As I'm not from the US I didn't partake in this discussion, but I read it. I was pretty shocked when I found out on Wednesday morning that HeWhoCannot amed had won. Especially what he and his running mate can do to Adam's rights (and his friends) frightens me, but also what damage he can do to the world. I truly hope that he means at least part of his speech on Wednesday about being a president for all Americans and that things turn out ok. On twitter I found an article that showed me some insight in how the people in the US work. It's very en-lighting in why people voted for HeWhoCannot amed and why he was able to convince all those people that he is a good candidate. hbr.org/2016/11/what-so-many-people-dont-get-about-the-u-s-working-classIt is an interesting article but I don't think it captures the issues or explains why people voted for Donald HeWhoCannot amed. The exit polls indicate that the majority of voters voted as they had in the past. Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents voted for HeWhoCannot amed. Democrats and Democratic-leaning Independents voted for Hillary. Very few people shifted. >> I did a lot of research about this election -- part of my work. There are many forces effecting the Middle Class -- decline of manufacturing jobs in the US (and other countries) are vanishing due to offshoring to Mexico and Asia, and automation. Today, 8.8% of US Working have jobs in manufacturing. In 1970 it was 24.6%. fred.stlouisfed.org/series/USAPEFANAWe have not replaced these jobs. Plus, instead of making $65,000 a year working in a steel plant, you might be lucky and get a job in a non-union Toyota plant making $36,000 or, if you are unlucky, you can work at McDonalds for $9/hr, 30 hours a week. Perhaps you are a computer programmer and 50 years old. You are probably close to unemployable in most of the US, because we have too many computer programmers and no need for all these expensive, over-qualified, older workers. Without doing a full labor report -- there are not enough jobs quality, full-time jobs for US workers, and there are many jobs that are vacant because there are not enough skilled people to do them. And to make matters worse, Millennials (who are great in so many ways) are not starting new businesses at the same rate as the previous two generations. I split my time between Akron, OH (Industrial Midwest, very Democratic) and Tupelo, MS (South Central, Rural City, very Republican) -- two very different places but both are filled with "working class" people and the issues are the same. Finally, I think "working class" is a term that only people who are not part of it use. Every time I have interviewed someone who meets the definition of "working class," they say they are middle class.

I am leaving this discussion open -- but if it continues to go off the rails, I will close it,
THIS IS NOT A REQUEST -- take a deep breadth -- and stick to facts. The thread is filled with things that are speculation, exaggerated or just not true. I heard HeWhoCannot amed accused of being anti-Semitic by a cable TV talker today. Since his son-in-law and closest advisor is an orthodox Jew, and his daughter is a Jewish convert, and his grandchildren are Jewish, I find this claim really questionable. Steve Bannon, his close advisor, is both pro-Israel and has made many anti-Semitic comments. IMO I find Steve Bannon very troubling and hope he has a limited role in the HeWhoCannot amed administration. In any case, I understand how hard it is to sort out the rhetoric from the facts. I am not calling out Smokeyvera specifically but I am using her post as an example. Everything in the post I have heard on MSNBC or CNN. And a lot of it is speculation, exaggerated or just not true. So I have added notes to her post. My notes are in blue. I used Polifact and HeWhoCannot amed's official position statements as references. I am going to reiterate my concerns about HeWhoCannot amed's corporations. No bank would loan him money after at least 6 bankruptcies [Donald J. HeWhoCannot amed has never filed bankruptcies -- six companies the he has owned in part or full have filed for and been granted bankruptcies. Five of these bankruptcies were related to the gaming industry - Caesar's Entertainment and many other gaming companies have filed BK. ] and with a few more brewing [none known according to Polifact], so he is up to ears more likely dealing with Russian oligarchs, or the Chinese banks. [His businesses have loans from Chinese banks -- so do many US businesses and the US Government.]
The fact we do not get to see his tax returns, he has said once that if his returns were viewed that would change the tide of the voting. We could at least see who he is paying interest to. [No we probably could not see this on his personal taxes, his businesses have the big loans.] Having his children operating his companies leaves HeWhoCannot amed full access to daily operations. They should be directed by the court to be placed in blind trust with a third party operating them with no family interference whatsoever. [There is NO constitutional prohibition to running a business while you are President -- and no court has this power.] This way leaving no chances of conflict of interest. His Policy decisions would not affect and increase their wealth. [The are very strict conflict of interest rules and, if he breaks the law, I have no doubt there will be the votes to Impeach him. I think he and his team is sharp enough to not break the law.]
He has stated he would drain the Washington D,C, swamp, but so far he is considering career politicians, or people who should have been jailhttp://adamtopia.com/post/790966/quote/3934?page=19ed during the 2008 fall. [He has not appointed or named anyone yet except Mike *&@^#.] Gutting Social security and medicare [FALSE - HeWhoCannot amed's position - Preserve Medicare for future generations. No changes to promised Social Security benefits.] and ACA is a high priority, like now, but with no alternatives. [FALSE - HeWhoCannot amed and Republicans - what to replace ACA. There are two different plans.] if you were born after 1957, you will never get SS or medicare. [FALSE - HeWhoCannot amed opposed Ryan on cust, and even Ryan is not for eliminating SS and Medicare.] Ryan is spearheading this. HeWhoCannot amed et al cannot touch the supreme court decision on same sex marriage, unless someone files a case and the Supreme Court chooses to rescind their first decision. Besides they have 5 justices that would out vote any changes.
I truly feel violated by this con man. It has only been 2 days and we are seeing who he truly is.
He has the attention span of a gnat, and I truly believe he is learning disabled. [There is no indication that he is learning disabled.] *&@^# will be the leader. Christies has been pushed out as heading up the transition. *&@^# is now in charge. [It appears that *&@^# will take on a role similar to Joe Biden's role in the Obama administration. Personally, I am glad that Christie is no long leading the transition team -- he is not an honest man.]
We will know know what kind of President Donald HeWhoCannot amed will be until he takes office. My hope and expectation is that he will not do anything that negatively affects Gay Rights and will not rescind Obama's executive order in this area. There is much about HeWhoCannot amed that one can criticize and/or disagree with. Let's stick to the facts.

Yes for 4 years he will need someone to talk sense into him. That's reassuring. I agree with Adam. I only hope Adam and the LGBT can get through this unscathed and their rights left intact. LOL,The pivot is back. Most politicians mark their personal sends, he does not. The tracking during the campaign was to watch the device ID. Has anyone checked what device that was sent from? It was from his device -- but JMHO I don't think he wrote that second tweet.

And I agree with Mayumi HeWhoCannot amed is morally bankrupt.

linkis.com/washingtonpost.com/UR6zV If you voted for HeWhoCannot amed because he’s ‘anti-establishment,’ guess what: You got conned
..... No, their commitment is to be of service to that most oppressed and forgotten group of Americans, the wealthy. HeWhoCannot amed’s tax plan would give 47 percent of its benefits to the richest one percent of taxpayers. Paul Ryan’s tax plan is even purer — it gives 76 percent of its cuts to the richest one percent in its first year, and by 2025 would feed 99.6 percent of its benefits to the top 1 percent. ..... What are the priorities HeWhoCannot amed and the Republican Congress will be pursuing right out of the gate? There’s the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, of course. “Take that, establishment!”, 20 million people can say when they lose their health coverage. ...... Now to be clear, the fact that in some ways — hiring lobbyists, cutting taxes for the wealthy, gutting regulations — HeWhoCannot amed is going to be little different from any other Republican president doesn’t mean that he isn’t uniquely dangerous. He’s reckless, impulsive, vindictive, hateful, and authoritarian, and his presidency is going to be somewhere between disastrous and cataclysmic, likely in ways we can’t even imagine yet. But one thing it will not be is a threat to the establishment, or the system, or whatever you want to call it. The wealthy and powerful will have more wealth and power when he’s done, not less. There’s a lot that HeWhoCannot amed will upend, but if you’re a little guy who thinks HeWhoCannot amed was going to upend things on your behalf or in order to serve your interests, guess what: you got suckered.

HeWhoCannot amed’s Economic Prescription. First: Do Harm.www.nytimes.com/2016/11/11/opinion/HeWhoCannot ameds-economic-prescription-first-do-harm.html?_r=0 .... This much is certain: Mr. HeWhoCannot amed’s proposals would confer vast monetary gains on wealthy Americans while leaving middle- and working-class Americans — his electoral base — further behind. For his supporters, the irony of a HeWhoCannot amed victory is that they may end up even less well off.

Q3 you are splitting hairs on each of your corrections. A bankruptcy is a bankruptcy, corporate or personal, as he is receiving the tax write-offs and rebates as a benefit. I said considering career politicians. We have not seen him do any of the right things yet, and I personally do not believe he will. But hey it's your forum. Correct all you want.
I will look back and consider your words of encouragement for us all, when reality truly sets in. Let's see an analysis then, and how right you were.
HeWhoCannot amed is morally bankrupt. As Mayumi and Nica said.

Maybe Adam is like my gay cousin who just got married this year who lives in a red state that not only does not have anti-discrimination laws on the books. ie he can be fired, he can be kicked out of stores, he can be refused food all because he is gay in American. And not only that, this state doesn't believe that physical attacks on gays are a hate crime. So there's no difference between randomly getting pissed off at somebody for something they said at a bar, than cruising the streets looking for someone who is maybe holding hands with the same sex and deciding to teach them a lesson. And even if as some people say that HeWhoCannot amed isn't anti-gay himself, that doesn't hold for many he's put in his circle including the guy that's a heartbeat from the presidency. As to government jobs being turned into private - yep our privately held state prison was dubbed "gladiator school" www.nydailynews.com/news/national/fbi-takes-investigation-idaho-gladiator-school-article-1.1714357 and we didn't get rid of them until we finally had enough evidence of them cheating taxpayers by fudging time slips to make it look like they had the required number of guards etc. Even then the governor let them off without having to pay back the money they stole. Maybe you consider moving to a different state, there are many that are less corrupt and more tolerant. Unsurprisingly this is what facebook is full of too. All "if you don't like it get out". My family roots go back to when this state was first settled and I don't believe in turning it over to the radicals. Save
