Dumb blond question. Do I get to pick 3 songs from every page, or 3 songs total? I assumed this also, sugaree, and it was not till near the last list of the first section that it dawned on me that I had 3 choices for each page. I wished I could go back as I was really monitoring my choices as I assumed I only had 3 over all. The first few lists may be under-represented in the totals, which is kind of sad....

Maybe we could have a "Do Over"?

Borrows blonde hair ;D and asks a question: I just noticed that I voted without logging in, are those votes OK too?

I don't know if you are doing anything wrong, I just voted and it worked for me, so ... But when you arrow to the next page, do your choices disappear from view? No, they don't disappear and although probably already answered, you pick up to three on every page.

I'm sort of wondering if we are all really on the same page and voting for the same thing when we say "Greatest Song". I think of that as being the song itself - is the song intrinsically great and would be at least enjoyable sung by nearly anyone who doesn't out and out butcher it? However, I get the impression that I'm interpreting this different and maybe most people are looking at it as a Song + Artist particular performance type of thing. I've been thinking along the lines of "would this song still be great sung by someone else?" "how about if it were sung in totally different styles?" and so on. I just finished voting, but I think maybe my votes aren't in line with the poll. At first I was thinking that listing the performer was just to help people know which song it was (particularly where there is more than 1 with the same name) but the further I got in the list, the less that seemed to be the purpose. Summertime was listed as "Ella Fitzgerald" which is the youtube I posted, but if the point was to clarify which song it was, then "Porgy & Bess" or "Gershwin" would make more sense since a ton of people have covered this song. But if the point is to vote on this particular version/performance for greatest song, then it makes sense. Anyway, I think I messed up the voting since I was thinking about this totally differently! I think we can interpret the phrase "greatest song" however we want. All interpretations are valid, so there's no way to mess up the voting. Besides, it's not as if it goes on our Permanent Records! (Pun intended.)

I know this is all a 'pain' for you, Q3 but...if others like the idea....rather than a second option for songs that we think do not belong .. how about the top for songs that we believe are really 'good songs'...well written...classics perhaps...good meaningful or pivotal songs and the second list for songs that are personal favorits. Sort of like the difference between 'America's best song/dancer' and 'America's favorite song/dancer"...the importance being best vs favorite....just used 'America' to draw the allusion to SYTYCD....not to the continent and even less to the US...
just a thought for all us blondes, and wannabe blondes. [hehehe I happen to be the 'real deal']

(Pun intended.) True - it is just a "fun" poll so it isn't a huge deal. However, I would have voted (and nominated) very differently if I had been thinking Song+Artist/Performance vs Song merit only. THere may be even other ways to interpret "greatest song". The engineer in me is feeling like the results of this poll won't actually tell us anything at all since we weren't all voting for the same concept.
