I reread what I wrote yesterday, because I still am in the trance. Coming back to earth, slowly.
Went back to work this morning, and my hoarse voice made my co-managers wonder if I'd fallen ill during my birthday weekend 'away'. They didn't know where I had gone.
I laughed and told them I was hoarse from my ecstatic participation in a concert in Montreal. Montreal? They thought I had spent my weekend much closer to home - maybe Tahoe; maybe Carmel. Of course, they wanted to know. Why Montreal? I felt the joy flush my face. I couldn't escape the truth of me any longer. I told them about Adam ("Isn't he the guy from American Idol??") and how he owned me, captured me with his incredible talent and presence; how the words to "Outlaws of Love" will be known, one day, by the world; how the sky opened and the rain awakened 9000 people there . . . and they were amazed, delighted, taken aback . . . and our conference room became this electric place, where all at once people were talking about how they once escaped, too - for an anniversary, for a concert, for that special memory.
Several hours later, I was called into the office. I've been given a promotion. I mean, given the promotion I never dreamed I'd even interview for. ????!!!!!!!
I'll begin August 22. I'll only have a week of orientation before I'm off to Burning Man. But I know this role; I feel it; and I'm so ready.

Hey Q3, what leeds you to believe they are mastering Adam's CD. I usually 99% of the time agree with you, but have to disagree on this one. Adam clearly said he was recording today, and that is certainly very different than the mastering process. Mastering is the last step in the technical chain, before the album is ready to be sent to CD manufacturer for pressing, and before releasing to a digital format like iTunes. I would put everything I have on the fact that Adam will not be present when the album is mastered. He will most likely review the final master, and give any suggestions, but artists usually aren't present during mastering. No disrespect intended, just curious of your reasoning?  |
