Isn't it amazing how much hate these lovers of Jesus can generate. What would these bigots do if Jesus ever did come back and professed his love for all living things. We can only imagine how his acceptance of all and his loving nature would be received. Probably about the way they were received 2000 years ago. :( Also, jazzrocks, thanks for the love! May I chime in and say your essays are very impressive. Thanks for joining ATop!

milestougeaux Miles Tougeaux @adamlambert Signed Baseball? Nice gesture but I gotta say this now tops the picture of U on the Harley as best non sequitur @negativeneil Haha! Well, no worries about Adam's ego getting out of control. Dadbert (and Neil, no doubt) would knock him back down in no time flat.

I love that Adam is very aware and focused on the energy exchange with the audience and the fact that he talked about structuring an emotional through line for the show was great. This shows that he is aware of the ability to change the energy of the crowd. To me the best most gifted entertainers can transform that energy. This is something that I think has been a huge part of U2's massive live reputation. People speak of their concerts as cathartic, religious, spiritual, transcendent, etc. A U2 concert is not something you watch, it is something you EXPERIENCE. I think this is what Glam Nation was also, much more an EXPERIENCE than simply a concert. The most interesting to me was even though there were MANY complaints about the wait for Adam to come on stage and many times when the crowd was noticeably angry about it, the second Adam was spotted coming out the energy shifted instantly back to positive. I've seen artists win crowds back after pissing them off but I've never seen it happen that instantly. Many attendees also commented on being angry but that emotion disappearing instantly once he hit the stage. Bono often talks about how music can "change the temperature in a room" and he speaks of the power that can be felt when he and his bandmates take the stage together as opposed to separately because of their long history together. It is an amazing thing when someone's presence so dominates a room as to change the atmosphere completely. It gives me chills to think what Adam's presence will feel like 10 years from now given how powerful it already is. Rihannsu - I've really enjoyed all the things you've posted about U2 and the U2 fandom. I wouldn't really say I'm a fan; I like some of their music, and Bono certainly is an interesting character, but you've made me want to know more. The ups and downs of a long career, the business side of making music, the relationship with fans over decades, the craziness of fame; lots of food for thought for its own sake and how it might someday relate to Adam. Really interesting. For an inside look at the insanity of true creative freedom with no budget restrictions read U2: At the End of the World by Bill Flanagan. He chronicles the ZooTV tour of the early nineties when U2 hit the road with an absolutely insane constantly evolving production. Also watch the DVD "U2 Zoo TV": Live from Sydney" to get an experience of the show, although no two shows were really the same. The best overall look at the history from their own perspective is "U2 by U2" Even if you aren't a fan U2 is one of the most chronicled bands in history and have the same four members and manager they started with, not to mention some of their auxiliary crew have been with them for more than 20 years. There are literally hundreds of books about them and I personally have a 36" wide bookshelf with just U2 books on it. You can also learn a good bit about the industry itself by reading about their career. Or for a fascinating look inside Bono's creative mind a great book is "Bono In Conversation" with Michka Assayas which is literally conversations that Michka then transcribed with very little editing. Adam is the closest thing to Bono's creative heir that I can find, another renaissance man. Both are very intelligent people who have an inate gift for reading people and in Bono's case reading culture. Bono really is a visionary and I think Adam will get there too. One of my favorite Bono quotes is "Dream up the world you want to live in, dream out loud at high volume".

I feel like we are referring to octaves as different things. Almost like we are speaking two different languages. lol My daughter can comfortably sing every note in the Soprano I and II choral vocal parts. Those notes cover two octaves alone: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SopranoThat usable range doesn't even include the fact that she can sing the Alto I and Alto II parts, also. For instance, this past Christmas she was pulled from her Soprano section to sing the Alto II part in Biebl's "Ave Maria". (Evidently, it is a very important part to the overall structure of the song and the high school girls were having trouble with the low notes.) So, she definitely has a "usable" Alto range. Perhaps, octaves are measured differently in different classifications of music. The guitar has a four octave range. Kelly Clarkson has a 3 and 1/2 octave range. Christina A. has a four octave range and Mariah has a five octave range. Kris Allen barely reaches two octaves. Adam's range is closer to Christina's range, not closer to Kris Allen's. Okay, now I am confused. An octave is defined as the the eight note jump from one C to the next C, or one Bb to the next Bb, etc. I've never heard it defined any other way. In the wickipedia article you quoted, it says the soprano range is generally thought to be middle C (C4) to the C two octaves above that (C6). An alto is range is quoted to be generally a G3 (G below middle C) to F5 (F an octave and a half above middle C, for a range of just under 2 octaves). So, if your daughter can sing both the alto and soprano ranges, she can sing G3 to C6, for two and a half octaves. It is not absolute, of course, so she may be able to sing several notes higher or lower, making it 3 octaves. Exactly- she can sing from Alto II to Soprano I, and she can hit notes higher than a C6 (the highest note in "Seasons of Love" from Rent). This is unusual, but not unheard of. She has several girls in her college choir that have larger ranges than she has. Sure. Except when Adam is labeled as having a two octave range, it groups him with pop singers who have an average usable range. If Tenor I and Tenor II cover about 2 octaves, Adam's range would go well beyond that. Surely, he has a larger range than a singer who can cover 2-3 choral vocal parts!! She is and yes, she is blessed. She knows many other people with this kind of range, both females and males. I'm just saying Adam is a freak of nature! He isn't just blessed, he is one of the few who have been given a jaw dropping type voice and range. He is in a different class, along with people like Mariah and Christina.
