Adam being the executive producer is great news! I am very impressed that he managed to negotiate that with his label, they must really trust his creative vision. In response to the question who is else is doing it: I am not familiar with all artists obv, but I know that Pink also exec produces her albums (or at least she did Funhouse, and I think I'm not dead as well) It is great news! Our BB is growing up. Honestly, I sometimes worry when I hear him talk about going in a certain direction I don't think I'll like or doesn't make sense to me but hearing this makes me so proud that he's just going for it. And lol to whoever laughed about it not being about him being in change. He's stretching his wings putting himself out there with everything he's got and isn't that a big part of why we fell for him in the first place? So in unlikely event that this album doesn't work out or just that I don't love, this new development for some reason makes these scenarios OK. Whatever happens, it will be his baby and you know he'll keep keep growing and bring us whatever is in his heart for years to come. For some reason this new step made me think of Adam's dad wrote following the AMA's. "Yes, our Icarus may have gotten a little toasty last night, but his willingness to leap toward the sun is what thrills us about him. Chill, hand-wringers. Our boy is gluing those glittery feathers on even more tightly, getting ready for that next bold leap." He was right, look at him now.

I love his expressive hands :D LOL, Someone needs to put some dialogue to these. Maybe he's talking about the raccoons swimming in his pool. And Gelly I love your new tag/signature. I always thought Adam had a shamanistic quality to him at times when he performs and I've always had a thing about the moon and it's related mythologies so it was fun to hear him say that.

Executive producer: In the music industry, the executive producer of an album is often in control of the business side of production, distribution, and promotion, but more often than not, is in charge of the entire project as is a director. They decide what the albums themes will be, create the image for the artist, decide which songs will be singles, and have the final say on every single song’s completion. It is the executive producer who makes the decision as to when the song is finished and ready to be shown to the public. In some instances, an executive producer can be a person who “discovered” a particular act, or someone who represents an act, either as an agent or a lawyer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_producerWow, bringing over from MJ's a discription of what an Executive Producer is/does concerning an album. I'm not sure Adam is doing all of that, but wow.! I wonder if he actually means co-Executive Producer? Perhaps in control of the music side but I have trouble believing that he will have time for the business side of it all. (Or have the business experience to handle it.) Great learning experience for him, for sure!!!

Just a warning to anyone who records Project Runway for the first time tonight. I am a regular project runway fan and it always runs over about 2-3 minutes. Even though my DVR is supposed to catch this sort of stuff, it doesn't. I finally just extended my runtime in order to catch the end of the show.
Hi to Everyone. Haven't been posting, but I have been here. I always hung around the numbers thread, so hopefully I will be posting more soon.
Enjoy the show tonight, two of my favorite things combined. So happy. ;D ;D ;D ;D

In my mind the decision to make him Exec. Producer is indicative of quite a few things:
a) he de facto had such a role (or a subset of the role) on the first album, which obviously is completely unusual for either a new artist and/or especially an AI. Giving him officially producer status on the next album was a logical step for album2 and he had the credibility to negotiate for that.
b) upping that to Exec. Producer status shows a couple of things: Adam is (if he himself wants it) on a management/leadership fast track within RCA's A&R division, at least he is positioned to be there. They know what they have in him. People like Adam don't walk through your door every day. Even the chaos in the ranks cannot overshadow that fact. And if anything, the present situation is an indication of lack of leadership more than anything else.
Furthermore, the Exec. Producer status allows Adam to get insight into the complete record producing process, including planning stages, financial decisions, promotion plans. Even if he is not in charge of all these and has a co-exec. Producer status because he is learning, he will get all the paperwork, emails, reports, etc. floating across his desk and that is a lot to learn and take in, especially the first time around. The biggest decision was probably not so much whether Adam was ready for a Exec. Producer role, but rather how much that would distract him from the actual album creation. The fact that they rather gave him that role than materialize on the album quickly, is in my opinion very telling.
To what extent Adam actually wants to eventually step into this role beyond his own personal career and play that role for other artists, I have no idea, that is a whole other question. The present chaos at RCA worries me less regarding this. He is presently only involved with this one album and can stay out of the line of any fire, even when it spills over into the somewhat lower ranks, as it obviously always does, when there is major movement at the top. Should not effect him much, except that in chaos there is always opportunity. One of those opportunities is that you can network outside of official linear paths and Adam is brilliant at that.
Imo this has nothing to do with money (that is a nice side effect). Adam does this because he contrary to what he says truly wants to have the control and responsibility and he also deserves it.
