I actually thought the duet with Melissa was really fun. It brought to life Brian May's explanation of how live performance is raw and real because it is dangerous. That's how I saw this performance, along with, as someone else mentioned way earlier in a thread, his Queen performance with Lady GaGa. I think it is so entertaining and exciting to see two professionals, both talented and iconic in their own rights, find their way to synchronicity before a live audience. I love all of Adam's "perfect" performances, but these risky ones are uniquely and entertainingly exhilarating.

Thanks Cassie and girldrummer, you both pretty much echoed what I took away from the performance.

I wish Adam had not said anything about it, lol. Now I will be looking for the flaws instead of just enjoying the performance or not. He did something like that with that Madonna song (Diva) but I saw it at the time of the performance, before he said he had messed it up. Oh well. I guess a video will surface soon.

Actually, that's why I'm not really a concert goer...I usually much prefer the recorded versions of a song. I can hear the flats, the misses, and it throws me right out of the song. Add to that all the distractions of a ton of people around me, and it kind of spoils the experience for me. But I never listen to music as a background noise, never. I always listen to music to actually "hear" the music, so when I get distracted from that, it spoils it for me. I know, I'm weird lol. Hubby is just the opposite, he can rarely tell you what a song is about...doesn't care about the lyrics really, wouldn't know a harmony it if hit him over the head...just wants the background noise.

Never really been a fan of Melissa's music or her voice so wasn't enamoured with the performance because of that. Adam appeared to be having "fun" and likely in the room things would have felt different. But after the raw intensity and beauty of his duets with Brian and his guitar before IWIA just about any other will likely come up short...
Different kinds of voices can blend - Indigo girls and Pink singing together on Mr President comes to mind, or Alison Kraus and Robert Plant. For it to work there does need to be a space for what each brings so they can come together. My take on why this performance didn't fly, was they were too often trying to inhabit the same space.

Doesn't seem weird to me. I have difficulty with many live performances, too. When a singer is off pitch my throat actually tightens reflexively, trying to "fix" the pitch. Angelina and I have discussed this. We both have commented, independently, on how we feel we can relax and feel comfortable when attending an Adam concert. We know that he is not going to mess up vocally.

I'm always really nervous whenever Adam performs at big events, especially televised ones. I typically won't watch the video unless I hear on social media that it was great. I wasn't hearing much flailing at all, so I had a feeling Adam didn't blow it out of the water as he usually does. I probably won't watch it now after reading the comments here. I still do watch "Girl Crush" and "One More Try" pretty regularly.

cassie, thanks again and as always for being so patient with my requests for explanations. Always appreciated. As a special thank you, red shirt. Hmmm, appears that someone played with the image, looks like it could be a theater ad from one of Elvis' movies.🤔 Maybe the way the stage lights look? But, red shirt.

This is wonderful! So well done and all Adam's moves- awesome! And the voice was explained by the fact that she is a woman! This makes me smile!
