9.13.2011 Adam News & Info

I am only on page 7 of this thread, so by the time I post this it may be irrelevant or already said a million times better than I can say it.

First of all, I want you to know that I respect all of you that post frequently on this board, and that I respect everyone's right to process this situation in their own way. I wrote a ridiculously long post about this at the end of yesterday's thread (sorry guys, this will be shorter.)

I just want to put a plug in for Adam in two areas that have surfaced in today's discussion.

1) A feeling of anger at not being told the "real story"
RCA has never really told us anything. Realistically, record companies don't do that.
Adam, however has tried to accommodate us by telling us things that are "real." We asked Adam repeatedly, as did reporters, about when we could expect a new album, and I believe he gave the truth as he knew it. Adam is optimistic and positive, and I believe he had every hope to be able to deliver an album by fall as he originally hinted. However,
things happen. Restructuring, Adam not feeling satisfied with the album yet, difficulties with RCA...who knows? The album is not coming out in the fall, and Adam is letting us know that now that he knows that. When Adam says October-ish for a single, 90%,
again, I believe this is the truth; he is going to try his hardest to make this happen, and
he will let us know if things change. I believe this type of communication comes because
Adam chooses to be positive, a trait we all LOVE about him rather than from a place of being "slippery." That is why I choose to be positive about this "flip" side of positive
communication, if you want to call it that.

2) The idea that Adam is getting screwed

If Adam is getting screwed, and that is a big IF because we have NO idea what the
behind-the-scene story is (and no, fandom at large shouldn't be told that story as
it would lead to nothing but trouble for Adam and would be very unwise. Either he'd be screwing himself or RCA, neither of which would be at all beneficial for either party, which is why he is trying to state the news of the delay in the most positive way he can...thanks for being patient, single is coming; you won't be disappointed...).

Anyway, to continue, just the idea that Adam might be facing challenges makes me feel like rushing forward to help him out more than ever. I understand sometimes we need to take breaks from challenges to rest and fill up so we have strength again for the fight, but
consider taking breaks because you want to have even more energy to support Adam's success- both because you feel he deserves it, and because it will bring you (and Adam)
joy, and finally, because of the many causes Adam represents for you. Also, on a selfish note, the playground won't be the same without you. Normally it is fun here, and it will be again. I want you all to stay.
(Okay, it always comes back to me.)

Im going to take my excess energy and/or angst and put it into supporting Adam and his causes, buying a peace pendant, giving articles that mention him hits, planning a private
one-off concert, LOL... Something that keeps me being in an active and engaged mode
rather than in a sitting around and waiting mode. After all, that is what Adam learned at BM the first time. Go after what you want, and I want to see Adam still having a fan
base that people can't ignore when he puts out those singles and albums, no matter when they come out. And, back to me again, I need you to be part of my loyal, active fan base dream for him, lol. When we are all together, we gear each other up to more collective action for Adam when opportunities arise, and they will. I want to be here to know how I can help. And again, I want you to be here too!

Seriously, corny as it may be, I think Adam needs his hard core fans now more than ever to just keep coming around.

I really, really don't want to let him down. He has had to fight hard, and it is always
easier to keep fighting when you feel others love you and have your back.

Is this in this month's Cosmo? Does anybody have the magazine? By the way this Girl is giggling I'm going to assume they don't like Adam's fringed poncho.

Whenever we have these stressful stanning times, I often read posts more carefully than usual. I always feel that I get a good lesson in human nature. It's not even about Adam. There are people who form theories of gloom and doom, there are people who want to go away until things become all rainbows and butterflies, and there are people in the middle who are going "uh, what's the big deal?" I am reminded that not everyone thinks the way I do. And this is always a good thing for me.

I'm somewhere between "uh" and the rainbow. I tend to look at things with a positive light. I don't require evidence to assume things are going well; however, usually do need evidence to show me things are not going well. I have always assumed that this is rooted in my very healthy sense of self-esteem, which can be blamed on my parents (probably I'm just delusional ;D ;D). But it works for me, and I have had a pretty decent life.

I also remind myself at these times that I need to be careful not to become so personally invested in this fandom that the drama stays with me when I'm not logged on. That, to me, is a sign that my life is out of whack bit (well it actually has been for 2 1/2 years--I've just learned to work around it). :D :D I mean, really, I have to be a bit off balance to spend this much time here. (This is the delusional part of me.)

WARNING: POSITIVE THOUGHTS FOLLOW. SCROLL IF YOU WISH.

Regarding the release time-frames. Although it is disappointing because I want new music, I think there are a number of positives.

1. The oft-mentioned time needed for the single to gain momentum is made easier.

2. If the record company needs a delay to handle the release properly, then yay. Also, I can't see any reason why they would be "toying" with Adam. That is not their history with him. He has loyal fans, and RCA/Sony has released interim recordings/DVD to appease us. Why would they want to screw him over? He is their "product" and they want him to succeed and make money. (Okay, there is a negative. If they DID send him back to revise/rewrite because they weren't happy with enough of the songs, that is sad for Adam in the short term. But, his continued work would probably improve the music. We know he is a quick learner and this is his first time writing music at this level.)

3. If his new management wants more time for a proper, more effective roll out, then, again, fabulous! I'm all for it.

4. If Adam needs more time, then double fabulosity! We know the quality of his work, especially when he has lived with songs for a while. Even if he doesn't need more time and is feeling that he is being delayed for corporate reasons, he will make good use of the extra time by tweaking, etc. I like that.

Well, probably no one read all that. I'm not usually this verbose. But as others have said, one reason for these boards is to unload and process. So I did. Now back to getting my own work done. Gotta face a pack of 8th graders tomorrow. Toodles.
