I learned something important about forgiveness from a very wise woman, Oprah Winfrey. To forgive doesn't mean I have to forget, doesn't mean I now have to be bff's, or even do anything with the one I forgive. Forgiveness means I stop feeling angry or resentful about it. (You can look that up in the dictionary.) That means I stop letting someone else's bad words or deeds affect my life. If I continue to feel angry or resentful over someone else's actions, they win. People who say bad or stupid things generally have not evolved beyond their childhood upbringing, but that doesn't mean they can't or won't. I'm a prime example, I can see how so many of my childhood and teen beliefs have changed dramatically as my mind was opened to new experiences; I feel sorrow rather than anger toward those whose minds remained closed.
ETA: I started typing this earlier in the thread, I'm sorry it falls below the story about Jamey ... there are no words to express how wrong the bullying is ...

reihmer: I know. My heart breaks for what this sweet young boy had to go through in his short life, and it continues to break for the family he left behind. It's the unprotected, unsupported or the young that feel the brunt of discrimination. Where is Jamey's famly from and where did he go to school? Doe anyone know?

We’ll gladly sit shotgun in Adam’s car anytime if it means getting a preview of his new tunes!" (video)

Thanks for the wishes.
A brief explanation of the upcoming Jewish holidays.
Rosh Hashanah marks the start of a new year in the Hebrew calendar -- and it is a partly joyous holiday because it is the beginning, a new start.
Tonight the evening before Rosh Hashanah day is known as Erev Rosh Hashanah in Hebrew. Erev Rosh Hashanah meals usually include apples and honey, to symbolize a sweet new year. Various other foods with a symbolic meaning may be served, depending on local minhag ("custom"), such as cooked tongue or other meat from the head of an animal or fish (to symbolize the "head" of the year). Most households have a meal that features Jewish foods from their ethnic tradition -- Askkenazic (Eastern Europe/Russia), Sepharidic (Mediterranean), Syrian, Ladino (Italy), etc. I do two dinners -- one Askkenazic on Erev Rosh Hashanah (my husband's tradition) and a Ladino menu for my family tradition.
In Jewish liturgy Rosh Hashanah is described as "the day of judgment" (Yom ha-Din) and "the day of remembrance" (Yom ha-Zikkaron). Some midrashic descriptions depict God as sitting upon a throne, while books containing the deeds of all humanity are opened for review, and each person passing in front of Him for evaluation of his or her deeds. There is only one similarity between Rosh Hashanah and Western New Years Eve/New Years Day celebrations -- they are both time for planning a new, better life and making resolutions.
No work is permitted on Rosh Hashanah. Much of the day is spent in synagogue, where the regular daily liturgy is somewhat expanded.
In 10 days it will be Yom Kippur, probably the most important holiday of the Jewish year. Many Jews who do not observe any other Jewish custom will refrain from work, fast and/or attend synagogue services on this day. "Yom Kippur" means "Day of Atonement," and that pretty much explains what the holiday is. It is a day set aside to "afflict the soul," to atone for the sins of the past year.

It’s shaped like the Egyptian Eye of Horus on a location known as Cleopatra Island in Turkey’s Gulf of Gökova.

Jamey Rodemeyer, the 14 year old who committed suicide is from Buffalo NY suburb of Amherst "Amherst Police Department's Special Victims Unit has said it will determine whether to charge some students with harassment, cyber-harassment or hate crimes. Police said three students in particular might have been involved. Jamey was a student at Heim Middle School. Jamey had just started his freshman year at Williamsville North High School. (Both Amherst and Williamsville are just outside Buffalo.) But the bullying had begun during middle school, according to his parents. He had told family and friends that he had endured hateful comments in school and online, mostly related to his sexual orientation." abcnews.go.com/Health/jamey-rodemeyer-suicide-ny-police-open-criminal-investigation/story?id=14580832ETA: Wal is always one step ahead of me!!!

Question - How do you follow someones Twitter feed? I thought it was @person’sname but just shows a few, not the continuous stream I thought it should be I have the same problem. I thought maybe if my phone was also connected to twitter, it would be different (I only connect to twitter through the computer). But I have no way to find out if what I think is right. Someone may have given this suggestion already, but it's a short one, so I guess it won't matter if someone gives it twice. Once you go to @adamlambert, look at the top of the page (right under his name). You will see the words Tweets and then Top with a triangle next too it (at least on web twitter). Click the triangle, it opens a pull down box, and click on All. That should get you the more active feed. At least right now, his @replies are coming in pretty fast.
