I don't agree with the "have to sing, play instrument(s) and write your own songs" in order to be a "legend". Adam is a world class singer, whether he plays an instrument or not, and whether he writes his own music or not. There are plenty of amazing singers who never write their own songs. I've never agreed with the concept that every singer should be writing his/her own songs. who is a legend and never wrote his own songs? You could be a legend without great voice but you have to have a great songs. I love Adam's voice, he deserves better and imo he doesn't have great song. Prove me wrong Celine Dion, Whitney Houston I actually wouldn't mind one bit if Adam used more songwriters as they did. If they are great songs. Kelly Clarkson had much success this way as well. She wrote a few of her songs, but mostly not.

Not true in any way, you don't appear to know much about composing music and how would you know if it was only on paper? What difference would that make anyway, Adam's a collaborator, he works best with a group of people. The way he chooses to create music is his business, so long as it works for him that's all that matters. The way many pop songs are written these days is by committee, on an assembly line. There has been a lot written about the process. I am not a fan of the result. I was talking about that with my musician sister and my family. To illustrate what I meant, I asked my sister to play a four chord sequence on the piano. Then, I just sang notes to go with the chords, inventing a "melody line" without thinking. Easy-peasy, and not really creative at all. (I know I am not a composer!) Adam has discussed the process a couple of times, and it sounded like he worked similarly. Since he doesn't play an instrument, he cannot create the harmonic chord structure, but has to rely on someone else to lay down that foundation. He can improvise a melody line easily. He has a good ear for that. It is not composing as I know the concept, but it is what happens in pop today. Will it result in a song like Bo Rhap or WWTLF? Or As Long As You're Mine? Not in a million years. But, pop fans don't care. They like what they hear. There's also computer programs to create music on as well, there's plenty ways a creative person can find if they want to.

ok. He's the only one, but he played guitar and piano. Celine Dion - legend? But he didn't write any songs so the fact he played instruments is irrelevant to the point.

Somebody wrote here that's he should have a band, I agree with that. He could be more independent, now he has to wait for producers or composers. I'm not saying I'm right I'm only trying to understand why with an amazing voice he's still not so popular.

It is that he cannot be successful without being able to write music or play an instrument it is that it makes creating the music and executing his vision more difficult. Having a full tool box and complete skill set makes it much easier to create a masterpiece whether it be creating a song, a piece of furniture, or a painting. The more skills you possess the better your chances of a successful outcome.

I just think he should be a legend that's why I'm talking about it. In 20, 50 years from now nobody will know who Kelly Clarkson was. Cher - hard to say, probably the same situation
