I have a theory that there are straight fans who love Adam in part because they love someone who is gay (a child, sibling, friend, whatever) and that part of what they see in Adam is the possibility for that person they love to be happy, proud, successful, sexual, strong, in love, and loved - everything everyone wants for those they love. I would love to post some thoughts on that thread we'eve been reading, but don't want to contribute to "dominating gay space." I wonder why it doesn't occur to some, though, that the women posting there might have a stake, whether they are gay or not. IMO adults don't need "role models." Adults concerned about their world/interests need political leaders and activists - some entertainers are into trying to be that, some aren't, some are sometimes. I don't see that as their job. But tweens and teens do need role models. Whether it's Chris Colfer, Jake Spears, or Adam Lambert (different stars appeal to different kids, right, just like adults?), the more young gay men (and women) who are out there and happy, and achieving, and seen as relatively "cool" by some, etc. is good IMO. As much as I love Gaga, et al (and I do), a suicidal young kid being called names or worse can't look at her and say, "Well, as a young gay man, she's certainly managing to celebrate and enjoy her life." All very well said and reasonable (classic Bridget  ). I, too, found rabbitrabbit's link interesting, but managed to stop myself from posting all my many and myriad feelings on this interesting discussion in their poor comments thread! I'm actually totally fascinated by the language (not always movement approved) that Adam uses to describe his no doubt important role in gay visibility--I think it says a lot of interesting things about how he thinks of himself and his sexuality--but I'll refrain from comment-spew here, too--too deep end for this hour (might well flail about and sink!) Instead I'll answer Tantum's call for more sleeve chatter  . Count me in on team #sleevesarehot, as well as team #iwannatattoobuthavetogrowthegutstogetone. Also, I gotta admit I was somewhat won over by the image of Adam and Sauli lying on some spectacular deck in Bora Bora surrounded by glinting azure waters while Sauli draws lazy patterns on his arm as they plan his new tattoo. Anyone else...? Just me...?  Aaaaannyways....Is it just my imagination or did Adam once mention peacock feathers? Cause there are some gorgeous peacock tattoos out there and they go beautifully with the lovely blue-green jewel tones he's already got...   |

Thanks midwifespal! I hadn't drawn that visual of Bora Bora, laying on the dock & tracing out tattoo patterns...... But I am now! Awesome visual, BTW.

MWP.. ITA.. I really like the full sleeve tats.. really like the ones you posted.. those are gorgeous.. *wonderingifIam2oldnow* *sniff* LOL four56-  ETA. I am really enjoying the "fantasy" of Sauli helping Adam come up with a plan for his sleeve tat.. I really like what Sauli has. So maybe he did while they were away.. can;'t wait to see what Adam came up with |
