citygirl36 Nadine Durbs auditioned season 8 as well? Lol :RT @baking4fun Lane t.co/tPX5CtD5 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply Oooh (not a good ooooh) With a dream to make it big, James previously auditioned for American Idol in Season 8, but was not advanced. Returning for the season 10 auditions, Durbin advanced through Hollywood week and into the top 4. Tagged with the line, 'Give Metal a Chance', Durbin shined with his performances of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" as well as "Heavy Metal" and later on the finale alongside British heavy metal band Judas Priest. Continuing to be an inspiration to his fans, his fianc Heidi and son Hunter keep him inspired and he keeps them close to his heart while out traveling with the American Idols Live Tour. Currently exploring options for a record label with WIND UP Records, this is indeed not the last we will see of Durbin...especially if his fans have anything to do with it. Yep. It's been speculated that the "other guy in the hollywood week" that had similar style to Adam (per the Michael Slezak interview, if I remember right) was James. Adam has told that he decided to make "weird" song choices (like Cher) to stand out because he wasn't the only one with the similar style in Hollywood culling round. Thank goodnes they picked up a singing talent instead of a good sob story, otherwise Season 8 would have been a whole lot different.. Still, this is pure speculation since we don't know how far James advanced then, if he got to Hollywood or was dropped in the first audition.

If Simon's stil with Idol for AI10, I doubt he would let Durbin advanced as well. Simon would say all kind of mean things about him couldn't hold a note .. and way of his mimic and not original. Randy was only saying what's the producer wanted him to say I do not believe James made it to the judges round of AI8 -- so the producers did not pick him. James would have been only 19 years old when he auditioned for AI8. I imagine he got a lot better in the intervening two years. That said, I wonder what Simon would have done with James -- Simon is not really mean to people who have disabilities so he might have been supportive before he voted NO. I have nothing against James but do not see a big recording future for him. And clearly UMG does not see much commercial potential either because they are passing on him.

Seems like a good idea to remind people of RTM -- but it is probably too late not to be classified as a new rater ASSUMING the new single is released by 9.30.11. I really can't imagine any scenario where Adam's single is released after 9.30.11. Avid fans can help push a song but there are a lot of raters on RTM and non-fans need to like the song too. So, my advice is sign up for RTM -- and listen to the station you rate. I listen to a CHR station and rate that station. I do not listen to an HAC or AC station (music-free life would be preferable) but if "my" station doesn't play Adam's new song -- I will not depend on RTM -- I will be on that telephone -- talking to "my" PD and asking him if he has lost his F'ing mind. Of course, in a polite, intelligent, and logical manner. I've been doing RTM for months. Every now and then you get to provide in depth feedback after listening to possible singles for an artist (I enjoyed doing that for Christina Perri, who I like a lot) and I cross my fingers that I can one day be in the pool to do that for Adam. Question - even though you indicate the stations you listen to for RTM I didn't realize that the songs you are rating are particular to that stations playlist. Is that the case?

Simon would have raked his A** over the coals.. All that aside.. I also don;t think that Simon had a whole lot of imagination when it came to the auditioning of new contestants..like Adam said.. Simon liked what he like..period. I was re-watching the AI vids of Adam..and it was interesting how well Adam understood Simon and was not intimidated by him.. It was also interesting to see how often it was Adam they called on to explain something on elimantion night.. and also when introducing the "star" talent on finale night.. It made me feel good.. that the show "got" Adam too..

Isn't Iane Pirie used to be the President of 19E? And also Adam's manager? I guess he's handling the artists from 19M, Pia, Haley & Durbin. I agree with you .... poor Lane . Unless Adam has enough money to hire her as his PA Yes, Iain Pirie managed Adam (at least in name) and he is still with 19 Entertainment. The deal with 19 and Red Light is for Co-Management and 19 is still the public face/artist management contact for the 3 AI10 finalists they signed. I do not think Lane wants to be a PA -- that would be a big step down. If Adam hires a PA, he needs someone not from 19 IMHO. And hopefully Lane can move on and up. All I know if the I am so happy Adam is no longer managed by 19, and did not go to XIX (Fuller's company) which is where Roger is -- which is turning out to be mini-19M with a small artist roster. Adam needs to be with a management company that can do real global management. With 19 Adam had to rely too much on Sony/RCA. Direct has expertise in this area because of Katie Perry and they know how to put together a tour deal. I am not ANTI-19 and think that they did a great job for Carrie, Cook and Daughtry. IMO Kelly would have been better off staying with 19M. The only surprise to me is that Daughtry left 19. I think the only reason that Daughtry left 19 was because his manager, Sterling (I think), left 19 also and has his own management company. I wondered if Sterling will take Kris with him, since someone on MJ said he's also Kris Allen's manager. You're right that it's good Adam was not with 19M anymore. Like Cindy said it's conflict of interest with 19E/R. Adam's international fame I think heavily supported by his international fans and SONY/RCA. I posted this thought a week ago or when we heard about Adam's new management co. I wonder how many management companies he interviewed before he decided on this one

James auditioned for Idol in 2008 -- he did not get selected. He was not part of Hollywood Week. Hollywood Week is broadcast and we saw everyone. In Hollywood Week -- 147 contestants competed. 2/3/2009 -- Adam advanced to the Group Round, performance was not shown. 40 contestants were eliminated. 2/4/2009 -- Adam was part of the Group Round -- 107 contestants competed in the group rounds. 75 survive. Jeremy Michael Sarver, Adam Lambert, Matt Breitzke, Jesse Langseth, “Some Kind of Wonderful” 2/10/2009 Adam performed Cher's "Believe" Here is a list of Adam's performances before he made the finals: Audition – “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen <<<a head to head performance we never saw and was not broadcast>>> Hollywood Group – “Some Kind of Wonderful” Hollywood – “Believe” by Cher Chair Episode Semis Week 2 – “Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones Semis Week 2 Results- “Closer” by Ne-Yo – Group Number Semis Week 2 Results – Adam Advances to the Top 13 James Durbin told the San Jose Mercury News he auditioned for AI8 but he never said he went to Hollywood week. IF Idol had video of Durbin vs. Lambert from 2009, we would have seen that at some point. Would have been great for ratings. Also, if Adam had met James in 2009, I think one of them would have said it -- probably James.

Since I'm now listening to the Adam scorning KIIS-LA (lol at the LA traffic updates as I'm driving thru the corn fields of N CA) I really want to hear him on that station!

I was digging around to see if there was any info on Adam's "missing" idol performance -- the head to head and came across this very interesting comment from 2009...... "Hmmmmm, I’m beginning to wonder if the reason Nate and Norman/Nick got through was to make Adam seem more tame and perhaps middle of the road…just a thought. " I really think that there is some merit to that comment. Norman/Nick was so OTT gay that Adam looked like he was Iowa gay. Just a thought since we know that Adam was a producers pick from the start of Idol. [And why wouldn't he be a producer's pick!!]
