I'm hoping against hope that the delay in releasing "Aftermath" is because of a performance slot on Idol. However, I can't help but wonder if this remixed/redone/reconceptualized version of the song will be replicable on the live stage. The acoustic version? No brainer. Album version? No problem. But whatever this new version is? I've no idea. I wish I had a better idea of exactly what Adam & Co. have done with the song. The curiosity is killing me! Must admit I'm a tad worried about this. (*cue everyone here to tell me not to be ridiculous, Adam always comes through*) I keep trying to imagine the song as a pop, dance anthem....and fail miserably. Obviously I haven't the musicality of our dear boy....but Aftermath...dance'y?? Yikes. :-/ That said....I still want an AI performance!!! ;D I too am having difficulty imagining Aftermath as anything other than what it has been, but after two years of the crazy ride that being an Adam fan is, I have to trust him. He's only made a couple of musical decisions that I'm not crazy about, but that's to be expected. ....and I want an AI performance too. I'm still tickled that the opening moments of AI10 include a pic of Adam among the past winners. (yes, I am watching. I like Steven Tyler) Totally appropriate.

Not going to try and argue anyone out of the way they feel, but my thought is that if you are feeling unappreciated as a fan then perhaps you are overinvested and should back away from fandom guilt-free. OVERINVESTED - yes, spindleshay this is exactly the word that comes to mind. Sometimes it helps to back away from something to get a fresh perspective. Feeling 'close' to Adam because you have invested so much time and money in stanning him and then being hurt because he doesn't seem to be reciprocating that, well, yeah I don't think that is realistic. im not going to put in my two cents in, but i am gonna say i agree with these two.

Wow if you truly feel that personally invested, I think you need to back away from Adam and the Internet. Kind of speechless at the level of personal entitlement (lack of a better word).
This is a man doing the best he can in a new world, technically as well. We are supposed to be his best support. He's not perfect but who'd want him if he was. So strange.

OK - guess real life isn't keeping me too focused as I'm back commenting again :D
This is sort of an add-on to my last one about the AFL fansite. I am fairly certain the GroundCrl is hired to run, maintain and administer the fansite. I suspect that part of the "deal" is that they are supposed to attempt to make it self supporting. Part of the reason they offer ANY merchandise on the site and charge for memberships is to pay for running the site. If they don't make it self-supporting, Adam and his advisors will have to look at the expense it is costing him and decide if it is worth it. GroundCtl would much rather be able to show them a ballanced budget and say - hey look, we bring in about the same as we spend so it really isn't costing you anything. So, yes, they are trying to make a profit from the stuff they sell. If they do not offer stuff the fans want and it doesn't sell, then they will offer different stuff.
The main item they have offered is the calendar - I thought the price was really high until I received it - it is a VERY high quality, large calendar. THe only similar calendar I have owned in recent years was a high-end Ansel Adams art calendar which cost around $20. That was a high-volume release, so it would have cost less to make than the ALF calendar which had a much smaller print run. When you are paying for high quality printing like that, your price per piece comes down the larger the run is - you'll pay a fortune to print 100 but the price gets reasonable if you are printing 10,000. Since GroundCtl needs to make money for the fan site AND it was such a high-end product the price didn't seem all that bad. (One assumes Lee Cherry was paid well for his photos also - weren't they selling photos at the concerts for something like $10 each? We got a dozen and they were bigger with the calendar.)

Kittykay I have to, in good conscience, post so that you don't take all the heat for this feeling. After Adam's twitter rant, I contacted AO and requested they cancel my order for the live DVD, t-shirt and map. I informed them that I was tired of supporting an artist who regularly criticized the extreme fans on twitter and, proportionally spent very little time mentioning his extremely loyal, generous fanbase. This makes the whole fanbase look bad and then it gets posted on blogs where nonfans make fun of the entire fanbase. I suspect that most people who follow Adam on twitter are not fans and will tweet WHATEVER they feel like tweeting. Adam's yelling at them will be totally ineffective. Sorry, but Kittykay is not alone in her feelings. At least one other fan, who has spent tons of money on Adam and has donated to both his charities, feels the same. Seriously? Whoa........sounds like it's not all about the music for you. Well, good luck to you. You might need it.

I sometimes wonder how people in Adams fanbase would feel if he eventually gets tired of the whole twitter broadcast system, and decides to stop tweeting anything or better yet pull a Miley Cyrus and just cancel his twitter account. I sometimes feel that is what he should do...some people will find fault in whatever someone says! It would just be sad if he took himself off twitter. How would I tell him I love him twice a week?

Snow day for me so am home and able to catch up a bit. Am going to try and get some RL stuff taken care of today but just want to say I believe FanofTheMan, thespindleshay, amw, and wonderstruck are pretty much right in their comments. It is Adam's life; we are not entitled; get over it; or take a break and reflect why you feel the way you do. The decision is ours to sign up for the fandom, Adam did not ask or make promises to anyone. He routinely thanks his fans and for those of us that have had the opportunity to attend a show in person, you know he wants to entertain us and always says Thank You!
