NoAngel I'm in love with the Parlotones too! Who'd a thunk it! Ever since I saw that fantastic vid for "Stars Fall Down" mentioned the other day on twitter, I can't get enough of them. They're gonna be in Atlanta on October 14th...would love to see them, but it's a long drive over and back. I understand you're gonna see them the lst of Nov.......I'm so jealous! Yes!!! I'm so excited! They're multiplatinum in SA, but uphill slogging trying to break into other countries. They play arenas at home, but I'll see them in a tiny (350-capacity) club in SF-- yay! I'm also in love with the Parlotones!! That The Stars Rain Down video is incredible. All their videos are incredibly imaginative and visually innovative. Love their sound too. Reminds me of late-80s alt-rock. That was my favorite era. Now, I listen to a balance of classic rock and Top 40. The classic is getting beyond old (I know, 30-40 years later ...), but I've always enjoyed it, but they can't keep playing the same stuff over forever. T40, I'm about 50-50 right now. Some stuff is enjoyable (love Adele, Foster the People, some Eminem, Dr. Dre, etc. If it's funky and fun, I can usually get into it) ... usually. I even enjoy Britney's latest, but the mechanised baby talk they make her sing in sets my teeth on edge, but she's still generally fun. E.T. was my favorite from Katy's album. Then there is A LOT of stuff that is WTAF too. I just hope Adam's stuff is undeniably catchy and driving, has his voice and soul in the forefront and takes no prisoners. I want it to be as game-changing as I feel that he has described and envisioned it. I know I will love it either way. He can sing my bank statement and I'd have it on repeat. (Erm, but please let's agree to NOT do that Adam, I can barely stand to look at my bank statement once as it is ... :-/ thanks!)

Parlotones -- I need to see them live!!!
And SusieFierce may I say ditto to Foster the People. I really enjoy their music. Adele would have been on my list last week but I had to shelve that album because I burned it out.
After years of listening to rock -- I really find little rock radio I enjoy. Less repetitive than CHR but they play the same 100-200 songs they've been playing for years. I am boarded with it.
And honestly, the most listened to music for me for the past 2 years is Adam's.

Just a quick comment on the Costa Mesa Shows. I had a seat in the "pit" area the first night and was given a wrist band when I was let into the area to find my seat. Because I had a wrist band, I was able to stand at the barricades. I remember distinctly, because at that first show, no one stood up there until the intermission. We didn't really know that we could. And then, while killing time and lurking at the stage, we asked the security guy if we could stay up there and he said "we won't be able to stop you." But, you had to have a wrist band to even get into the pit area. At the second show, I was further back, but people were aware they could be at the barricades that night and were there from Allison on. I'm sure they were given wrist bands the same way we were the night before. So, yeah, it could have been Costa Mesa IMHO. :D BTW, I loved seeing the show "up close and personal" the first night and then further back the 2nd night. From further back I really got a feeling for what an awesome production it was. BB did a great job. The slides, the lasers and the full stage choreography were amazing from the front of the second tier - straight on center. Being right at the stage - well......UNF. That is all.

Scorpios4Adam ∞ Naughty Minx ∞ @leecherry Can u tell us at what concert this picture was taken? we're having a debate. Thanks ! www.bit.ly/q5JYDD52 minutes ago in reply to ↑ @leecherry Lee Cherry @scorpios4adam I'm pretty sure it was Costa Mesa.10 minutes ago I've seen comments on twitter from people who attended the Costa Mesa show that this is indeed from there. Yup, DEFINITELY Costa Mesa #2! My kiwi friend is in the front row, she's the one who's face is partially cut off by Adam's right hip!! (She's wearing a black NZ cap that she gave to Adam at our NZ concert M&G! ) I was much further back, but enjoyed the first CM concert from the 2nd and front row! This was taken about 2-3 hours before I met Adam for the first time when he signed after the concert Flew back to NZ the next day. I was so excited when I saw this photo - recognised my friend straight away!!!

Great questions! Well, as far as Adam's album, I'd love sexy pop songs a la Natalia Kills. Her album is amazing, and a song like Mirrors would be awesome, although it gets into the whole-- 'is it too sexy to be sung by a man' issue. I'd also love a song like Adele's Rolling in the Deep. Something like Eminem/Rihanna Love The Way You Lie (duet with a female hiphop artist) would be very cool. I think P!nk-style songs would be great for him-- like Please Don't Leave Me. And I'm also in love with a new-to-me band, The Parlotones. They're South African, and classified as indie/alt, but one review called it "intellectual dance music" LOL. Here's a good example: And yeah, my musical taste has definitely expanded, BA. I've always liked some pop music, but I've discovered lots of artists that I love, directly or indirectly through Adam-- Sia, Scissors Sisters, Rihanna, (some) Jessie J, etc. I loved Gaga before Adam, and I really love her latest album. Songs like that for Adam would make me happy, too. Parlotones FTW LOL!!! After the discussion we had on twitter the other day, an Adam fan from SA suggested 2 of their CD's and I bought them. I like physical CD's and I got an e-mail today that my order has been dispatched. Yay! ;D

Late reply - what do I want from Adam? Basically everything he's been describing about his second album sounds really good to me. I don't really care what he does, as long as it sounds contemporary -- including the occasional retro twist and flavor on songs can work with this too - see Adele and Bruno (which is different in my mind from repeating slightly past sell-by date genres, the HAC trap).
Before Adam I listened to an alternative album station, and my playlist had Muse, Coldplay, and Franz Ferdinand influenced by that. I also listened to electronica and world music and a very wide range of everything else. I liked the bigger pop/dance stars, but rarely bought pop music or listened to pop radio.
After Adam I started listening to Top 40 and really enjoy Rihanna, Gaga, Pink and Beyonce.
Current itunes and CD's in most frequent rotation this week:
Beyonce 4 Adele Johnny Cash (his Hurt and Personal Jesus are some of my all time favorite covers) Girl Talk - All Day (mashup/sampling king) Sia Christina Perri Nikka Costa Delirium Massive Attack Thievery Corporation Scissor Sisters The White Stripes Manu Chao Gaga - BTW Satan's Pilgrims (surf rock)
I don't listen to FYE at all anymore, but I do listen to the remixes (Aftermath remix!) and Acoustic Live fairly often, and parts of Glamnation Live.

Awww! Thanks for all the welcomes guys. I'm seriously not a poster but I'll try to speak up once in a while. Nasty storm heading our way here in the gulf. Hope we don't drown again. "Flash flood watches were issued for parts of southern Louisiana and Mississippi. Up to 20 inches of rain could fall in some area and tides could be one to two feet above normal, forecasters said." Barely a news story --- The soon to be named TS Lee could be a major event. Hope the New Orleans levees hold and that Mississippi gets spared!! (Mississippi already paid its dues to the storm gods this year!) The good news is that it will send some much needed rain to the mid-South.

tigerlily, what a fantastic question! I would also like songs with lyrics that challenge the listener. Something unexpected. The best recent example I can come up with is Foster The Peoples "Pumped up kicks". While the message in the song is dark and depressing, musically it's upbeat and fun. It's such a contradiction and I love that. Dead thread, but I also have to add my love for Foster the People's Pumped Up Kicks. Such an addictive song! A light and breezy sound about a Columbine-like shooter. Love the contradiction as well. Really makes the song that much more powerful. My MP3 playlist has 25% Adam and the rest is a mix of Alternative, Country, with a few classic rock songs, old Punk, and contemporary hits thrown in (Adele, Pink, songs from Katy Perry's first album). I rarely listen to the radio since it is 95% tripe. Not sure what I want from Adam. I'm not and never have been a fan of pop (well, maybe when I was a tween and into my teen idols). My favorite Adam songs, DtRH, CLYG, definitely stray away from typical Pop. I'll wait and see and hope that I like whatever he has to offer.
