Did they try to "out-belt" each other? It may have sounded differently from the live audience's perspective, and we haven't heard the full song yet, but as of now I am not crushing as hard as I did when Adam sang with Leona Lewis at the CMAs a while ago. Two very different songs of course. I think I know what you guys are getting at. Adam nailed it, of course, but Melissa has such a different style that the song kind of lost its footing for a bit. Adam's great at riffing and playing with a melody. And Melissa has a gritty, bluesy style with a husky voice. They both did a little ad libbing with this performance and it lost its way a bit, IMO. But I loved it anyway, and I think the audience did, took. I liked Adam's riffing at the end and his lower register stuff at the beginning but some artists do match up better than others, I think, and some songs are better suited for duets than others. All in all, cool that they performed together for a worthy cause. It sounds like the audience loved it. bullsfan , I don't disagree, "some things just translate better in front of a live audience---and this moment is probably one of them."

I never liked that song to begin with ,although I love Melissa. Adam and Melissa Singing Come to my window would be my choice To add I think their harmony was terrific and I did love the bit of competition. I thought Adam did a great job,Melissa is a tough act to sing with or to follow, but Adam had moments of blowing her away..LOL

twitter.com/BillboardPride/status/993242266067177472Billboard Pride @billboardpride .@adamlambert applauds @troyesivan's "anthem for bottoms" blbrd.cm/1IqNNL Adam Lambert attends the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards at Mercury Ballroom at the New York Hilton on May 5, 2018 in New York City. Before taking the stage with Melissa Etheridge to duet on her classic “I’m the Only One” at the 29th GLAAD Media Awards in New York City on Saturday (May 5), Adam Lambert hit the red carpet and spoke to Billboard about the music he’s listening to lately -- and one song in particular that has him cheering. “I’m loving Troye Sivan’s new single, the ‘Bloom’ song,” Lambert told Billboard. “ And I love that he’s being so brave and cheeky and being in the media like, ‘This is a song, an anthem for bottoms.’ I’m like, ‘Go on Troye, good job.’” After performing with Etheridge, Lambert spoke to Billboard about the changes he’s seen in mainstream culture’s acceptance of the LGBTQ community over the course of his career. “At one point in time to be a musician in mainstream music, you had to second guess some things or be careful what you said,” Lambert reflected. “It’s changing so rapidly, which is wonderful, and at an event like this we can be reminded that things are shifting night and day in the music industry, even compared to 10 years ago."
