*waves hello at the uncloaked vivlite* Yay! Just a few comments... I've always loved Alison....I don't care if I can't understand a word she sings - she's got a fabulous stage presence. Point on enunciation isn't the be all and end all in music...for me. Readon....your last post was very moving. Terrance....man, he is one gorgeous hunk of male.

You know all those great discussions you have been having lately about avis, setting up thisses and thatsss and whodawhatsits?? Why get too involved with that when you are never going to post, right? And here I am...be patient, folks. If I don't respond to someone or screw posts up royally for a bit, just understand, mama is tryyyyyyinnnnngg.

"I'm doing the fucking best that I can." When I first read that quote I teared up. Adam at his most open and vulnerable. Adam acknowledging that it isn't all rainbows and puppy dogs. Adam acknowledging that it is a huge learning curve, despite his years of performing experience, when he becomes an overnight superstar. Adam asking, for I think about the only time I recall, for a little compassion, leeway and understanding. I still choke up when I read that. A quick snapshot of the weight he is dealing with.

I can't add much to today's posts because they have been awesome! To more or less pick Adam's brain by analyzing what he means by using certain words really clarifies where he is and where he is coming from. He truly is a game changer IMO. And then to reread the OUT interview (Thank you Hoopla for bringing that here today) makes me so proud of him!
He may have grown a lot since we first saw him, but he really had it pretty much together back then, too. To look back at his performances on AI and review interviews he's done just blows me away... What pressure! He deserves whatever good comes his way - love him!!!
And I love this place, too... Great to see so many de-lurking. This family is growing, too - just look at the numbers of people checking in every day whether they are registered or not! Also I think many don't want to ever lose this place and it's worthwhile to register an email - just in case!
Enough rambling... Love to all!

Wow! Great discussions today - really gets one to thinking. Readon, I'm not one to get teary but your post got to me. As someone said, I can see the screenplay of that scene you so poignantly painted. Wow. Welcome to all of today's the de-cloakers. We are so happy to have you join us. Love it! As to Terrance. I don't know, but my eyes get drawn to his movements a lot during GNT. Especially whenever he comes out of that crouch into his back stepping thingie during Fever. Guy is VERY graceful. Also loved it whenever Dante came out to play during his IIHY solo as well.

------------- (I can't seem to quote.) Cassie, does Allison hold her microphone too close and does this distort her sound? I loved her on Idol but the GNT shows I went to and in this clip, I can't understand her. Interesting observation! I hadn't noticed it so I went back and watched again, plus pulled up a couple of Idol numbers. She does hold the mic very close to her mouth, on the lower notes even touching her lips to it. Singers hold their mics close when they don't have the power or the resonance to project the sound, If the mic is not right in front of their mouth, it does not pick up the sound well. I've always thought of Allison as a power belter, but now I am wondering. When she sings in the low register or when she does not rasp/belt the note, she seems to have minimal resonance or ring that would carry the sound. If you dial up the mic to pick it up, then you run the risk of amplifying other background sounds as well. So, she just pulls the mic close to her mouth. It may be a habit that she has developed over the years, and the sound guys actually dial back on the mic to compensate so her voice does not get distorted singing powerfully so close to the mic. Maybe. But I suspect the habit was formed because she just doesn't have the tone that projects far, so she needs the mic in her face. The problem with that is then your consonants tend to pop or explode (P, B, T,) or hiss (S, F). That could have caused her to compensate by not pronouncing the consonants clearly. And it became a habit. Just theorizing. On one of Angelina's broadcasts with Juneau and Xena (I think the first one) she talked at length about Adam's diction. She says he uses a classical style where he "implodes" the consonants instead of exploding them. It's a tricky technique that let's you pronounce them clearly and cleanly, but without the pop/hiss or interruption to the vocal line. I would guess that Allison could benefit from some coaching on her diction along with her use of the mic. And, if she found a way to add more resonance/ringing to her tone, she could project her voice better, not needing the mic quite so close most of the time. Just my best guesses here. Thank you for the explanation, Cassie! I thought it looked strange because BB pulls the microphone back and forth a lot and, of course, has perfect diction. I hope that Allison can get the coaching she needs and makes a comeback. (On another note.....Just Karen.....what am I doing wrong with my AVI? I've tried all sorts of ranges and BB still looks short. Is it the picture? I want those long legs to show.)

Well, I was really hoping I could get back today to participate in the interesting and enlightening discussion {that started with Rabbit's link to the Qweerty comments, to the re-reading of the amazing Out interview, to MWP's exceptional post, to Murly's insightful cookie metaphor...and all posts in between} ...BUT, Imma have to go with LindaG23 and say these are some thoughts worth saving and savoring when I have more time. I will say, though, that I've never met a cookie I didn't like. Never. I am a cookie monster (and an AFL slut.) Adam is so special. I think he was just born THAT way. Q3 wrote a post recently about how lucky we are to have such a man to stan, and I agree wholeheartedly. I've been fascinated from the very beginning by how much of what he says is intentional and deliberate and how much is just off the cuff, straight from his beautiful and unfiltered mouth. What I've decided is that it doesn't matter. Either way, I can't think of a single word I've heard him utter that didn't resonate with me on some level. He just always speaks from his heart and his heart is good. Which is why ILHSFM. (Same goes for you guys by the way.) Now, because I'm too tired to chime in with any deeper analyzing, may I just thank Lynneville for the first gif of the morning (not to mention Gelly's "whip my hurr" gif) and pay homage to Chunkey's LMAO cartoon by saying: I'M CRUMBING!! I'M CRUMBING!! This gif is absolute proof of that interview answer where he said he's really good at two things: singing and kissing. (The singing part goes without saying!) And it's absolutely great to see so many new posters these days! Keep it up de-lurkers! The shallow end's such fun--and the deep end is so profoundly satisfying. ETA: Readon, your post--Waltonesque--was so, so moving. 'night, readongirl!

Oh, Aloha. I love the angle you got on that shot as it fully gives us Adam's expression during that interchange. Thanks! I wish I could take a good picture during his performances but my first attempt at Idol Live was so poor that I did not even try it at GNT.

Out of all 8 concerts. LOL
