That's pretty good. Only @35% drop (taking the higher sales estimate). If Adam sells @126k should be the same, no? Not that I'm expecting sales that high unfortunately. At least KC did MUCH better than Cook. Yesterday I posted I would expect Adam to do 150K and would be disappointed with anything less. However, in retropsect, I think anything over 100K would be good. Over 150K will be great. It will surely tell us the size of his dedicated fanbase. Of course, if the first single "explodes in November" then 150K could be realistic.

Do you really think A can sell more than twice what Cook sold? I have no idea what A's hardcore fanbase is but I have seen (here & on twitter) some peeps dropping away in frustration. Course that doesn't mean they won't buy the album when it's (finally) released. I HOPE YOU'RE RIGHT!

Oh gosh, yes! I don't think David ever picked up a radio, outside of Idol, following. His best selling single was his coronation song and it is 500,000 behind WWFM. True his album went platinum, but it did it almost immediately, by Feb. So that was his Idol fanbase. And basically, his genre is not popular anymore. Poor guy, he was at the end of the grunge rocker boom and I don't think it's coming back. I'm not using David's sales for comparison purposes for Adam at all.
ETA: Oh and his single just bombed!
ETA AGAIN! Was just reading the numbers' thread at MJ's. Looks like Kelly's projected sales and even Cold Play's (Wow!) are 60% of their last album's opening week. 60% puts them at exactly what "experts" say most 2nd albums come in at. Soooo. if we use that as a guide for Adam, 118.8K would be expected sales.

Oh myspenser, you're making me feel soooo good! I guess I always think of Cook as one of the most popular winners ever and (as you said) his first album was a big initial seller. I never knew much about his single sales. Apparently the large Idol fanbase he had has eroded badly. I don't THINK that has happened to Adam - yet. And yes I do know that the Idol fanbase is not the answer. He has to move far beyond that. But it should help with first week sales and that's why I was surprised about Cooks low numbers.

I was looking through what is posted in the record book section and couldn't find album sales. I did find one chart in one of the numbers threads that was through week 53 of rounded soundscan numbers but couldn't find where anyone had collected the actual numbers. I decided to go through the pulse threads as best I could and compile as much of the actual figures as I could. Where the gap was only one week between hard numbers it was possible to fill back. Some places the gap in leaked charts is larger and I just left in rounded numbers. I put an * next to actual hard numbers once I got into the point where there were more gaps. Anything that couldn't be extrapolated from surrounding figures I left the rounded numbers. Later I tagged the info that was from RCAEd's posts some of which are also rounded figures especially later when he started getting flack for giving us numbers. I threw in AL and GNL when I hit those figures.
Could someone take a look and see what maybe should be added to the Record Book section so that we keep a comprehensive record in one spot rather than having to look through numbers thread?
