I want to add that I'm far less inclined to forgive someone who did something evil, like Michael Vick, than someone who said something evil. Obviously I don't like either alternative, but words can be taken back in a way that actions cannot. Even if I were a football fan, I could never overlook what Vick did because the suffering those dogs endured cannot be erased. When it comes to opinions, though, it's harder to draw a line between what I can and cannot get past. Freedom of speech has to include the freedom to be an asshole or it really isn't freedom. Very wise words, Murly - as usual. Well, the topic isn't going away. IDK...IDK!!! I'm torn on this. Hate speech can sometimes escalate anger, which can turn into actions. I'm just thinking about how I feel about these bullies: www.towleroad.com/2011/09/jrm.html#.ToINAkZL6tY.twitterThe mother of gay teen Jamey Rodemeyer, who committed suicide recently after years of bullying, says that the jeering from some of his anti-gay schoolmates has continued after his death: At a homecoming dance she (Jamey's sister) attended shortly after her brother’s death, a potentially poignant moment turned ugly after a song by Lady Gaga, Jamey’s favorite artist, who recently dedicated a song at a concert in his memory. “She was having a great time, and all of a sudden a Lady Gaga song came on, and they all started chanting for Jamey, all of his friends,’’ Jamey’s mother, Tracy, told Curry. “Then the bullies that put him into this situation started chanting, ‘You’re better off dead!’ and ‘We’re glad you’re dead!’ and things like that.“My daughter came home all upset. It was supposed to be a time for her to grieve and have fun with her friends, and it turned into bullying even after he’s gone.’’ Read more: www.towleroad.com/2011/09/jrm.html#ixzz1ZBIwHVfw

I will confess to not being knowledgeable about Rosh Hashanah and so I hope this is not offensive and I didn't realize it. I thought it was fun. It's great fun! I wanted to tell you earlier, but I didn't... :-[

Do we need the kitty and doggy gifs?? Not for me, but I love them. I just wanted an honest discussion. My shopping habits are the same as most others. I haven't boycotted anything. Oh, does ABC count here?

reihmer: I know. My heart breaks for what this sweet young boy had to go through in his short life, and it continues to break for the family he left behind. It's the unprotected, unsupported or the young that feel the brunt of discrimination.
