katiemelb Katie Purvis Good list! (Adam fans: he's mentioned under 'Mad World') RT @brainpicker: The 100 greatest cover songs of all time www.j.mp/pvTdQd7 hours ago The Popdose 100: The Greatest Cover Songs of All TimePOPDOSE STAFF AUGUST 31, 2011 25. “Mad World” – Gary Jules. Originally performed by Tears for Fears. Gary who? Everyone knows “Mad World” and a good number of people can tell you that the original version was done by Tears for Fears. Even more people probably can tell you that Adam Lambert sung it on American Idol. But ask them who sang the sad ’90s version from Donnie Darko and most won’t know. Sometimes it can be sad to see that the only song a songwriter is really known for is one that he covered but in this case it’s a career defining moment delivered with such passion and heartbreak that you can’t help but fall in love with it. — Dave Steed

This is a bit O/T but I file it under the headline "WTF is going on with RCA and Kelly?" So Kelly has her new single out. It has been sent to radio and goes on sale 9/5/11. She did Elvis and Ryan's shows this morning. And not she is headed off to promote her new single --- in Australia??? (Is there something big going on is AU that is motivating this trip?) Kelly did a bunch of radio promo yesterday (a total of like 10+ radio interviews just yesterday and more coming up today and probably through the week ramping up for her new single which everyone seems to love btw) and she goes to Australia following the iheartradio music festival which happens 9/23 so she's not leaving today or anything like that. The reason she's probably going to Australia is because she's much more successful in Australia than in the U.S. She's played to crowds of over 20K+ there while on tour. Did you hear another Elvis Duran interview because I just listened to her interview with him from yesterday and she didn't even mention the past ??? I'd be curious what kind of enthusiasm you'd be able to detect from RCA? The promo just officially started with the webcast release of her single. and are you insinuating that RCA isn't excited because this is album #5 and could be her last one with them? Kelly is one of RCA biggest artists and has sold 20+ million albums for them; so if you perceive they are treating her poorly then you probably shouldn't expect/hope that they will treat Adam any better IMO. Personally, I think RCA treats all of their artists like crap. They seem to do the bare minimum when it comes to promo both for singles and for albums. It's usually through the artists own hardwork that they are able to find above average success. ITA Kelly is very successful for them and since I know nothing about the inner workings of RCA I am just gonna sit back and hope her single is a success. I love Kelly =)

I do not detect a lot of enthusiasm from RCA about Kelly's single or upcoming album. Since it is likely to be her last album with them (she sounded pretty bitter about the past on Elvis today), it is not completely surprising. I hope/expect Adam to be treated much better. No, she is going to Australia the day after the I Heart Radio concert. You misunderstood what she said to Ryan.

A little OT but, this morning in the mail I received a card from AT&T mobile explaining how they were now giving me FREE mobile to any mobile calling and then when I checked email just a minute ago there was a message from Time Warner Cable that they were increasing my internet speed for FREE and all I had to do was reboot my modem; both claimed it was for being a good customer. Here is my dilemma, I want to be happy but all I really feel is a little paranoid. Cynically I am just looking for the hidden catch. I think I will meditate and try to find my inner child who can appreciate the simple existence of good fortune, or better yet go watch the Burning Man stream. ??? ;D This meditation smiley is amazing haha! Simply appreciate your good fortune and go watch Burning Man! ;D

When the morning and late night talk shows come back next week, I expect Kelly will be all over TV. This is a DEAD week, TV-wise. I think it's one of the few of the year where the entire productions shut down. I think it's good she has a week to concentrate totally on radio and next two weeks she can hit the New York and L.A. TV circuit. It will still be a couple of weeks before some of the new shows debut (Ellen, Anderson's new show, etc.), but I don't see any kind of dismissal of her from my perspective.

Anyone who is on Twitter might want to take the time to send a supportive message to Chaz Bono, who is getting a lot of hateful and ignorant comments since it was announced that he will be appearing on Dancing With The Stars. His twitter is @chazbono. I sent a message to his mother Cher as well (@cher) because she has seen the hate and is speaking up for her son. I really admire Chaz for having the courage to be who he is and I wanted to do my small part to counteract the bigotry. Adam content? "Love overcomes hate. Love has no color. Love has no orientation. All is love."

I caved, too, and re-upped. The Glitter will do until the dust settles. It's not like I want the shirt, card, or letter, unless it is personally delivered, but if there are really going to be advanced ticket sales, I'd like to be eligible. I never thought much about it when I signed up last year, but for some reason I feel like a 12 yr old girl this time, so much so that I had to go run a few miles on the beach and do 100 pull-ups to confirm my manhood. It worked - grrrrrrrr. Now I feel like Rocky. Well I'm glad you're feeling better but I"M feeling like an idiot. I complained and bitched about being expected to renew a package sight unseen - AND THEN DID JUST THAT!! They hadn't said you could "upgrade" and that point, and with the impending hurricane I got all freaked out about missing my expiration deadline. I've probably paid $20 plus $11.95 : S & H for a leftover disco ball keychain (honestly, I'm known as being very thrifty - I pride myself on it. Yet, dammit.....that innate trait completely disappears when it comes to Mr. Adam Lambert) anyhoo..... HAPPY BIRTHDAY SLEEPWALKER!!!!!

Just listened to both of Kelly's interviews again, Z100 and Ryan's. The only thing she complained about in either interview was not being able to find a boyfriend. No mention or badmouthing of RCA or anyone, not even close. :-/

v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTM1NzIzMjI4.htmlBored, so went to listen to old Adam interviews. This one, especially after the 9:00 mark is awesome. He discusses each track, his vision for FYE, etc. Nothing new and I'm sure you've all seen this, fun to look back and Adam is so relaxed and totally himself (like I know that from personal experience.) Man, I have this on DVD and have only watched it once. Bad, Bad me. Listening again, I think that those of us who want to see him in a musical again are thinking too small. What we should be wishing for is a new production with Adam being the producer/director and also starring. Then, no one else will be telling him "where to stand and how to sing". Perfect!
