SCROLL ALERT ;D ... according to yesterday's posts they've fantasized Leila being raped by Kris' father, Adam being raped in many of the "fantasies"... I am thinking this is just a tiny tip... All I am saying is that I really, really do not want to have that stuff brought here. It was Tommy's father, he was a king, she was a queen whose husband had just died and he was attempting to take over their land.... That incident, which is only briefly discussed in the story, was the catalyst for all of Adam's actions leading up to him meeting Prince TommyJoe (his fathers favorite son). I didn't bring up that particular plot device to squeak anyone out. Laws of Illyria just happens to be in one of the best stories I've ever read in the fandom and honestly outside the fandom as well and I was using it as an example of good story telling. Without reading the story you would not understand why it was a very tiny but important plot point. I just don't see it as a tiny plot point if rape is involved. If the story was so well written, why would it need to use Adam & Tommy's name to get attention? Would anyone here want their daughter's or son's name used in a story like this and spread over the internet? I just don't get it. |

I'm definitely not interested in censoring the discussion, because I think 99.99999% of it has been done in the spirit of the forum: polite, respectful of others' opinions, and informative.
However, I'd suggest that going forward, we not describe the plotlines of specific fanfics, nor post recs on the news thread.

I was first introduced to fanfiction as part of a soap opera community. Pretty much every message board like this one had a seperate fanfiction area. (not recomended for anything above PG 13 as proboards has pretty strict rules) I wrote a few short ones myself which I'd share but if you didn't know the characters it wouldn't make any sense. Moch of what was written was more about what you would do if you were the writer. A very big angsty point in Soap Opera fandom is complaining about the writers.

No one here is talking about that stuff. No one. fanfic discussion went there yesterday and made several people extremely uncomfortable. THAT is exactly what brought up the request for a separate thread. It is quite possible that we read the same posts and interpreted them differently, but it did happen. The assertion made this morning that it is OK to talk about fanfic on this thread because it is Adam related was most probably made out of lack of realization how far the discussion had digressed yesterday. I am sure we are all on the same "side" of the issue... I'm sure we are. But next time please don't jump down my throat for something that fricking happened yesterday. Wonderstruck, you really don't have to apologize. I understood where you were coming from. I agree we should move on. |
