Special U.S. Election Day News Thread Rules
Today is election day in the U.S. (in case you had not heard).
I want to thank everyone for their restraint over the past few months in not discussing the election here. It allowed Adamtopia to be a place mostly free of the nastiest political campaign of our lifetime.
For the next 24 hours, I am opening up discussion to include the U.S. Election. All other rules apply. Please be respectful of all Adamtopia Members.
This is an important election. There is more on the ballot than the Presidency.
The entire U.S. House of Representatives will be elected.
34 U.S. Senators will be elected. Right now it looks like the Senate could end up with 50 Republicans and 50 Democrats (includes 2 Independents who caucus with the Democrats).
12 Governors and countless State Legislators, Local Officials and Judges will be elected.
Voters in California, Massachusetts, Maine, Arizona and Nevada will decide whether marijuana should that would make the drug legal to possess and use in small amounts for people over 21. Four other states are voting to legalize medical marijuana: Arkansas, Florida, Montana, and North Dakota.
California has 16 more statewide propositions including Prop Proposition 56 increasing the cigarette tax by $2 per pack, with comparable increases on electronic cigarettes containing nicotine and other products, Prop. 60 requiring condoms in porn and Prop. 67: Banning single-use plastic bags.
The Death Penalty, Gun and Ammo Regulations, and Prescription Drug cost control is in on the ballot in several states.

‘X Factor Australia’ 2016 Top 7 Live recap:
Performances of Brentwood, Vlado Saric, Isaiah Firebrace fall flat; Dami Im mentors Guy Sebastian’s singers
Mel B blows her top over Beatz’s messy rehearsal
By Karla Tecson @iamkarlatecson on November 07 2016 3:28 PM
“X Factor Australia” promised to deliver the best of the best episode on its third live performance night, and the magnificent seven certainly rose up to that challenge.
The magnificent seven were tasked to perform a song – from a selection of some of the world’s greatest hits – chosen by the public. Adding pressure to an already tense-filled night, the contestants only found out which song they are actually performing right before they sing. Adding star factor to the hit reality competition, the Hall Famers returned to mentor the finalists, while judges Adam Lambert, Guy Sebastian, Iggy Azalea and Mel B made their teams rehearse two songs.
Guy appeared to be a nit-picking critic during the entire episode, with Mel B even calling him “grumpy pants.” However, his singers stood out from the pack that night, receiving an extra push from “X Factor Australia” 2013 winner and Eurovision Song Contest runner-up Dami Im. Fuelled by Dami’s inspiring words, Chynna got the judges’ approval after performing “Mercy” by Duffy. She got a standing ovation from all three judges except Adam, who still said loved he her swag this week, including the growling at the end. Mel, on the other hand, said she’s beginning to see Chynna’s “X Factor” properly.
Dami also got the chance to talk to Guy’s other singer, Davey Woder. While Dami barely got a word in during their conversation, Davey also appeared to be inspired and gave an impressive rendition of “Working Class Man” by Jimmy Barnes. The judges loved it, and Guy even bravely calls him a new icon.
The rest of the top seven earned mixed reactions from the judges [see list below]. If Monday’s decider was up to the judges, any of these five would go home. However, considering the two back to back shocking elimination episodes, anything could happen.
Brentwood (Iggy’s groups)
-- Mentored by Jess and Matt, Season 7 finalist
-- Performed “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac
Amalia (Adam’s Under 22s)
-- Mentored by Jai Waetford, Season 5 third placer
-- Sang “Mamma Mia” by ABBA
Isaiah Firebrace (Adam’s Under 22s)
-- Mentored by Cyrus, Season 7 winner
-- Performed “Happy” by Pharell
Beatz (Mel B’s Underdogs)
-- Mentored by Samantha Jade, Season 4 winner
-- Sang “Single Ladies” by Beyonce
Vlado (Mel B’s Underdogs)
-- Mentored by Taylor Henderson, Season 5 runner-up
-- Performed “Thriller” by Michael Jackson

Anna Kendrick Has a Lot of Feelings About Taco Bell, Emily Ratajkowski, and Sexy Bakeries
The actress is gunning for the best-seller list with her new collection of humorous essays
November 7, 2016 Marielle Wakim
Near-ubiquity can be a death knell for even the most winning celebrities (we’re pulling for you, Anne Hathaway). But omnipresence has yet to betray Anna Kendrick. The 31-year-old Oscar- and Tony-nominated actress, who moved to L.A. from Maine in her late teens, has been in six movies over the past year and five times as many as that since 2003. Her self-deprecating tweets have become the stuff of internet listicle legend, and every foul-mouthed, magnetic interview she gives would suggest we are all Anna Kendrick and she is all of us. (She survived on coconut Snoballs and Fritos during her first months in L.A., just as you probably did.)
...
Four Angelenos you’d recruit for your dream a cappella group?
Adam Lambert, who was one of my first friends in L.A. He did my makeup on the night that we met. And then five years later I was like, “Oh, do you sing? Oh, I see.” That’s on me, I did not know that. Steve Martin seems really musical, and we should have someone with a music theory background. Kelley Jakle, who is one of the unsung heroes of Pitch Perfect. She always knows everybody’s parts, so she would do all the legwork. And then maybe Emily Rarararara…?

Here Are Some Star-Studded Remakes I'm Desperate To See
By Michael Musto

Hollywood loves nothing more than trotting a hit property out of mothballs and gussying it up again for some hot star to earn all new cash with. So I’ve got some ideas for remakes, and if they work out, seeing the result will be its own reward. Generally, I feel that good movies shouldn’t be remade—just bad ones, to make them better. But let’s mix up the field to make things broader, and give us some remakes we could live with—even of films that are fab enough to begin with. Here goes everything:
….
*CHICAGO. Is it too soon for a remake of the flashy, trashy musical about celebrity justice? Probably not, especially since that show, about a pair of leggy criminals in tune with razzle dazzle, will obviously never die on Broadway (along with the Phantom menace). In the new version, set on the reality competition show circuit, Taylor Swift could rock it as Roxie, Demi Lovato might have the tough edge for Velma, and Adam Lambert could be slippery lawyer Billy Flynn. “And that’s good, isn’t it…?”
