Wow, the reaction to Adam's tweets was one of the most amazing things I've seen. First Adam tweeted the photo, and people were flailing and UNFing and ~commenting on the hair. Then he tweeted the question about our insecurities, and there was a bit of a pause, and then his @ replies absolutely exploded. I swear they were going by so fast on Tweetdeck it was impossible to read. All you could do was catch a word or phrase here and there: fat, alone, scared, being judged, feeling dumb... etc etc etc. An outpouring of vulnerability and pain. And then he tweeted about people all having the same hangups, and after a little while a lot of the tweets shifted to people thanking him and expressing love. And I saw lots of tweets where people were giving each other "hugs" and support and love as they read other people's confessions. Now after his last tweet it's an outpouring of love towards Adam. (And lots of tweets from people who say they have the same issues.) I feel like I witnessed some kind of living-art/therapy session/flashmob/social experiment. Very, very cool. Adam has a lot of power-- I kind of feel like we're only seeing the very beginnings of what he is capable of. NoAngel, I really loved this post. (And I see now that Q3 posted it on the first page of the next thread!) I'm not on Twitter, so I'm reading about all of this second hand. But your view of what happened is pretty amazing, and I love your description of the event as "living-art/therapy session/flashmob/social experiment." And also agree with your conclusion regarding his power and abilities. It's a pretty interesting thing to witness. I feel like I'm a little bit on the outside, not being on twitter, being somewhat adverse to the idea of completely aligning myself with what sometimes feels like the fandom group-mind, but at the same time I participate and am affected in my own way. And I believe! I believe in Adam as someone unique and game-changing, although I am very reluctant to predict how that power will manifest and what changes his charisma and talent will actually bring about. But I remain fascinated, although periodically attempting to step away and into my own real life. I haven't had a chance to read through everything, but I have a sense that Adam WAS possibly having a moment of insecurity when he began that exchange. But it really seems to have been a perfect example of the meaning behind his infinity tatoo. He reached out, possibly for support, possibly for curiosity's sake, but in doing so he nurtured the connection he has with his fans, and he gave of himself while receiving back so much more. I sometimes find it strange, the familiarity so many fans seem to feel, but then I think maybe I'm missing something. (yeah, I'm missing twitter, haha) At the same time, NoAngel, I also really appreciated your other post in which you talked about the way we all project so much of our own insecurities, hopes, motivations, and feelings onto Adam, when we really don't know as much as we sometimes think about Adam's private life and feelings. We make assumptions, we make educated guesses, and we imagine. It SEEMS like we know him, but we don't, really. To me, his tweet about insecurities seemed to make him more real to me. I know he has said in at least one interview (or twitter party?) that he feels some doubt every day (or at least he DID...). I thought of that with today's tweets. And I imagine something about him (that he TOO feels insecure) that makes it easier for me to relate to him. But I could totally be projecting, and he could just be flexing his *Infinity* power muscle! I'm so late with this post I should probably put it in the next thread... ETA: Adam TOTALLY looks better to me than Heidi!

For what it's worth, this is my take on Adam and insecurity/confidence. And this is based on things he has said and done, and the way he appears to me. And I could totally be projecting/wrong.
But I think the confidence and the insecurity are not unrelated. Although I personally think Adam has many, many reasons to feel supremely confident, I don't think this is necessarily something that has come easily to him. I think he has worked for that confidence. And he has worked on the DGAF attitude. I think he works on it everyday. That's called courage. I also think it's incredible how he completely owns everything he does and takes full responsibility for it without beating himself up. This is something he probably internalized at a young age, although who knows. Maybe he wants to crawl into a hole sometimes, but he has definitely learned not to show it, and maybe he's learned to tell that feeling to GTFO. He is so completely devoted to the idea of everyone's shared humanity, and I think that allows him to be generous with both his own faults and with others.
Hmm, I think perhaps I'm babbling now, and I'm not entirely sure that I know what I'm saying, lol. So...good night!

What the heck does he mean by "Fishy"? Is this some kind of code or UD thing? I gotta know!!! Sauli was right by Adam last night when this picture was taken. Somehow I imagined Adam a little more possessive of his relationship. If that was my lover and he/she crotched it up with someone for a picture, I would be real uncomfortable. Fishy definition: In the gay world, more specifically amongst homosexuals, to act or be fishy is to act or be feminine. Also in the tranny world, to be fishy means to excel at being a woman, without much effort. Fishy is an adjective from the noun fish. #1 - Girl, I didn't even recognize Jacob, he looked so fishy, who did his make-up? #2 - Look at Matt trying to be all fishy with those fake eyelashes!! I believe he was saying that about Jonte who dances in high heels and probably had them on then. It appears to me that he was sitting and Adam standing in front of him talking before the pic was taken. Notice they didn't even have their arms around each other. I think Adam wouldn't do anything to piss Sauli off because he loves him so.

Oh, that's right! I totally forgot she was married to Seal. I always thought Seal was an exceptional beautiful man. He and Adam have something else in common too. 8-) If Seal and Heidi Klum's children ever ask about how their parents fell in love, the couple may have to make something up. "I met him in a hotel lobby in New York City and he came in just from the gym and I was sitting there and I was, like, wow," Klum tells Oprah Winfrey on her show's Superstar Couples episode set to air Thursday.
Wow, as in Seal was wearing bicycle shorts.
"And I pretty much saw everything," says Klum. "The whole package." I thought I'd finish the thread before posting (I always do) and I was right someone else did it for me. jamie This interview of Heidi was the first that came to my mind, so I thought when Heidi said that Adam looked beautiful she really meant it. :D Heidi specifically said when she first saw Seal "DAYYYM"!!!!!! :D And I agree Seal is a gorgeous man!!! Not to mention his clothing style, after Adam the best out there!! 8-)

Just can't get past the feeling that the term is blatantly misogynistic even though I don't think Adam considers/intends it to be so. (Tommy's tweet that someone should be "burned like a witch" didn't sit well with me either.) Homophobia should be condemned, but so should misogyny. YMMV of course. To be more positive, I like the bronze peace symbol pendant much more than I expected, it's really very nice!

I agree about this not being related to the Heidi video blog -- that was filmed a lifetime ago. The thinking about his skin question may be part of what triggered this. It looks better but the scarring is so significant that it is not a simple matter to remove them. Personally, I think he is beautiful just the way he is. Heidi's husband,Seal has the worst skin of anyone I have seen.. Looks like burns and big scars and Heidi loves him ,married him and has kids by him. I love Seal's voice ,but do think of a kind of beauty and the beast when I see them together. I have read about what a fantastic man seal is .. So it's truly only skin deep. I would have thought that Heidi could have been a bit more sensitive with Adam on his makeup. She annoyed me. BTW DH home from the hospital.. Now the work begins...LOL

melliemom, I am happy to hear your DH is home from the hospital. I hope for his sake that he recovers completely and for your sake that he is a good recuperative patient. Stop by here for support and laughs (although the last couple of days have been a little too intense).
