Here's my theory for the secrecy:
Adam has a bit of hype in the press right now without leaking a single. The VH-1 special is brilliant and they are re-airing it plus on their website is all those fabulous extra interviews. Also, the Do-Something awards are coming up and he has a spot in Project Runway. So right around then, the new single drops, preparing everyone for his new fabulous album.
Cleverly, Adam dropped a new song in Canada, which certainly created excitement and buzz, not because it showcased his jaw-dropping sexiness or his powerhouse vocals, but rather he delivered a powerful message using the simplest guitar and his pure, exquisite voice. This was a sweet surprise and got people talking.
When the album finally does drop, everyone is going to be so very excited to hear it!! It'll be like everybody's birthday on one great fabulous day. A present for all of us to open at once. And who doesn't like presents?
Adam is brilliant. Everything he has done has been timed in a way that made sense. Even the AMA debacle had brilliance in it. It certainly weeded out the weenies and the fraidy cats and pushed a huge LBGT issue to the front of the table for at least a little while.
So I trust him and continue to be along for the ride.

Hoopla, I loved your recap!!! I just read Q3's comments on page 1 about the secrecy around Adam#2. I admit, the lack of news has me nervous about the release dates. I hope that it does come out in Nov. I can get a knot in my stomach worrying what will happen if the album isn't as good as we hope. Is the lack of news a sign that it's not good news? I want to trust Adam and his instincts but I am a bit nervous. Sorry for being a downer. I guess today I need to be talked off the ledge. Is there secrecy about Adam's album? I guess I haven't really felt it because I'm not accustomed to knowing many details about a musician's album three months before the release. I do feel very certain of a November release. I'm not worried because I think Adam knows from a business standpoint how important it is to put out his album this fall, and from an artistic standpoint he knows that this CD is his golden opportunity to break through. I don't think they would have lined up all of the promo that we already know about if they didn't intend to make certain the album comes out this year--it would be a waste. I remember during Adam's interview before his lastest concert in Canada he was asked if he would be testing some new material in the show and he responded, "I don't know." And the interviewer told him that he should know because they were only half an hour away from the start of set! And Adam said, "I know, but you don't know. It's a surprise." That seems to be the way he wants to handle the rollout of this new CD, too. I'm also not concerned that his label is dissatisfied with the product or would be causing any delay by sending him back to the drawing board. Since we know that so many other people have heard the music, there's no reason to believe that TPTB at RCA haven't heard it as well or that Adam hasn't involved them in the process. If they didn't approve of it, I think he would have been told by now, with only eight weeks, at most, before the CD has to be pressed and ready to go. Adam seems too pleased for there to be any problems on that score. I don't know the tech terms for it but I figure some tracks are being finalized and he's probably still working on others or even continuing to write new material, even though he has a pretty definite idea which 10-12 (or however many) songs will make the album. That last thought doesn't make me anxious. The track listing doesn't have to be set in stone until October, so why not continue to be creative? If his CD release is being handled with unusual secrecy maybe details are being kept under wraps because something huge is coming up promo-wise that they don't want to spoil? Or maybe there's a surprise collaborator? Or maybe because we live in a culture of instant gratification and short attention spans? Better to save the info for one focused, concentrated PR push than to let the deets trickle out, even unofficially? Also, sometimes too much anticipation and buildup can make the main event feel like a letdown. I'm mostly content in my clueless state because it's enough for me at this point to feel sure that a CD will arrive in November. Tidbits of info do give fans something to discuss on message boards and Twitter, and it's important to keep fans engaged and build an air of excitement surrounding the project, so in that respect it'd be nice to see some details--names, dates, titles, info about promo appearances--start to emerge. But what I want most is to hear some music! Maybe by October Adam will start to tweet out 90-second clips of him working in the studio this summer or doing an acoustic renditon of one of the songs on the CD (okay, I'm dreaming!) or something along those lines to whet the appetite. SebastianJones: back to work on AdamLambert ....hook is MASSIVE!! OMGaaawd, I want to hear this album now!! And Adam looked amazing today! Beautiful job, Sasha!

If RCA hasn't already approved the final tracks, I will eat my hat. I think they were approved in early July at NY visit before last. I don't think the final tracks are finalized but I do think that Adam has picked 5 or so "must be on the album" songs that are his personal faves and he doesn't care if they are singles or not, they set the tone of the album. OOL was one of them. They've listened to what he has in the can so far but still waiting for the final moment like they did with Fever for possibilities. They've got penned down potential singles, I'd say 5. They've got a drop dead date for all songs in the can and then they'll lay the 5 singles on the table, Adam will have his 5 on the table, and then they'll pick 5 more from everything else to round it out with the theme and Adam will help organize them from track to track. And then they'll pick a name. He's said he likes names that are song titles or lyrics so he'll wait to see for sure what's on it. That's what I think anyway, lol. Still catching up with the thread. I am almost certain all of the tracks have been selected. For the past 3 weeks all of the recording session have been with previous collaborators. Seems like the tracks were all selected in July based on the tweets. For example, Adam worked with Benny Blanco in Miami. Then he worked with Benny and several other collaborators in New York. The Miami sessions would have been to create the demo(s). Then all the demos that Adam wants RCA to consider would have been reviewed by his A&R Team and execs. Then RCA would pick the tracks -- Adam might get to pick a few but usually the label selects most if not all the tracks in discussion with the artist. Then the do the final recordings and post production. My money is that entire album was selected before 7/29/11 Montreal concert. And I believe the last new co-write tweets were before mid-July.

Q3, that all makes sense. And Montreal was just a great show. He almost always does something really special at the one-offs.

JarettSays Jarett Wieselman Adam Lambert -- one of my most fun interviews thus far. Whole interview posting in Sept but check back tmrw for a music centric sneak peek! I am going to make a prediction of a date for Adam's single. Based on what RCA has done with Cook and Kelly's and using Nov 8th as the album release date.... I predict the single will be released Sept. 20th! (I don't know why people were expecting August, for a November album.) Retailers were told late Summer -- last week of August or early September. Adam also said late Summer for the single. I would not make any assumptions based on Cook's timing -- since I have no doubt that the A&R and Promo execs at RCA knew that album and single was DOA before it was released. Also seems like retailers were not surprised by the album's low sales because stock levels were low at the US chains and no international releases. Similarly, I think Kelly has nothing to do with Adam at all. I expect her single will be pushed to HAC and HAC leaning CHR stations. IF (and a big IF) Adam's lead single is the Benny Blanco track -- and that is my bet -- then I expect RCA to push it to CHR/Top 40. My bet is Adam's single or album release is timed to some big event -- a TV performance of the single -- not to any ex-Idol's dates. My money in on first week of September for single.

They've been advertising the start of the new Ellen season here, starting September 12. Would that be big enough for the debut of the new single, then coming out the next day on the Tuesday?

I do not think Ellen is a big enough showcase. Perhaps, X Factor? Linked to Sony? And I am just guessing 'cause no one is talking about anything related to Adam's album promo.
