I noticed on the soap opera "Days of Our Lives" they introduced their first gay character today. This soap has been on TV for like 40 years and I've never seen them do that before. Baby steps people...  |

Yep! I have to 'borrow' a few graphics, too, in order to wish Gelly a very happy birthday!! You have brought a smile to my heart and a joyful grin to my face many times, with your photographic memory! It's still your birthday here, on the California coast! One day I hope to share a visit to Greece, and have you and other Adamtopians there as we watch Adam perform in - in - in - oh heck! I've forgotten the name of the ancient venue near your home! I have not read the whole thread, but powerful anthems of change are not always explicit.

There is nothing in this song that explicitly connects it to the civil rights movement of the 1960's and Martin Luther King -- it just old gospel song. Just the tune an old negro spiritual and some very simple lyrics.
Until you put it into context and put it in the hands of a great vocalist.
Songs of freedom and liberation -- must lift your spirits, most give you hope in the future.
Now I am not saying Firework is on the same level as "We Shall Overcome" BUT just commenting on the concept that the meaning of a song MUST be explicit in the lyrics. A recording captures lyrics + melody + the emotion conveyed by the performers to the audience.

Can I say that I am having more fun voting in the VH1 Do Something awards than any voting op before this. I get to vote for Adam (over and over) and intersperse it with all kinds of feel good votes for people and places making a difference.
Yeah! Imma check out the Style category and see if anyone can hold a candle (no matter how diminished) to Adam.

 got a Charity:Water thank you letter dated March 7th in the mail today from 19 Entertainment. It also contained a picture of some dude autographed in silver. Awww, congrats, valilac, so happy for you!! :D |
