Trying to be more present in RL and just lurk here, but feel compelled to comment on a few things. Will attempt to do so without a lot of oversharing and unfiltered nonsense. We'll see! No promises, haha. Ok, I can tell I'll probably ramble. Scroll is an option. I really felt quite overwhelmed with yesterday's EQCA event. So great to see Adam being honored and acknowledged in this way. The industry love, the message from 19E, the standing ovation -- just GAH. So, so happy about it. Of course the haters and naysayers won't bother to acknowledge it or admit they were wrong, but I've learned they're not important. I typically don't hold grudges, but I make an exception for Aaron Hicklin. Don't know if I will ever forgive him. I don't usually feel overly protective or defensive on Adam's behalf -- he doesn't need that IMO. But that incident with Hicklin really infuriated me and still does. Gene Simmons? A douchy remark, who cares. But Hicklin's letter in the same issue of OUT with Adam's generous, open interview (and just prior to Adam's critical AMA performance) just completely disgusted me. It gave me so much pleasure to watch Adam being honored last night as a role model and a 'catalyst for change'. The picture at the podium is my favorite. He looks amaaaazing. I also have to say that he is absolutely glowing, and while part of that may be happiness with the way his career is going (it's pretty exciting that he's so confident about the album), it seems undeniable that a large part of that glow must be Sauli. It took me a while to warm up to him, but from the time of Adam's crystal ball tweet ("I'm not scared at all of the cracks in the crystal ball"), it seemed clear that this was a really serious relationship. It's actually hard to imagine a better match for Adam in a lot of ways, given what we know. It's amazing that they found each other. Fianlly, add me to the list of those who hope that Adam can keep his relationship with Sauli private as he wants to. What we got to see with audience interaction, Tommy and even Drake was usually for show whereas with Sauli its real. Better not mix the two too much. Stuff like that can mess with your brain eventually and also if he gives a little, the fans will always want more. I hope he never feels pressured. I do think he has his head on straight and knows when to push back or to ignore us. I am actually glad that he tries to carve out a private terrain for himself more and more. While I do miss the quirky and innocent and unscripted openness from a few years ago, I also know that this was not sustainable. And I do want the long term relationship between him and us, so S&A PDA censorship I just accept. Of course I would find it sexy as hell to see it, no question...but not at a price to the relationship he has, not worth it. I agree with the above comment, although I'm not sure I would find S&A PDA sexy as hell. Well, maybe. I don't know. It would feel so intrusive. Back during the days when I obsessively studied every facial expression and physical nuance between Adam and Tommy, wondering if there was anything going on between them, any picture of them offstage together made me nervous, for the same reason -- it felt intrusive. (Yeah, even with all the very public stuff onstage.) It just seems wrong for the fans to be privy to Adam's relationship (with Sauli, or anyone else) in that way. Although I admit that was part of the titillation of Adam and Tommy onstage - the demented fantasy that he was letting us peek into his bedroom. For Irish, and anyone who's looking for a PDA substitute, here's something I noticed. Maybe I'm imagining things -- obviously would not be the first time. Anyway, I've been slowly going through the Ste. Agathe vids, and I recently watched the TALC vid of Aftermath. When Adam sings "you are not alone", he seemed to take his attention away from the audience for a few moments -- it almost felt like he wasn't really there for a short while - and I had to rewatch to see why that was. It looked to me like he was looking in the direction of the sound booth and Sauli, and then he got a little smile on his face ('you are not alone'), and then, in the next instant, he turned away (in Monte's direction) and appeared to be overcome with emotion, even though of course he continued singing. And I just thought, wow. This relationship is really, really important to him. It was very moving to see that. So, I'm sloooowly getting over my attachment to the Adam/Tommy fantasy. I find it really interesting to wonder about the reasons why we each (or most of us) have our irrational feelings and reactions to different things about Adam that compel us. I think Adam can handle it, but it must be so weird to him to have so many people BSC over him. He probably had no idea what he was starting when he kissed Tommy at the AMAs, but it certainly drove a bunch of people crazy, in a bunch of different ways. For myself, I'm continuing to willfully believe in the small possibility (growing smaller, I must admit) that there was a little sumthin sumthin between Adam and Tommy at one point, maybe around Gridlock time. As I saw in a macro somewhere, Tommy is straight, but he's not dead! How could anyone resist Adam?! So for now I'm still gonna think that - maybe - Adam was Tommy's only exception, as Adam himself once stated (but of course we don't really know how he meant it). *Sigh* <--- resigned. I don't know why I care, seriously. I think maybe it's because they WERE hot together, as many here will agree, and I like to think there was some genuine affection and attraction behind it, which of course there was, to one degree or another. And that's about all we can know. Frankly, I think the less PDA Adam engages in, the better for my sanity. But I'm definitely going to miss the fanservice. I felt so sad when Adam sang "kiss the sky" instead of "kiss this guy" in Quebec! But Adam was attentive to Tommy in other ways, and I loved that Tommy patted Adam's shoulder before "20th century Boy". I still think they work really well onstage together. I'm always slow to let go -- I still miss Lisa and Longineau from the original band! While Cam and Isaac are probably a better fit with the Glamily personality-wise, Lisa and Longineau both had a more interesting style and look. Notice I'm not commenting on the music -- they all sound good to me and mostly I'm just listening to Adam! Ok, off to look for Adam/Tommy fanvids, gifs, and fanfic! ;D Not really. I think maybe it's losing its zing (thanks, Sauli!)...um, having spent literally hours mesmerized by kissing gifs, that's probably a good thing. I didn't know about any of this fan stuff before Adam! Moving on...to the next era. Hmm, I'm probably posting in a dead thread again. Probably for the best.

One more thing...I don't know if this is appropriate, so mods pls. delete if need be.
I was lurking at MJ's today, which I do less and less because I'm not into AI and there seemed to be less and less about Adam there. But I was pleased to see the EQCA thread, and was reading some of the comments. There's a wonderful, eloquent comment in that thread, at 11:18 am on 8/14. I won't mention the poster's name. But she said everything I would have liked to say, if I were as articulate, about Adam receiving this award. Worth reading. She talks about the need for Adam to take the time to figure out how to handle sudden overwhelming fame as an openly gay performer in a sometimes unsupportive industry, and the fact that some did not want to let him take that time (*Aaron Hicklin*). And she talks about the fact that he DID allow himself time to come into his own. He really does embody grace under pressure. #inawe

And one more, while I'm spamming...and then it will be back to lurkdom for me.
Momtomany, I just want to say that I really enjoy reading your poetic observations, and I look forward to hearing about this year's Burning Man experience. I've always felt that I don't really have what it takes to put myself into that world, but with further inspiration, who knows. A former coworker went to Burning Man a few years back, and I remember hearing about it with amazement -- I suddenly wonder if she was there the same year as Adam! So strange to think about that!
