Kittykay I have to, in good conscience, post so that you don't take all the heat for this feeling. After Adam's twitter rant, I contacted AO and requested they cancel my order for the live DVD, t-shirt and map. I informed them that I was tired of supporting an artist who regularly criticized the extreme fans on twitter and, proportionally spent very little time mentioning his extremely loyal, generous fanbase. This makes the whole fanbase look bad and then it gets posted on blogs where nonfans make fun of the entire fanbase. I suspect that most people who follow Adam on twitter are not fans and will tweet WHATEVER they feel like tweeting. Adam's yelling at them will be totally ineffective. Sorry, but Kittykay is not alone in her feelings. At least one other fan, who has spent tons of money on Adam and has donated to both his charities, feels the same. Wow. This stuns me. And to be honest, it sickens me. Adam puts out music, and if you like it, you should buy it. I recall an interview with Michael Jackson when he was still a teenager in which he related an encounter with a fan who told him something like, "I bought your music so you owe me!" and he responded, "You didn't buy my music to help me out. You bought it because you like it." Adam isn't asking for anyone's financial support. He just wants to make a living sharing his music. It's not welfare. He puts out a product, and if you like that product, you trade some money for it and take it home and enjoy it. Adam doesn't owe it to you to be the person you want him to be. You have a right to stop being a fan for whatever reason you choose, of course, but I really don't understand that attitude.

You cancelled your order and roundly criticized him to AO because of his tweet??? Touchy much??? Entitlement much???I can't even respond any further because I will surely be banned.

I'm hoping against hope that the delay in releasing "Aftermath" is because of a performance slot on Idol. However, I can't help but wonder if this remixed/redone/reconceptualized version of the song will be replicable on the live stage. The acoustic version? No brainer. Album version? No problem. But whatever this new version is? I've no idea. I wish I had a better idea of exactly what Adam & Co. have done with the song. The curiosity is killing me! Must admit I'm a tad worried about this. (*cue everyone here to tell me not to be ridiculous, Adam always comes through*) I keep trying to imagine the song as a pop, dance anthem....and fail miserably. Obviously I haven't the musicality of our dear boy....but Aftermath...dance'y?? Yikes. :-/ That said....I still want an AI performance!!! ;D

Part of what drew us all to Adam was he is different than other celebrities, therefore I have higher expectations of him. That may be my problem, not his. Higher than that of a imperfect human being? Adam is not perfect. He's human and gets irritated and pissy just like anyone else. The difference being he's got millions of people watching his every move and he's also got hundreds if not thousands of fans trying to get his attention every single day. Sometimes they try for that attention in assholish ways. That's not his fault and IMO he deasl with it the best way he knows how and is a lot more gracious than I would be (or any other celebrity that I've ever seen that's for sure). I certainly hope your daughter's friend showed a proper amount of appreciation for your efforts so as not to hurt your feelings. No one has any clue what Adam and his friends discuss in private and just because they don't tweet their opinions to him doesn't mean they aren't expressing them to him. Honestly, having been on the receiving end of the batshit, I'm inclined to think most of Adam's REAL LIFE friends give him a high five when he scolds his cray fans. Adam has the right to discuss what he wants, in whatever time frame he wants. The way I took the sequence of events was something along the lines of Tweet to tommy about sleeve, Tommy DMd him something like damn now they will think we're back together HAHA, Adam asked for explanation, Tommy provided one... Then the giving Tommy shit, it's his life, don't be negative and thank you for tuning in tweets. In an attempt to change the mood and topic he tweeted two fun pictues of himself with celebrities (one of which some "fans" were trying to malign with nasty rumors that she was mean to poor Adam)... after receiving an outpouring of support he wanted to let those sane/supportive fans know how much their continued love and support meant to him. I thought it was sincere and thoughtful. The thing I don't get is why, if you recognize that it could have just been your mindset (ie tired at end of long day), are you still pissed/hurt by it? This all happened days ago and yet here you are hurt and feeling unappreciated by something that honestly seems to have nothing to do with you personally.

I sometimes wonder how people in Adams fanbase would feel if he eventually gets tired of the whole twitter broadcast system, and decides to stop tweeting anything or better yet pull a Miley Cyrus and just cancel his twitter account. I sometimes feel that is what he should do...some people will find fault in whatever someone says!

Not going to try and argue anyone out of the way they feel, but my thought is that if you are feeling unappreciated as a fan then perhaps you are overinvested and should back away from fandom guilt-free. OVERINVESTED - yes, spindleshay this is exactly the word that comes to mind. Sometimes it helps to back away from something to get a fresh perspective. Feeling 'close' to Adam because you have invested so much time and money in stanning him and then being hurt because he doesn't seem to be reciprocating that, well, yeah I don't think that is realistic or healthy. I think fans are setting themselves up for continued disappointment if they are looking for pats on the back and spontaneous affirmations of love from any celebrity. I think Adam uses twitter quite effectively and has done so much good by using it as a platform for not only self promotion but to call attention to greater causes.

to Kittykay & Canadianfan I am sorry you are feeling a little put out lately but I hope you can step back for a moment and read the responses made and consider them. It seems your response to Adam's twitter rant is based on your own perception of what an appropriate reaction should have been and based on a lot of assumptions. You do not know the specifics of what was going on, and you shouldn't project what you would of done onto someone else. Adam is not you - don't expect him to behave the same way. Did he respond appropriately? Who knows, that is a matter of opinion. Will he always make the right choices? Highly unlikely - no one ever does! So who are we to judge.
As for the fugly shirts - if you don't like them, don't buy them. If you want to express your displeasure with them, email or post at ALF. I suspect Adam has very little/no involvement in ALF and doesn't even know the shirts exist.
YMMV
