I don't see how political views has anything to do with judging asinging show. Other shows have celeb judges. What's the difference. I think Adam and Katy would be great together. But what do inflow.

Nobody can host that show like Ryan did, he was the glue of the show! Yep, totally. Without Ryan they will need a total reinvention. Not sure at all how Katy is going to fare either. Looking at the political climate, there is a lot of pushback against stars who have been Hillary supporters or vocal against HeWhoCannot amed or simply because they are entertainers and therefore perceived to be liberals. I think everyone is in for a bumpy ride for a while and jmo, I think Adam may be better off out of the mix for now. I agree about Ryan -- but the show needs total reinvention and a younger host would be better. I had the same thought about Katy and political splash back, but there is no sign that Katy's political activities have affected her ticket sales or radio adds -- even in the very red part of the US. Perhaps anyone who would be offended enough by Katy to avoid AI, already avoids Disney (owner of ABC). Since ABC only needs about 10 million viewers to make it work, and Idol's target fans -- women under 49 and gay men (same as pop music) -- are more likely to be liberal, it should work out fine. I think Katy will be a good to great judge. But I am also a fan. Here's a couple samples.... 2010 Idol Season 9 guest judge - highlights

I still hear & see his old friends calling him Madam on IGs and snaps. I take it as a term of endearment! ❤️ That makes it so funny to see it also used by haters and trolls -- particularly back in 2009-2010 post AMAs -- who actually thought they invented it.

Nobody can host that show like Ryan did, he was the glue of the show! I think Ryan's presence would make the reboot legitimate somehow, and he IS a really good host. I can imagine that it would be hard for anybody to step in his shoes. Not sure if I could handle another scenario like that for Adam ... Freddie's shoes have been big enough already, and that department is Adam's specialty.

Love the headline MADAM LAMBERT! So much love and really 'getting' Adam shines through in this headline. Yes, this expression has been used both by friends and non-fans alike, but obviously, coming from Brian, it is meant endearing and caring and disarms anybody else.
I sometimes wonder whether Adam did not teach Brian and Roger a thing or two about gay pride as well, in ways that Freddie while having it inside of him, could not talk about it at the time. He visually displayed it, and certainly in inner circles he lived it out to the fullest, but the times were just not yet right to shout it out to the world or discuss it. So he packed it into the music and thereby gave it the staying power for a next generation to interpret it their way. And Adam sure does just that.
Want to address idol one more time. I am surprised that so many here think that Adam would be ideal as host, because I don't think that at all. First, Adam and time management? No comment. Adam is also a bit chaotic in an artsy way, but still. Not good to calm folks down before their moment on stage. Adam creates buzz, he does not seem zen enough for the role, imo.
Secondly, the host of such a show is supposed to move things along without bringing too much of himself into it. Ryan is good at it, because he is Mr. Teflon. We know very little about him as a person, even though he is in the public eye since 15+ years. That is because he does his job well.
Adam is opinionated, divisive and a bit of a wild cannon. That can work at the judges table, but not as host, imo.
Finally, I have no idea why being host would be beneficial to Adam's public image or his music career. A one time hosting gig like Diva's is one thing, that does not distract, an ongoing role like that needs to make sense, and it doesn't, imo. It looks like saying his active music career is over, and why in the world would Adam want to send such a message. So, I don' think that he would be good for it, and thankfully I believe that it will be irrelevant question anyhow.
I think Ryan will get it, and my best guess is that Richard Rushfield's number was purposely planted out there, with the idea that everyone knows that Ryan used to get 15 mil, and now there is an article suggesting that he might only get 5 mil, then if they settle somewhere in the 10-12 mil range, then it looks good overall compared to the speculation, rather that just bad in comparison to the original idol amount. I suspect that they will reduce his role in the audition process, where it was never needed, and the Hollywood Week are bound to become Disney Week anyway, and so the actual weeks where Ryan is needed in LA would be the ones of the live shows.
So, you take Live with Kelly and Ryan on a road trip to LA for a few weeks during that time, and one week you bring the remaining idols to NYC, and in the week of the finale, Ryan takes a week off on the Kelly and Ryan show, and voila, the whole problem is reduced to a handful of trips, with a first class red-eye ticket a lot easier than many other folk's lives.
Looks like Adam will have a mentor role or sumilar, i.e. for a Queen week mentor role, and I think that would be just fine.
I wish ABC good luck, I am not yet convinced they have a winning formula for a successful show, but we shall see what happens.

If not Ryan, who? Mario Lopez? Someone else from E TV? IMO, Adam hosting, no. He has opinions, he's a vocally trained professional, and he has experience -- judging would fit his experience the best. Someone mentioned a mentor ship role -- that would be good too -- not as much of a time commitment either. In any case, Adam has been very thankful to Idol -- I'm sure we'll see him in some role during the season.
