourown (although we often do have happy and fulfilling lives, we've just made stanning him a small part of them, just like any other enthusiasm or obsession), and it makes me wonder what the actual difference is to him or to his label between a hardcore 24/7 stan and a more casual, but still album buying/concert attending fan. Then I realize that that really doesn't matter. For me it comes down to is what I'm doing making me happy? Can I adjust in ways that still make me happy if the experience of fandom continues to change or evolve? You've hit upon the truth of this standom for me. I have been adjusting. I fit the standom into my life, rather than allow it to lead me. I can pretty much tell now when there is going to be wank. I stress when people are worrying too much. So I go do something else. I'm much happier and still consider myself a stan. When there is reason to rejoice or flail, I'm right here and on twitter to bask in the glow and join in on the fun. My own devotion to Adam is still as strong as it was in the beginning, but it, like the fandom, has changed and evolved.. as you so astutely observe. I think that kind of growth is key to every healthy relationship.
