Yeah, but I don't want him too saturated that people get tired of him. But then again if he was to get to the Gaga level of saturation I think Adam has the good sense to take a break and let people miss him, and come back, and not so much of what Gaga and co. are doing. where people are sick to death of seeing or hearing him. LMAO! Adam has years of total saturation to go before he comes even close to Gaga levels of saturation. But... But... But... RCA Ed said before that Adam was overexposed. : ;D

I think the bastard album has sold 100K. So if you add up FYE physical copies long with digital copies Adam has sold platinum in the US.
824K(physical)+80K(digital)+100K(bastard)=platinum & 4

It is interesting that Gaga is between a rock and a hard place. I doubt she could win whatever she did.
Re the 'just be Stephani Giamotti [something like that...fail :-[] ...I think she did that for several years...just like Adam did...and that was not successful.
With the exception of Adele ... and everyone hastened to call her an 'anomaly' just the other day....all the femal diva's sell their sexuality... nakedness...near soft porn....and they are criticized relentlessly for that. It seems to me that females in pop almost have to sell their beauty and sexuality to be popular so if the do not want to do that, they need to come up with another 'schtick'...which is what Gaga did. And with astounding success.
It is that, or go country [which it seems Adele is considering] or go into musical theatre...those genre's appreciate a good voice. Pop does not particularly....
If I really wanted to be a big success, I think I would prefer Gaga's route to the other naked diva's. It is true that she seems to have pushed herself into a corner though and she has to keep on upping the ante. Perhaps that is what last night was all about....changing the game altogether.
BTW, it was interesting that being pregger's gave Beyonce the license to stay dressed last night as she is usually semi-naked.
Adam sure did take the tough route didn't he! Thank goodness he has the talent and drive to do it....And, it seemed almost like a conspiracy to eviscerate any sense of accomplishment or achievement for Brittany on that award....could they have treated it more cavalierly!? Poor thing had no idea what to even do...and that was not her fault...her moment was completely hijacked by Gaga and then Beyonce. Something was really wrong there, IMO.

ETA: On Gaga, I think where she made her mistake if you want to call it that is that she stuck to the OTT shock value route too tightly for too long so now she is kind of stuck there. She didn't balance it out along the way with her natural self the way Adam has. She's talented, she's fascinating but I don't feel I know anything about her as a person and the interviews that I have seen I've gotten the impression that she doesn't want anyone to know her. I used to enjoy her when I saw her but never felt drawn in because she puts up a wall between her real self and her audience and I just don't get a sense of connection with her music either. It's good and entertaining but I don't feel like she's baring her soul in her music so I'm not really getting to know her that way either. Lately I don't even really pay much attention at all because there seems to be no joy or even a sense of satisfaction in her. For all her success she seems quite miserable and overrought whenever I've seen her.

I thought the 824K was physical only? NVM then.
ETA: Rihannsu I checked and I'm pretty sure 824K is for physical sales.

But it is a lovely thought! But FYE will be platinum someday and WWFM will be 2xP in the US.

I cannot speak for all labels because I only closely follow 2 labels -- one of which is Sony ME. If you read the financial filings from Sony, and review their analyst calls, they regularly state their mission is to maximize profits and revenue. So, if you could prove that a #1 chart position = more sales and profits, then I agree it matters. It matters for the purpose of being able to say "the number 1 album in the country" just like it matters to say Grammy nominated Album or song. It's a selling point. Perhaps not by much but it's still a selling point. Is traffic necessarily lower in October? Maybe but if people want to buy the album it doesn't matter what time of year it is released, as evidenced by the fact that Kelly Clarkson has released albums in March, April, June and December and they've all sold relatively the same amount, between 250K - 300K opening week. What do you base this on? The same shows Adam appeared on for opening week promo were running in October. In fact some could argue that he might have sold more had he not appeared on AMAs the same week of his release and gotten so much backlash for that performance. It's one of those "we'll never know" type of situations. As for the price, FYE was sold at a higher price for the deluxe edition (as are all albums that offer that option) but the regular version was in fact $9.99 opening week, as is standard for the debut week of any album. I don't know that WWFM would've had the same impact had it been released first but who knows. I'd have liked to see them actually try to work FYE, the single, to radio weeks prior to the AMAs which never happened. That song was dead before the performance ever happened and the switch to another single had been made. Some thought it was switched due to the backlash but that's not the case. WWFM was serviced to radio a week before the AMAs. Of course you're right. Pop does not have it's own category on the BB album charts so there is no such thing as a #1 pop album in the Billboard catalog. That would've been nice but there wasn't enough Rock on the album to qualify it for rock. Perhaps Pop/Electronic/Dance?

Sometimes I wonder how much FYE would have sold if the Bastard album didn't cut into sales.

Several years? She broke HUGE as Gaga when she was 23. How many years could it have been? Most people have just graduated college at that age. I know she went to NYU, Tisch School of the Arts, don't know if she graduated, but even so, she tried to break through for three or four years out of high school? *yawn* And she secured a writing contract ("Fever" was a demo for that) prior to her recording contract.
The girl's journey does NOT make my heart bleed.
Like I said, she's smart. She decided she needed a niche and she found one, but instead of using it as a tool, it's become her entire offering. That's where I think she makes her mistake.

I thought the 824K was physical only? NVM then. ETA: Rihannsu I checked and I'm pretty sure 824K is for physical sales. Where are you sourcing your numbers? I'm going by RCAEd's last post so I would think that is official. Just because it says CD doesn't mean physical only these are the total sales for FYE in the US. The digital total given in the summary post on that thread is not in addition to the 824,000 figure and is listed as 106,111 as of 8/17. (Not sure where that number is drawn from as Ed didn't give a separate digital figure that I saw) Mega Fan Joined: May 2009 Posts: 1168 Wednesday, August 17, 2011 - 11:29 RCA Ed: Re: Consolidated Sales information, Certifications and performance thread for Grammy Nominee Adam! BUMP! Smiling Hey guys. Erm, let me see what I can update you on today: GNL DVD has sold 40k units thus far (27% increase this week from Vh1 BTM, but we're still talking less than 500 units). FYE CD has sold 824k units (also a 27% increase TW related to BTM, but that's only about 650 units total - fffft!). AL! has 28k units (averaging 50 units a week).
