I'm sure I'm alone in my opinion here, but Q3 you kind of depressed me with your comments about Adam 2 being more current and contemporary. Although acoustic Aftermath is way better than the album version, that was/is/and always will be my favorite song on FYE. I don't want "classic rock", but I disagree that that is what he had to do for his Idol fans. I know quite a few people who loved Aftermath the best on the album also - and they never watched Idol. My massage therapist - 32 years old. My nephew - 14 years old. My neice - 12 years old. My aunt - 68 years old. The bartender at our pub - 30 something. My dentist - 40 something. I know these are just people in my little life, but a lot of "dance" music on the next album makes me think that I and a lot of other people will just be downloading the few songs that we like. Unless he somehow makes the contemporary, current dance music somehow showcase the voice......................... PS: that Fonzerelli remix thing made my ears bleed. Awesome that so many peeps like that song, sugaree, but I gotta say, that's a first for me. I don't know anyone who likes the album production of "Aftermath" over all other songs on the album. I don't hate it, but I think it's way inferior to the live and acoustic versions. Howard Benson was big for about five minutes in the '80s and he was quite bubble gum then (IMO). Fun, poppy-rocky, but very lightweight sound. He has produced Daughtry's new album and is producing Durbin's. All signs point to that Adam's is going to be very modern ("next") pop, with some songs having a rhythmic edge. You have to look at his collaborators and so much of what he said, I have to agree with Q3, that there will be little in the direction of the soft-rock sounds of Benson, Daughtry and "Aftermath." Remixes are not singles. They are different markets and go to support one-another, but remixes are for club use and very invested fans, IMO. However ... eek! On a side note, I heard Rihanna's new song, "We Found Love," on KIIS-FM L.A. yesterday on way to work. I counted how many times the title was sang over and over. The total: 16. And I swear, there were only five other lines in the song. It was literally just "We Found Love" over and over and an instrumental. Adam, please, we need NEXT now, thanks!!!

Thinking about the album, and Adam knows that he needs to go big on this one, and the only way to go big is pop at this point in time. I expect it to be mostly pop with some urban slant, some dancey music and a few ballads. It is really important to make the sophomore album big, or he loses momentum. I don't expect to love everything on this album, but I will buy it and probably learn to like it. I do not believe that he will allow the vocals to be overrun and I believe that his lyrics will be good! I trust him to do it right. (But, yes, I also expect that there will be a segment of fans that will be very unhappy.) We may have to wait until the third album for what we want.

I agree with all of this stardust, but I also think that this is exactly the type of music Adam wants to make. Adam loves pop so I'm not sure that he will ever really make an album with the sounds of soft rock. JMO,of course. But yeah, some fans will be unhappy. My sister loves Tracks of My Tears Adam and Mad World Adam. She wants nothing to do with the rest of it. Hopefully, there will be some beautiful ballads on the new album that she can download, but I think the overall direction will be pop/dance. ETA: I should add that on the other hand, my daughter only loves the pop/dancey tracks - FYE, IIHY...so I think she will LOVE the new album even more than FYE.

I just hope that Adam sticks to his assertion that his voice will be more front-and-center this time. I like FYE, but my one complaint about it is too much production. I think that's common with Idol albums. My younger brother really likes Carrie Underwood, and gave me a copy of her first album. To me it sounded like a chorus of a thousand Carries trying desperately to compete with background music that refused to stay in the background. Too cluttered. I'm pretty sure I'll like anything Adam does as long as I can hear that amazing voice ringing out clear and true.

The voice has to be front and center or many will be very disappointed, including me. But Adam has mentioned this and I think he knows that's what the fans want. I do think it'll be a challenge though given the electro sound that has been mentioned. I'm very curious and excited to hear how he'll do it but I have confidence he will!

I don't care what kinds of songs he makes. I will love and buy because it is him. Think about it - who is selling well - Adele, Bruno Mars, Gaga, KP. He knows this, he knows their sound and he knows the market. He will do what is right.
I have my faves on FYE and some I skip. Contrary to popular likes, I am liking the others most of you could care less about. So there is something for everybody. I trust there will be something for everybody on this album, with his voice up front and center. OOL anyone?

OMG She murdered the uniqueness of an amazing Depeche Mode song and turned it into a boring meeeee balad!! OMFG! BORED BORED BORED BORED!!!!!!! I found the courage to listen ;D If I'm being charitable, it's pretty enough, but absolutely totally devoid of any emotion! I did not know it would be possible to wring every ounce of emotion out of a song like that?! I'm sure she'll sell millions of records...... IDGI ??? I'm guessing you didn't hear any of the first album then. Even if a person liked the tone quality of her voice, it's just dull singing.

My only comment on the SuBo Enjoy the Silence is WHY? The original is a brilliant song, this is the Muzak version. *sigh*

This week Tony Bennett, 85 years old knocked Lady Antebellum out of first place. But will he have Adele's run.
