SusieFierce This article I remember was from cast members from Wicked talking about Adam, and they said these things about him. That he went to the producers and told them that if they give him the lead role he won't go to Idol ,.and that the producers thought he wasn't as strict etc.... Adam never said anything about this, I didn't make myself clear in the first place. Was this the article you remember, I had it bookmarked. famewatcher.com/adam-lamberts-broadway-friends-cheering.html

Regarding Adam and Wicked and Idol --- here is what Adam told the LA Times.... I Where did you audition?
In San Francisco. I drove up with two of my best friends. The next morning I had gotten an hour’s sleep because I was really anxious, and right as I auditioned, I reached this epiphany where I thought, “You’re about to be 27. What do you have to show for yourself? You’ve done a couple shows. You’re working. You know you can pay your bills but do you want to do something great? Do you want to do something major and launch yourself? Yeah, I do,” and I knew that “Idol” was going to be, if I could get it, such a platform. I’d seen people that had been on “Idol” and were eliminated playing leads on Broadway, and I knew that’s the way New York is now. If you’re on TV and you’re a celebrity, you can get a lead in a Broadway show. I thought that’s what I should do because they don’t seem to want to promote me at “Wicked.” The worst-case scenario is that it would enhance my career in the theater and the best-case scenario is that I could do really well -- and I didn’t know what it was going to be.
You knew the odds were against you, but that was OK, right?
Yes. I walked into the first audition with the judges, and Simon and Kara said, “You’re theatrical.” I had a feeling it was going to go down like this. They’re going to be, “Oh, he’s too Broadway,” even though I don’t feel like I actually am when I sing. I’m theatrical, but I don’t think that it’s necessarily musical theater.
What did you sing at your first audition?
I sang “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley and then “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and they said, “Don’t sing ‘Crazy’ at the next audition because they can’t get the rights to it and everybody tries to sing it." I sang [“Rock With You” by] Michael Jackson and they wanted to hear another one so I sang “Bohemian Rhapsody” and that’s the one they ended up showing on TV.One more piece of this great interview by Fred Bronson.... Could you ever have imagined while auditioning with “Bohemian Rhapsody” that a few months later you’d be on stage singing lead vocals with Queen?
Weird. It’s weird full circle stuff all around. It’s thrilling, but it almost loses its impact in a funny way, like, “Oh, of course I’m onstage with Queen.” What the hell’s going on? “Of course, KISS.” I can’t believe it. This can sound very pretentious if taken the wrong way but I almost feel like I’ve been preparing for this my whole life. I do feel this is what I’m supposed to be doing and I have a fatalistic view on life that things happen for a reason. I feel like everything that’s led up to this point has prepared me for this. It’s the whole “Slumdog Millionaire” thing, where it’s like his whole life like leads up to that moment and the only way he gets through that moment is because of all of his experiences. I went to see “Slumdog” as this was all happening and I was just in tears because I was so touched by the concept of that movie. And I wouldn’t have done what I did on the show had it not been for what I’ve gone through and my experiences in my life and what age I’m at. I wouldn’t have been that confident. I would have been second guessing myself. I would have been really busy people-pleasing as opposed to just doing what I do. It was meant to be now.Link: latimesblogs.latimes.com/americanidoltracker/2009/08/adam-lambert-the-ultimate-interview-part-three.html

Thank you, Lulu, the excerpts were one of the first things I ever read about Adam. I tried to find it on Broadway.com several months ago, but couldn't – or I got totally distracted and gave up. Haha!! Actually, I thought the quote was "air-conditioning vents," but that sounded kind of goofy when I wrote it, so I changed it to "through the walls." I didn't remember that first quote at all being from Alisan and how cute is he? The loudest-cheering audience member ever? He gets back what he gives away ... Off to a pre-Labor Day BBQ!!

Hi Guys, I'm just home from a week of backpacking and looking in to see if there was any Adam news while I was in the Sierras. Just judging from the short threads, I guess not. I skimmed yesterday's thread very quickly. Lots of great songs posted. I'll have to make time to go back and listen.
Also, thanks Aurora for mentioning that the Burning Man webcast talked about The Dodos! I would never have known without your comment.
And, Hoopla, no, I was not the one who told you about the story behind Should Be Loved. But thanks for thinking I was so clever!
peace&love

He also had two call backs for Glee but they decided he was too old for the part. If he had been cast on Glee, he would have been type cast as "theater kid" forever. What a bunch of hooey. Cory Monteith is the same age as Adam but in the long run I guess I'm glad the producers passed on Adam. Glee seems to be loosing momentum with the movie flopping and all.

Adam never said anything about this, I didn't make myself clear in the first place. OHHH, okay, thanks! That makes more sense. I was confused. Another thing I always thought strange was in E!THS where Adam says he had to quit his job "just to audition." I think he might have been compressing a bit because I cannot imagine he would have to quit his professional gig just to do the cattle call auditions. Once he made it to the judges and Hollywood Week, THAT I understand, since contestants would be on TV, etc. But if he had to quit before going to the 1 of 300,000? Talk about your HUGE gambles. And on the subject of gambling ... LOL!! American Idol slot machine in Vegas. Adam featured. Adam auditioned for Idol in July 2008. He played Fiyero on Aug 8 & 9, 2008. Adam Lambert video off my facebookUploaded by gerardus1aunt on Aug 5, 2009 The original was recorded Aug. 8, 2008 after the show Wicked and the cast came out. He was Fiyero. The original video was uploaded to my facebook acct but my old computer crashed with all my vids, so I don't know how to transfer video FROM facebook to Youtube...so here it is rerecorded off of my facebook acct. Hope you enjoy it anyway I believe most of the YouTubes of Adam as Fiyero are from the Aug 9, 2008 performance. That's the date given for the DVD's I've seen. If this is correct, he left Wicked Oct 28, 2008.
