One further thought - one of the reasons that I became so invested in the man is because I hate injustice of any kind....and it seemed to me that Adam not making it in this business would be just that -complete injustice. I think perhaps others feel this way, and recent events raise the specter once again of his road being harder than for others....and it upsets people. I know I will feel the field is leveled in some important way if this second album is a success, or even if there is a hit single. So I understand the emotions. Of course, I could be full of it and we all just WANT NEW MUSIC!!! I completely agree with this. Also, while my support for Adam will not change because I am a pretty involved fan, I understand while some people's support is wavering right now. Like it or not, we are conditioned to like, follow, obsess about what is socially desirable. Once an artist becomes not as "hot" he can lose followers in a snowballing effect precisely because he/she is not cool anymore, he's not watercooler conversation, it becomes uncool to be associated with the name of a "has been." There will always be pockets of people who follow a certain artist, but the mainstream has a sheep mentality that manifests itself both in liking something/someone, and in dropping something/someone.

Agreed mys*&@^#r....I actually just pm'd someone from the board because I did not feel like being blasted with some version of how 'better' a fan some are than those nefarious downers...this not a competition for fan goddessness nor is it about a dimunition of love and respect for Adam. it is about this constant shifting of the carrot...the incessant moving of the date forward and forward with no stated reasoning. I equated it yesterday to being in labour and the doctor constantly telling you 'one more push'. It is not the labour or the baby that is frustrating....it is the doctor continuously not being straight up with you...as if you are not capable of understnding or accepting the truth. What happens is tht eventually you reaiize you are not being told the whole story but you have no way to know what to expect. If every date we are given just comes and goes but the messge stays the same, pretty soon you just don't know what to believe. I would definitely not 'count' on an October single now....and my elderly heart cannot manage getting all invested in something that may well not happen, and that i will never be given a reason for....hence the 'whatever'.
I will be fan and wait eagerly. But the bloom is, for now, just a wee bit off the rose. I expect it will come back....and the rose is still lovely...

My two cents....... It’s pretty scary how ‘instant gratification needy’ society has become. If something aches….. Take a pill. If you don’t like to look at it in the mirror…. Have it surgically removed. If you view it as obsolete…. Throw it away. If the wait is longer than anticipated…. I chose to live a ‘slow’ life a few years ago. It is the best decision I have ever made. So maybe Adam will miss out on those last minute holiday purchases. Maybe he won’t sell close to his opening week sales of FYE. But maybe, just maybe….. with a strong first single and/or second, he will have people other than us anticipating the release of his album. Because really, when it comes to an Idol alums second album, we aren’t what really matters. It’s the non-invested that will make or break this album. And come what may, Adam will be fine. Really, he will.

*type, delete, type, delete* ...ah screw it Maybe you guys will let me rejoin the "good fan" club when the next single comes out and I can demonstrate suitable enthusiasm. Shall we wear the 'cone of shame'??? All I know, is I have no desire to feel 'squicky', so I'll find the beat I dance best to. Gotta song in mind? ;D

I can't site specific examples, but it seems to me that I am often reading about this performer's or that performer's album being delayed. I don't think Adam is being singled out here--especially since we never had a definite date to begin with.

Yesterday, I couldn't play. So many changes in release dates have come and gone and it got to me. Plain and simple. I ask all opinions be respected. I am tired today too. Today is what I have and let me see what I can make of it. Adam's music will come when it comes. I'm not angsting about it anymore. Nor am I hanging on every word in anticipation. I am not attached to a certain outcome now. Yeah this is me too, right now. Sorry for making this thread all doom and gloomy. Just, eh....

Looking at the bright side....
Since Adam said he has 30 or so songs written, maybe, just maybe, he'll get Album #3 out within a year of #2.
(Uh, oh, is that another dangling carrot?)

There will always be pockets of people who follow a certain artist, but the mainstream has a sheep mentality that manifests itself both in liking something/someone, and in dropping something/someone. You are 100% right! That is one of the explanations for the high divorce rate (too much work or patience involved,) the short shelf life of most entertainers, and the success of ONE HIT WONDERS on whoever has it, MTV or VH1. I used to explain to my kids that the happily ever after in fairy tales only came with a lot of work and perseverance. Just as Adam said after the AMAs, more or less, certain occurrences separate those who are in for the long haul and those who aren’t. Is is every fan’s option to move on to the next big thing, but what they will find out sooner rather than later is that there will always be something that happens professionally or personally that disappoints them. That’s why I always thought Jesus felt pretty confident saying, “He who is without sin...” as well as the timelessness of the bumper sticker SHIT HAPPENS.

I am dissappointed to wait so long for the next album but I would never take this out on Adam. I know he is doing his best and working with RCA and the new management to make sure he has the best possible PR when the first single drops. We can see he is still working on the album and being creative as Adam is this takes time to get it just right for himself and us. I am not feeling sad though so much in RL to be positive about and Adam would not want us to be sad but very happy he had this great oppurtunity to work with great people.
