Okay, so who can host the So. Cal listening party? I'm in! We can probably find a better place than my house... My TV is 55 " but my house is small. My house is very small and your TV has mine beat. I would love to get to didilynn's', but I'm leaving for Mexico on Wednesday, so it would be really hard to travel the weekend before. We could use my house if we can't find a better one. Mexico? What part? Kind of dangerous right now... |

Gelly, although someone else already answered that the poster meant the foam from waves, there is a candy known as seafoam. Wonderfully decadent. Similar recipes are also known as divinity. Really?? You're joking right??And how does it taste? Yikes!! Gelly, where I grew up in western NY it's called sponge candy, covered with either dark or milk chocolate. Great stuff! The issue is NOT fanfic in general, the issue is crossing the decency line into writing about sexual violence against Adam, his mother etc... REAL PEOPLE that we profess to respect. Let's not misinterpret the reason for discomfort the discussion brought upon some of us. We are not talking about Kirk/Spock here.. we are not talking about Harry Potter characters... so, comparison is not valid... Please tell me how I can make myself clearer. Yes, most of the stuff we talk about falls into the area of "fantasy", we speculate a lot, we "ninja" stuff out and try to connect to dots. But to say that writing about raping Adam because he is sexual is the same as to say that every raped woman brought it upon herself... writing about raping his mother is on a totally different level...I don't even know what level it is.... some kind of sub-basement of the n-th degree...makes me nauseous.... I do hope that we will not see references to that stuff in this thread and a separate thread will be created. No one here is talking about that stuff. No one. fanfic discussion went there yesterday and made several people extremely uncomfortable. THAT is exactly what brought up the request for a separate thread. It is quite possible that we read the same posts and interpreted them differently, but it did happen. The assertion made this morning that it is OK to talk about fanfic on this thread because it is Adam related was most probably made out of lack of realization how far the discussion had digressed yesterday. I am sure we are all on the same "side" of the issue... |
