Adam being the executive producer is great news! I am very impressed that he managed to negotiate that with his label, they must really trust his creative vision. In response to the question who is else is doing it: I am not familiar with all artists obv, but I know that Pink also exec produces her albums (or at least she did Funhouse, and I think I'm not dead as well) Bringing over from MJ"s some of the ones that are executive Producers of their own albums. Let me check some CDs I recently bought: Katy Perry – Teenage Dream – Dr Luke and Max Martin Britney Spears – Femme Fatale – Dr Luke and Max Martin Lady Gaga – The Fame Monster and Born This Way – Vincent Herbert Eminem – Recovery – Dr Dre Beyonce – 4 – Beyonce KnowlesKe$ha – Animal+Cannibal – Dr Luke Rihanna – Loud – Rihanna and Antonio “LA” Reid (X Factor Judge)Jennifer Lopez – Love? – Antonio “LA” Reid

Just yesterday I was listening to some old interviews where Adam is talking about the sounds of music today and I was impressed with his level of sophistication and knowledge about what goes into the making of the music. I thought, "I can see Adam becoming a producer himself, with his knowledge of vocals, presentation, with his ear, and with his extensive knowledge of what goes into making a sound." Then, we get this interview today where he reveals that he is the executive producer!!! Damn! I'm smart. Or prescient. Or full of BS. Haha!! *raises hand* me too. I've asked him in past Twitter parties if he would be producing on this album (no answer, ofc) and if he saw himself producing other artists in the future. AWESOME INTERVIEW and OMGOMGOMGOMG He looks beyond gorgeous!!!! And yes, The Onion is a satire site, stardust. and me too for example (to talk about only one of the many things involved), take this comping procedure (by the way thank you for the link you posted susiefierce). If the musician who does the comping is working for a mediocre singer he has to do a different level job. For example choosing the better pitch at a certain note. If the singer records 15 mediocre takes of a phrase and approaches the desirable pitch in one or two of them, the decision (what take do I choose) is easy. But in Adam's case? How to choose from 15 excellent recordings of a phrase? How to choose from a musical and not technical point of view? Could become seeing the tree and missing the forest. The comping musician has to be an excellent musician himself, who appreciates and respects and "gets" Adam, who is "at the same frequency" as Adam musicaly. But still, he/she is not Adam. Adam is the one who SHOULD have the last word.
