Wow, some of the comments from yesterday's thread really got me thinking: if you are not interested, just scroll.
I am actually really happy that Adam Lambert is not the kind of person who is so insecure that he'd seize somebody else's moment or use his friends and coworkers to try and get more likes or views or attention. I think people should not forget that the real world is more about maintaining relationships with people than about doing everything and anything to constantly have your life in the public eye. In this age of kardashians, I guess it's easy to be misled and think that having that kind of life equals being successful, but I've got the feeling Adam Lambert knows how empty that is. Why should he not just be happy and congratulate his friends on their success, without expecting anything back? Some comments I read on this board seemed to suggest that May, Taylor, Malek should have somehow included Adam in the whole Golden Globes thing, which really makes no sense to me - and not because I don't think that Adam fills a huge role in the Queen family, but because I doubt Adam would even WANT to seek attention in such a desperate manner. His accomplishments speak and will speak for themselves. No need to push himself into other people's success, even if he is connected to them. No need and no point - because I doubt it would be the thing that would increase his happiness.
For that same reason I also understand why he wouldn't want to put his relationships on display to be dissected by every single fan or non-fan out there who has access to internet. There is such a thing as just enjoying private moments, with your family, partners, friends, coworkers. Sure, he's gonna post little tidbits from his personal life, too, why shouldn't he?, but I think by now people should stop expecting him to open up his entire life to the public. I'm glad he's not a kardashian. He doesn't need to be. He has already gotten a lot of attention for all that he is (singer, performer, entertainer, etc.) and he will continue to get attention for the right reasons, I'm sure. The fans are sometimes projecting so much of their own desires that they seem to forget Adam knows who he is and what his goals are. For me, it's nice to see that he is supportive of the people around him and they of him, but these are all real people who have their own lives, rich, complex, and, most importantly: their own. Their lives do not belong to the public just because they happen to be famous (or connected to famous people).
Questions such as: why doesn't the current drummer flail about Adam when Rufus did are absolutely ridiculous to me. We don't know all the factors involved in people's lives and relationships. You know, people don't really have to express themselves in the same manner or wish to express their thoughts and emotions on everything. Also, sometimes we all feel a certain way, but we don't express it, or say the wrong thing. These are people, not robots. Or clones of each other. Maybe Rufus and Adam's friendship was more publicly displayed when they toured together, but that also may not mean that they shared the most intimate details of each other's lives with each other. Having fun together is what friends do, sure. And there are other kinds of friends: the kind you're gonna call when something bad happens and you need their help. There are friends you just talk to at work. It doesn't mean you wouldn't ever want to hang out with them outside of work, but maybe they live on the other side of town from you, or they want to meet up early in the morning while you'd rather go somewhere in the afternoon. These are such small things, but this is what we're talking about here. So, the drummer is friends with Marc - well, maybe he doesn't want to flail about another singer because he wouldn't want to jeopardize his friendship with him? Or, maybe he's not a flailer? Maybe he isn't interested in what is "expected" of him by some fans? I really think I made my point here...
Anyway, opinion over. If you think I've called you out, sorry, I don't even remember who posted what in yesterday's thread. I just read the whole thing and this was my general summary of what I came away with. It is in no way an attack on anybody here, their opinions or interests. Everybody here has the right to talk about all aspects of Adam Lambert's life and career (respectfully and without trolling), but this was just my 2 cents.
Carry on. P.S. And slightly OT.
I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know if the wins were deserved or not - that whole discussion is always subjective, I feel, but I am happy for them. However, in the TV category, I'm really, really happy that The Americans finally won for best drama, it was a truly remarkable series. I'm just sorry the two leads in that show: Matthew Rhys and Keri Russel didn't win for their outstanding performances, because their acting truly elevated the show beyond just great. If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend it. The Americans is (in my opinion) the best drama of this century. I read reviews which say that it and the Sopranos are the best of the golden age of television. I haven't really watched the Sopranos, so I couldn't say anything about that, but I am a huge fan of The Americans and the two main actors. I think Matthew Rhys won an Emmy for it, and Keri should have won too, but, never mind. She still gave incredible performances each and every episode. This was one of those rare shows that started strong, kept on getting stronger and finished on a really strong note. 6 seasons of masterful storytelling, acting, and directing.
