I just found this. Have no idea how long Adam's picture is already in here and whether this is an official endorsement deal or just their website using celebrities to demonstrate hair styles. But Schwarzkopf is in Germany THE in-salon hair product line with mass presence in a vast number of hair salons. Kind of like Matrix in the US, I suppose. And the name is associated with hair products in Germany like Pantene would be in US, everybody knows that brand. Yes, someone posted this a few days ago but just to comment...I don't know about US, obviously, but Schwarzkopf has been really big in Canada for many years....especially their color line. It is very good. re Susan Boyle, and somewhat related to our ongoing conversation yesterday. I think SuBo has tapped into a really large contingent of people who love musical theatre type songs but do not want to buy or even search for individual tracks. People who do not want to be associated with, or follow shows but want straight up melody and good singing. This crowd has few options. I am a bit surprised there haven't been more examples of this sort of music...not 'old standards' particularly..but the kind of thing that Adam actually did on AI often.
Don't go beating up on me...I am not trying to tell Adam or anyone what to do or what they should like. What I am saying is that I would bet good money that a well produced and promoted cd with Soaked, CLYG, ACIGC, Come home, Mad World, Crazy, I just love you, What's up, I can't make you love me,....and a couple of others in this vein [even Want!]. He would haul in a basketfull of money!! and give Subo a great big run for her money. Just sayin.

She's got a good voice but to me it's nothing spectacular and in all honesty her renditions of these songs are very bland and lack interpretation and emotion. It's like singing by numbers. Adam could never be marketed to this particular group of people who are buying her CDs because he's too "weird" for them. They like their artists safe and there is nothing safe about Adam. Oh Gelly... yes, I'm totally team October! makes me glad that's my birth month

People like to scorn Subo..she is a pretty safe target with very little 'cool' facter...but the numbers tell the tale. Hey....we hated it when we were being called 'sparkle cows' so we should be the last to scorn another huge buying demographic. That is ALL I am saying!! Just filling in time on a slow day.....I didn't buy her album either...not saying I did. Nor am I recommending he 'sell out' if that is what you are thinking. But there are an awful lot of people out there that loved him on Idol and would buy a cd of ballads. I think....

Subo's "I Dreamed a Dream" was amazing but she never equaled it. I think that her personal story is everything. My aunt (age 77) has given my dad (age 84) the last two Subo CDs for Christmas and I'm sure he can expect this one in his stocking this year. They love her because she is Scottish and looks like their mother (a first generation Scottish immigrant). Even my dad says her singing is just "nice." They just like supporting her efforts. My dad is so out of touch with contemporary pop culture it's hilarious. I gave my sister, who is also a big Adam fan, a birthday card with Adam on it (you can make them on the Walgreen's web site). My dad saw it and asked "Who is she?" This was the picture: But lest you think sexual androgyny would disqualify Adam from my dad's record collection, think again. Last year, he asked us to find him a record album he had heard in a friend's apartment and wanted for himself. He said it was an album of old standards sung by "the guy who sounds like a lady." Fortunately I knew him well enough to be able to produce this. He loves it.

This is a bit O/T but I file it under the headline "WTF is going on with RCA and Kelly?" So Kelly has her new single out. It has been sent to radio and goes on sale 9/5/11. She did Elvis and Ryan's shows this morning. And not she is headed off to promote her new single --- in Australia??? (Is there something big going on is AU that is motivating this trip?) I do not detect a lot of enthusiasm from RCA about Kelly's single or upcoming album. Since it is likely to be her last album with them (she sounded pretty bitter about the past on Elvis today), it is not completely surprising. I hope/expect Adam to be treated much better. No, she is going to Australia the day after the I Heart Radio concert. You misunderstood what she said to Ryan. Here is a link to an intervue Kelly did this morning with Kidd Kraddic if anyone is interested. She does talk about how her music leaked (about 85 songs) but some were songs she wrote for other people. Also her battle with Clive Davis and and how it was blown out of portion. She says this album was the easiest to record for her to date. See what Kidd tells her that they want from her. Other interesting tidbits I also heard her full song on another station in town this morning. Now granted she is from here, but I am hoping that Adam's singles will be played just as fast. I agree that her TV promo will probably start with the new shows and Iheart radio concert is also promotion. Still hoping for the best promo for Adam too kiddnation.com/special-guests/kelly-clarkson.html

juniemoon and paperheart....please take a quick look back at what I was claiming. I am NOT in anyway arguing for Subo's artistic talents....what I am saying is that much of her success lies in serving a highly ignored demographic that has plenty of money in their pockets and just waiting for the right music. Currently, they will buy her, and Josh Rogan and sometimes Andrea Bocelli or Sara Brightman [when they put out their non-classical stuff] and that is about it. Part of that demo will like Buble [good grief...look at how well he sold and sells!!] but others will be uninterested in those 'American songbook' offerings...ditto Bennett.
Give this demographic a cd with melodic, crisp, well sung and produced music with no condescension and compromise on quality and I predict it would sell millions. As I always say....I could be wrong... often am...
