This will be an unpopular statement, but I don't believe Adam is wiser than most people because he has made some serious blunders, such as the AMA's. I think Adam just has balls of steel and doesn't give a fuck what people think. Sending that picture out on twitter is saying he's still going to let his freak flag fly and to hell with what anyone thinks about it. The only reason Adam is getting away with it is because he has an incredible voice and is gorgeous. Let's face it, we are a shallow lot and it took someone with a lot of attributes to break down the barriers most of us have for people who are different from us. Anyone else would not have gotten as far as he has, but on the flip side that bravery has held him back and will continue to do so. He's the first to start his career openly gay, but on top of that he pushes buttons and sometimes tries to do to much too soon, like the AMA's. Adam isn't perfect and isn't the wisest out there, but he is very intelligent and talented and I have no doubt that he will continue to break down barriers in the future even if pictures like he tweeted take him two steps back temporarily. ;D yet again - my Pavlovian response - the AMAs was a strike of genius! Made him into an international star! IMO - by tweeting the beautiful picture he was sharing with us the simple message that he was at the club and having fun and - THE MOST IMPORTANT fact (joking) that he got a new hair arrangement... it is just one of the hundreds of club pictures we've seen and will see in the future... it is just HIM - freak flag or not. For him - it is his life for the last 10 years... and boy - both Adam and his friend are gorgeous!

ETA- I went to my first gay club in NYC last year. My friends took lots of picture of me dancing (inappropiratly)with lots of cuties... now if my DH saw those picutes, I would have to do some explaining. But he trusts me and just because I was dancing etc..I was not planning on going home with them. Its just having fun. Its just a picture.

I want to thank the person who originally posted this. It is a lovely poem about last night. I won't bring it over because it belongs to the writer and it seems wrong somehow, but I encourage you to check it out. We Are Not Alone asashesscatter.com/2011/09/27/we-are-not-alone/

I just listened to a short interview with Chris Daughtry on Ryan Seacrest this morning. One part I found very interesting, as it relates to Adam was, he said he took 4 months off completely... did not even pick up his guitar... just hung out with his family. He had never done that before. When he finally picked up his guitar with the intent of writing again, he felt completely renewed and wanted to go in a different direction with his songs, mostly lyrics. He felt that interval had broken a pattern of just "recycling his old music." This part if his interview made me feel good about the amount of time Adam is spending. It might also explain how he went from saying, "More songs like WWFM," to these most recent collaborators we've heard about (Pharrell and Rico.). Was the "more WWFM" just him recycling his old music? And somewhere along the way, during his non recording, non-writing break (say January to March) did he feel he needed to do something different? YES to this. Totally- really good point. And beyond that, I felt that there was a huge transition that had taken place between the Moscow concert and Ste. Agathe. In Moscow he owned his stage and his material in a this-is-my-domain-that-I-have-created kind of way. The whole experience required so much of a “Force-field Up” attitude from Adam. No way he was not aware of the snickering police men behind his back, the fact that this radio person could not even interview him properly because he was so uncomfortable, etc. But anyhow, in Moscow Adam lived inside of the material he was singing, he owned it. By the time Ste. Agathe came around, the situation was different. He was in comfortable surroundings and relaxed and somehow he seemed to have to recall back his old material. To me he seemed to have moved on even before he sang OOL. He just had to connect back to the past to bring his old material to life one more time and put his soul into it. It was not naturally there anymore. And of course he was brilliant on stage, but somehow in a different kind of way. Creatively, I think, between the two concerts he had finally moved on. But truth be told that was a long time after he had finished with GNT. He had been on a whirl-wind run for 2 years and probably his soul first had to catch up and you cannot do that by just taking a few weeks off and hope is good and well and you can move on with your creativity restored. I remember some time in April he wrote about some star alignment that meant a less creative phase, I have forgotten the details. I think he was struggling to find his way for a while and probably was at times frustrated about that. But by the time July came around, he had changed and a self-assurance was visible that meant he had found his new path and was back in charge.

Do you know how many rock stars I have seen come and go and come back again. Apparently, you don't see the potential I see in Adam. Already he has changed the world to some extent. I don't want him to change his character, his personality or his beliefs. I just want to be there when he grows into his adult life. I think he has he potential to change attitudes in this country and change those sterotypes of the community that he loves. I want him to appeal to all people everywhere. I hate the horrible comments I hear from people who have no idea what the LGBT community is about. There are people out there in this country who have never had a friendship with a gay person. I want that to change. The more accurate role models we have from the LGBT community, the quicker the laws will change. I guess I am putting too much on Adam. But I see him as that man who is intelligent and articulate enough to change people's minds about stereotypes. I'm afraid I don't understand this at all. Adam IS an accurate role model. He is authentic and true to himself. Adam is currently the person he always has been. He is an adult, he has been one since he left college and started providing for himself at the age of 19. Adam doesn't need to grow up. If you ask me, many who are much older in years, could look to Adam to learn a few things. Potential? I'm confused again? Are you saying that Adam has the "potential" to grow into a more conservative gay? Or that he could change the world if he was more like Neil Patrick Harris? And in some countries, members of their communities don't think twice about issues such as gay marriage and gay rights. America is behind on this, we are not leading the way. Adam isn't here to change us all! Wow- that sure is putting an awful lot of pressure on Adam. He will never change the mind of delusional bigots, such as those from the Westboro church. But he isn't. Sauli was there. Adam went home with Sauli. Sauli is the ONLY person who has to be "okay" with this picture!
