Kelly's been around for 9 years. She didn't get immediate adds two years into her career. It takes time to build up that kind of cache on radio, especially for an idol alum on pop radio. Here's hoping in 7 years he is ;D out of curiosity - how long was Katy Perry around? Is AI such a terrible-almost impossible-to-overcome-unless-around-for- nine-years impediment? No, even Kelly did not have to wait 9 years. She really broke thru with her second album. I think the difference is that in 2004 Kelly got airplay for songs that were really quite good. In 2011 Kelly will get airplay for a single that is just OK IMHO YMMV. Katy Perry's on her second major label album and has an unmatched track record for her singles. Billboard Hot 100 Chart positions for her 9 singles. KP Album #1 - 3 4 singles - #1, #3, #29, #9 KP Album #2 - 5 singles - #1, #1, #1, #1, #1 (5 #1's tied with Michael Jackson) And at this stage in Adam's career, he needs to put out music that people what to hear and request -- and he needs to move beyond his current fanbase. He is not an established artist like Kelly or Pink. He does not have 3 Top 10 singles and a #1 song like Katy had when she released her second album. He was successful enough to get a shot, but not guaranteed airplay. A few artists -- Usher, Beyonce, Rihanna, Gaga, Katy, Pitball, etc. could probably put out total crap and would get airplay. It is the way it has always been. The Beatles were this way and even the "Ringo songs" got airplay. |

An aerial view of the Burning man site. It is so symmetrical. The engineer in me admires the organization required to make this happen.  I like this picture with the women with the play swords, the other burners and the ropes pullng the Trojan Horse. Looks like fun.  |
