On another kinda OT but not really note...I just got home and in the car was listening to my Sisius XM radio and they must have been playing some Labor Day or end of summer countdown and they were playing Avril's new song 'Smile' and the DJ announced that Avril will soon be appearing in a show called Majors and Minors with other stars like Jordin Sparks and.... ADAM LEVINE. I lol'd so hard. Yeeeeah unless I didn't get the memo, it's LAMBERT who is gonna be in the show. A+++ job of fact checking their radio staff. LOL. I wonder if those two won't continue to be mized up for one another in the future? I have this god-awful ohuuga boogla feeling that YES they'll continue to be mixed up.  |

Reihmer - help me put off housework just a little longer. Do you have any pictures from the outdoor concert last summer when he wore the white shirt?  Do you mean this one?

Paper--I don't hope he goes all Bruno Marsian on us too. But then again that's more the PD's fault for playing the same song 10000000000000 times a day. Adam Lambert does not seem like a common name, but right after him, there was Alex Lambert, Miranda Lambert and Adam Levine all in close proximity. Ah well, there is no substitute. Speaking of cheesy lyrics, the conversation reminded me of two lyrics of hit songs that have made me stabby since high school. I hate cliches as lyrics, so though I know Sting is widely considered a genius, every time I hear "You and me and baby makes three," I cringe. And Hall & Oates' "I can't go for that, no, no can do" gives me so much SHE I can't even ... On Kelly, I've always loved her singing. Love her power ballads and her raw, emotional energy. "Since You've Been Gone," "Already Gone" and "Because of You" will always grab me. ETA: Adam in white is just ... OOOOMMMMGGGG!!! New visualization: Adam in all white on his album cover. Somehow, without evoking any "jumpsuit Elvis" comparisons. |

OT. I remember earlier, around the time that OoL debuted, either on this blog or another, where we were talking about cliched/bad lyrics in songs and compared and contrasted them with some of the songs that Adam has written, and saying that he was not as good of a songwriter etc.. And was just listening to radio, and Moves like Jagger came on, dont' know if it's just me but that song seems to be littered with cliche lyrics, and even though I love Adele's Someone Like You, it has it's share of a few cliched lyrics in there too, I think part of the reason that makes us forget the cliche, or wash over them, is because of how they are sung, or the melody or something. I don't think I've heard too many songs that do not have cliched lyrics. Just hearing what the writer rhymes makes me LOL sometimes. |

PS. I am loving Foster the People and Parlotones. Thanks! I have never been a fan of most of the bands that Adam has recommended, but the Foster the People album is definitely my new jams...that whole album is sooooo good! I am also going to see them live when they come through Las Vegas on 10/20!  I checked if they would be in Austin and yes, ACL but it is sold out as are many of their other concerts. rabbitrabbit, yes to some gender substitutions for Magic Man and double yes to an live encore ... I think Monte could provide some great guitar and the riffing Adam could do would be amazing. juniemoon, high-minded (LOL). We here frequently play in the shallow end, we just haven't had much new material to work with lately. I mean Quebec was over a month ago. |
