Hey universe! Can you fix the water distribution at bit?
While the universe is getting it's act together, if you have too much rain and water may the sun shine brightly today. If you needs some rain, you can have mine!!
Small question – why isn’t there a LBG T-party?
In our post-911 world ---
We really need more artists like Adam
9.11.11 by Q3
Today is the 10 year anniversary of 911. The events are being remembered in large celebrations involving the President, VP, 3 former presidents and almost every other American politician, choirs, military honor guards, and more to some memorials like a remembrance banner hanging in an airport. There are countless articles and TV programs about how the events of that tragic day affected our lives in so many ways.
I have read quite a lot of those articles. But none of the articles I read even hinted at the effect 911 had on our culture and entertainment.
But it is clear that 911 seems to coincide with a artistic shift. Artists were changed by the events and so were entertainment consumers – the audience – they needed to escape from reality at bit.
There is shockingly little visual or performance art about 911. The story has been left in the hands of newspeople.
Look at the rise of feel-good music in the last ten year, the resurgence of nonsense party pop songs, and the sift in music from taking on large, social and political topics to a focus on personal stories, seems to be a response to 911 and the “war on terror”. And the Great Recession of 2008 to the mix and you have a perfect environment for an entertainer who can transport his audience from the stress of daily live to another planet.
So love him or not – Adam is the 21st Century Boy. And love these times or not – the 21st Century was made for Adam and artist like him.
As always -- JMHO!!

Brotherly Love and the Art of Communication
9/11/2011 by NoAngel
Since I am a person who enjoys banging my head against hard objects, I've engaged with Neil Lambert in Twitter conversation recently. For those who don't have the pleasure of following him, over the last few days he's been outspoken about health policy issues and he hammers his points home using insults, expletives, and vehement argument. He is 100% right and everyone else is an idiot. I'm sure he convinces quite a few… :.
During the infamous driving-to-Thanksgiving argument*, according to Neil, Adam asked his younger brother if he "could ever manage to interact with human beings on a base level that doesn't make you look like a fucking shitheel?" Neil's uncle Dave later weighed in about "having to listen to you (Neil) repeatedly stating in the most sarcastic fucking way fucking uttered by any fucking human fucking being on the fucking planet, what a fucking wonderful fucking time you were fucking having as you fucking sneered with fucking vapid vapids… when you were not fucking fighting with Adam." Ouch.
It would be easy to dismiss Neil as a rude blowhard, but the thing is, just like anyone else, he only wants to be heard. Trouble is, he can't quite seem to figure it out. His brother, on the other hand…
Adam somehow manages to make his points without looking like a fucking shitheel. How does he do it? It isn't that Neil has stronger opinions or that Adam concedes on what he wants. Adam is a control freak, yet even on his first real attempt at being the boss, he led a diverse group of musicians and dancers around the world at a breakneck speed and never did we hear a word of discord. In a Stockholm interview, his drummer Isaac Carpenter said Adam "kinda leads … just by being confident, but he definitely doesn’t micromanage … things slowly take on a life of their own without anybody telling anybody what to do… ."
All the evidence points to Adam as a master of communication and connection. We see it in interviews—at the way he pays full attention to whoever is speaking, even if it's in a foreign language. We've seen it after performances where he thanks the people behind the scenes and those who share his stage. Acknowledging the contributions of others comes to Adam like breathing; he has a shocking lack of ego for someone who craves the spotlight so hard.
It isn't that Adam doesn't push the envelope or that he isn't making strong demands. So how does one challenge societal norms without alienating fellow members of society? For Adam it's all about connection; making love, not war. He embraces the values of peace, love, and community that have been the common thread from his Hair days to his latest trek to Burning Man. For Adam, the shared tribe is one that he seeks to always expand; his life is an exercise in inclusion rather than exclusion. He looks at people with different opinions and seeks to find common ground.
Adam frequently speaks about the energy he finds in connecting with others. I might eyeroll at his affinity for astrology, but I realize that for Adam it is another way to understand and to connect. Genuinely interested in others, he is that rare person who lives to share. Adam understands that when it comes to love, "the more I give to thee, the more I have, for both are infinite." ** And the better he can connect, the better he can communicate.
Adam's gift is communicating as much as it is singing. We love to hear him talk as much as we adore his music. And through his words, spoken and sung, he's created a community. His fanbase reflects his vision—all ages, races, nationalities—we bond around shared love of Adam. And importantly, we look for ways in which we are the same, no matter what flag waves over our country or what labels we've attached to ourselves.
Neil once wrote, "I always find myself content to observe, analyze, comment. It’s… hollow. What’s the point of living if you don’t create anything."*
His brother asks a different question—what is the point of creating if you don't connect? Somehow I think Adam has the right idea.
