Okay. Now I'm pissed. One quick kiss when they're getting ready to take off and some holy roller (probably) complains and the couple is reprimanded??! The complainer(s) should have been told that nothing offensive was going on!!  Now I'm even more confused about who the girlfriend is. This is the press release and it says Cam. ??? |

Now I'm TOTALLY confused lol. I was sure as nonotme said that Leisha Hailey's girlfriend is Nina Garduno. Now from this statement it seems that Cam and Leisha are girlfriends?  |

ETA: It just occurred to me that we can only see the sides; wonder what the back looks like! Yikes!!

I know it sometimes seems like no progress is being made - but slowly, but surely, it IS happening. I regularly discuss politics/issues with my father. It is a family tradition! We work together in the family company, so we see each other 5 days per week. My father is a pretty traditional Republican - strongly fiscal conservative and at 71 he is somewhat typical of his generation on social issues. We have been arguing marriage equality for a very long time. Last week, he suddenly announced that although it is hard to admit, he has changed his mind and believes that marriage equality should be guanteed at the federal level. I thought my chin was going to hit the floor! He may be only 1 person, but it is still proof that progress is being made. This discussion is interesting. I too discuss politics as a matter of course with my father, who is 84, and it's often very interesting. My dad is also pretty typical of his generation on social issues, maybe a little more progressive than some. He expresses this in his own very politically incorrect way ... "If a guy wants to be a fairy, be a fairy! What the hell do I care?" We had a very good discussion the other day about the end of DADT. At the retirement complex where my dad lives, there is a weekly men's meeting where the guys discuss whatever they like. The usual topics are "How I Won The War" and current events. Recently, a retired naval officer went off on a big rant about the end of DADT. He claimed that the showers would be full of men sodomizing one another and that military discipline would break down completely. Only my dad and one other guy had been enlisted men in the war. The rest had been officers. My dad realized for the first time, and spoke up, that the anti-gay prejudice was class-based. This guy was obviously convinced, without examining his prejudices, that the men in the enlisted ranks were little better than animals and that the way they lived was similar to that of men in prison! Of course it is nothing of the kind! It made me wonder how much anti-gay prejudice might actually be strongly linked with class prejudice ... with the unexamined belief that there is this underclass out there that needs to be reined in at all times. |
