I actually thought, that it’s an old hat by now. I mean, it’s the third/ fourth interview, where Adam said that. The first one was the Attitude one. (I remember, that I had problems with Adam saying, that Freddie had been married to a woman, when he technically never was.) I guess, that’s why the interviewer was asking. He referenced to an older interview, where Adam has already spoken about Freddie’s sexuality. Yep, the last time there was a big worry that the Queenies would get all over him for saying wife, and this one he said married and wife both and not even a whiff of worry there. It also might help to put a lip lock on the folks complaining that the movie doesn't explore his sexuality, meaning his gayness. Well if he was bisexual maybe they can shut up a little. Is it Freddie fans or the person who's spent many a night with Freddie's actual friends more likely in the know? Oh the 26 year old fans for sure know more!

If you google Dan Wootton and the word gay you'll see many articles about him in the context of being a controversial journalist / celebrity reporter in the gay community, including many interviews he's done on behalf of the Sun. The British papers / tabloids wrote ad nauseum about Freddie before he died speculating about his sexuality, health, and partners. Since his death, Freddie's male and female partners, lifestyle, AIDS, etc have been covered in newspapers and books, including the Sun tabloid. Jim Hutton, his main partner at the end for years (now deceased), and Mary Austin, his earlier partner and beneficiary of most of his estate, have discussed openly their relationship with Freddie. Queen members and Dave Clark, who was with Freddie when he died, have all talked more openly about his life as years have passed.
The headline of Adam saying Freddie wasn't gay -- not helpful for Adam IMO but certainly a headline grabber for the Sun. I was surprised that an interview / podcast with a Sun reporter was arranged for Adam. Lots of history with George Michael and the Sun. He felt hounded by that pub.
